Chart Analysis

In a very busy week for the chart Avicii clings on to the top 2 this week, but he is quickly losing his stranglehold of the top area as there is now a new face in the top three. 'Lonely Together' (feat. Rita Ora) remains at #1 for a third week as expected, and 'Without You' (feat. Sandro Cavazza) holds on to #2, having not left the top two since its release. 'Friend Of Mine' (feat. Vargas & Lagola) exits the top three, down 3-7 this week. Taking its place is massive urban smash 'rockstar' by Post Malone feat. 21 Savage, which so far has had a brilliant chart trajectory (12-7-3-..) and could very much become a #1 contender here. If it does it would be the first #1 without a credited dance producer since Zara Larsson took 'I Would Like' to #1 at the start of the year. It would also be the first proper urban #1 in a long time, though Calvin's urban-influenced 'Funk Wav Bounces' era produced two #1s - 'Rollin' and 'Feels'.

House DJ MK continues to climb with '17', up 6-4. CamelPhat and Elderbrook hold to #5 with 'Cola' for their third consecutive week. Alongside Avicii, Sofi Tukker also fall from the top five, down 4-6 with 'F*ck They'. DJ Licious climbs 12-9 with 'I Can't Stop' on its second week in the chart, just one place behind his mega-hit 'I Hear You Calling'. Sonny Fodera feat. Alex Mills rounds out the top 10 with 'Always Gonna Be' down 9-10, spending its 6th week in the top 10 despite peaking no higher than #8. DJ Licious' ascent pushes out 'Closer Than Close' from Freejak and Safety First feat. BB Diamond, down 10-11.

In a bumper week for BUNT. their existing chart entry 'Take Me Home' climbs 17-13. Cardi B re-peaks 16-14 with 'Bodak Yellow' having been climbing slowly for the past few weeks. This comes off the back of the song making the UK top 40 and the US Billboard #1. Continuing to make small climbs in the top 20 also are songs from Stefflon Don feat. French Montana (18-16), Above & Beyond feat. Zoe Johnston (20-17) and Lika Morgan (19-18).

The highest new entry in the top 40 this week comes from British comedian/grime MC Big Shaq, climbing 60-19 with viral meme/UK chart hit 'Man's Not Hot'. Ironically, he heats up faster than any other song in this week's Hot 100 as the week's biggest climber. Maybe he'll finally take off his jacket now. Smith & Thell are the week's highest brand new entry however, smashing straight in at #20. What could have possibly triggered this though? Well look no further than the remix credits. German folk-house duo BUNT. are an act that are gaining popularity fast in Danaelanda, and gave 'Statue (The Pills Song)' a great banging remix. Smith & Thell themselves are a Swedish duo who previously had a chart hit here with 'Illusion' which peaked at #23. Back to BUNT. though because they gave us two songs this week, and brand new at #25 is their own song 'On My Way' (feat. Leah Haywood).

Following Disciples massive single 'On My Mind' which peaked at #16 their follow-up was bound to get off to a good start. 'Jealousy' indeed does that as it enters straight in at #21, giving them their fifth hit single. Their biggest to date? 'How Deep Is Your Love' of course which peaked at #2. Also, climbing 55-23 is Eelke Kleijn feat. Therese with 'Shed My Skin', which gives the Dutch producer his belated third chart hit following 'Stand Up' (#11) and 'Mistakes I've Made' (#5), both of which were released in 2014. Finally with yet another brand new entry to finish the chart commentary off, at #29 we have the return of Armand Van Helden with 'I Need A Painkiller' (vs. Butter Rush). It follows-up last year's 'Wings' (#10) and becomes his third chart hit in total.
