Now That's What I Call Music! 17 otherwise known as Now 17 was the first Now compilation of the 90s and attempted a new look. Now 17 was available on all formats of the time, and enlisted 32 tracks from the time.
Just 2 UK #1s were selected from a possible 9 which included some well known music to this day like Kylie Minogue – Tears On My Pillow; Sinead O'Connor – Nothing Compares 2 U and Snap – The Power.
Now 17 seems to focus mainly on two genres which are Rock/Pop to begin, and end with House/Dance music. The mix works well, and this would mark a turning point for what music style to expect from future Now compilations.
Over half of the tracklisting included artists that had been unheard of in the 80s, and the majority of these would later be classed as one hit wonders. But those that did go on to have other success and feature in the series again were Primal Scream, Depeche Mode, Jesus Jones and Faith No More.
As mentioned, the majority of the tracklisting would go on to have no real future success in the charts, and so their only known single would be found here on Now 17, this includes both the #1s from Beats International and Adamski.
Well as for the cover, it has been commented on by others before, and is possibly the most amatuer design of them all. It looks like it was taken with a 1 megapixel camera and still went wrong! It was very poorly done, and some loyal fans may have been somewhat dissapointed to see the original and recognisable logo from the 80s done away with.

Artwork Rating: 4/10 Very Poor
It's just a very weak design which was a break from the previous designs, and it's almost like they didn't really figure out what was the right step forward from the previous logo, and pixelated design just was very rushed and no real thought or creativity went into the design. The design is for me one of the worst, though it is probably the "yellowist" cover we have seen or will see again!

Disc 1 Favourite: Beats International feat. Lindy Layton – Dub Be Good To Me
A song which has been sampled and covered many many times since it's first release to the world in 1990. A very funky dance tune which typifies the change of decade from 80's to 90's.

Disc 2 Favourite: Adamski – Killer
Certainly the better disc. This was an iconic 90's dance anthem and one that was later covered by ATB in 2000. Easily the most distinguishable song Seal has ever put his vocals to.

Overall Rating: 7/10 Very Good
I really do like the Now 17 mix, as it was really the first time all genres were collected so well and presented in such a way that the next song flowed nicely from the last one. I think the music chosen is good, but there are some low charters that could have been done away with and replaced with a couple more #1 singles.

Andrew's Best 5 (as of November 2016)
1. Adamski – Killer
2. Beats International feat. Lindy Layton – Dub Be Good To Me
3. Technotronic feat. MC Eric – This Beat Is Technotronic
4. Primal Scream – Loaded
5. Happy Mondays – Step On

1. E-Zee Possee feat. MC Kinky – Everything Starts With An E
2. Sydney Youngblood – I'd Rather Go Blind
3. Jimmy Somerville – Read My Lips (Enough Is Enough)
4. The House Of Love – Shine On
5. Tina Turner – I Don't Wanna Lose You

Sorry that I've been so floppy with these lately Awardinary! Shall get back on it from now on. Especially as we have now entered the 90s! <3

Artwork rating: 02/10 - Pretty damn ugly! Absolutely hate the fuzzy orange/yellow colouring and the pixelated look just doesn't work for me.

Disc 1 Favourite: Beats International feat. Lindy Layton – 'Dub Be Good To Me' - Such an easy favourite! I think I discovered this song through the Professor Green reworking 'Just Be Good To Green' haha but this is of course far superior. The production really worms its way into your head, love the 'wobbly' effects in it. The woman is a fabulous vocalist also and the guy's intro/mumbling bits are iconic *.* True classic.

Disc 2 Favourite: Adamski - 'Killer' - The best song on the whole album! Such a good song that it carried the Now 17 advert all by itself haha! The production sounds so ahead of its time and Seal gives a really passionate performance.

Overall rating: 06/10 - Nothing I'd come back to in a hurry. Mostly lifted by 'Dub Be Good To Me' and 'Killer' really!
