That's probably the best lyric video I've ever seen, could pass as an actual music video!

The song is standard Muse, it really is 'heavy' like it was painted out to be and an almost direct copy of 'Uprising' (but somehow less good on first listen) to my ears. Like eyes, I also preferred 'Survival'; with all that said though, I love 'standard Muse', so I do like this and it'll probably grow!

I really like this, a great return to form for Muse. The lyrics are slightly questionable ("your ass belongs to me now"... really?) but musically it's great! I'm glad they're going back to their more traditional sound.

I'm not completely sold on first listen ('Uprising' was never a big favourite, and like others said it's very similar in sound) but it's a lot of fun. Album comes out the day after my birthday as well!

I don't get this sounds the same as Uprising.

Uprising still sounds like the Dr Who theme to me while Psycho doesn't.

It's the glam-stomper sound. They're from the same subgenre of rock, I guess.

Not that I'm an expert on sub-genres.

Actually I do get the fact that the rhythms being used are the same.

I just think Psycho is much much better.

It's less derivative, literally, because Uprising is 5 other songs put together. I just find Uprising a whole lot more enjoyable.

But I remember at the time it was released I was underwhelmed too. It's going to grow on me, for sure. I'm just not sure how much.

I can see the similarity but it's easily different enough to be a great song in it's own right. Uprising was better lyrically for sure but I really like that riff on Psycho, it seems more deliberate. And it's great to hear them return to a more bass heavy/ heavy rock sound.

Yes I like the heaviness of it too.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if that riff comes back to haunt them after the Blurred Lines court case. In fact the whole thing sounds very much like this...

Joking aside it's the best Muse single since Uprising and makes me look forward to the new album with renewed hope.

To be fair, Muse have been playing what is essentially that riff live since around 1999 biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Cheese Wombat @ Mar 12 2015, 01:26 PM) *
Prepare to be amazed, I saw them live twice - probably two of the most enjoyable nights of my life <3

I can confirm that this was amazing. The moment they launched into Psycho the crowd went absolutely crazy and it stayed like that for the rest of the night, so much energy. Best live gig I've been to. And I'm not exaggerating.

Was relatively near the front as well so I got a good look, they're all so skilled on guitar. I'm actually worn out now from jumping around to basically every song. Especially the encore, my god, three of my favourites back-to-back. <3

The new track they played sounded pretty fab as well, gonna need to to get used to that one.

Muse are great for the first few times you see them. After 5 times it gets a bit underwhelming.

^Doubt it. tongue.gif

First time I saw them last night too. They were absolutely awesome, no other way to describe it, they played loads of their older stuff and I love that style, cannot believe I'm lucky enough to have heard Muscle Museum live. And Futurism and Bliss. Best gig I've been to, and I've seen some amazing artists live.

I hope you're right.

The first few times I saw them they blew my head off. And I have been to some amazing gigs.

5th time, less amazing. I was probably expecting too much,
