'Ordinary Lies' is a new BBC One six-part drama that is about 'how a simple lie can spiral out of control'. It is a similar premise to 'The Syndicate' as each episode focuses on one of the employees or friends of a car showroom but it is the same cast throughout the series.

It stars Jason Manford, Mac Beesley, Jo Joyner (Tanya from Eastenders), Michelle Keegan (in her first role since Tina from Coronation Street), Sally Lindsay, Rebecca Callarda and Mackenzie Crook amongst others. It is also written by a BAFTA award winner.

I hadn't noticed this until it turned up in the prediction game. It looks promising, so I shall probably give it a go.

Did anyone watch this last night?

It's set in a car showroom with each of the six episodes focussing on the lies that one staff member tells. Rather good.

Enjoyed this last night even if the story featured last night was a bit of a ridiculous premise. I like how it's setting the foundations for the other stories to be featured though and they look set to be more interesting!

Was okay so I'll continue watching. Michelle Keegan unwittingly becomes a drug smuggler next week.

I really liked the first episode despite how incredibly awkward/inconceivable the main storyline was. I like the rest of the cast though so am looking forward to seeing how it continues.

This week's episode was a lot better for me. It felt more natural than the lie last week even if it's still something that doesn't happen often. I felt really bad for Viv and was anxious to find out what happened to her/what is going to happen to her. I thought Michelle Keegan played it very well too, we know why she accepted this part though - to get a free holiday kink.gif

Just found out that this is also co-written with Kay Mellor, aka the writer of 'The Syndicate' and 'In the Club' which makes sense as it does remind me of the former (never watched the latter).

Both episodes have been enjoyable, but slightly lacking something. Perhaps because both of the two main characters thus far were kind of unlikable.

I'm looking forward to Beth's story playing out. Jo Joyner is great in this.

That was probably the main reason I decided to watch it (along with jo and Michelle) smile.gif I loved both of those shows so much- especially the syndicate wub.gif

Loved the first 2 episodes of this so far heart.gif

Great episode tonight apart from the ending. Why did he get away with it?

Bit disappointed though that the previous two stories (let's forget the first episode) weren't really acknowledge. It would be nice to know what is happening with Viv. sad.gif It's also what makes me disappointed about the ending because I believe that he HAS got away with it rather than them revisiting it in the next two episodes.

I don't understand why this is 'ordinary lies' yet none of the lies are ordinary? I've really enjoyed the last two weeks. It's a great drama.

I guess it's just to play on the 'ordinary lives' phrase.

Ridiculous show full of over the top drama. Unfortunately I've been in the room at times for some ridiculous, false, contrived drama about some overweight dood having an affair, some old receptionist havin an ffair and two girls havin an affair with the drugs. Fotunately I have only seen parts of each one, but each one has been unwatchable dirge.

Aargh, it was very annoying that we never got closure on any of the stories, especially regarding to what happened with Viv! It ended very suddenly so I just hope that means that there will be a second series following the same cast, otherwise it's just going to be a show with great potential but it was never quite fully realised.

I've just seen the final episode. There were, indeed, a lot of loose ends. The audiences have been OK but not spectacular. However, it does seem to have had a high appreciation level from people who have watched it. Therefore, a second series must be a distinct possibility.

It's had similar ratings to 'In the Club', also by Kay Mellor, so hopefully if there are plans for a second series, it will be renewed!

I just hope that they don't follow the same path as 'The Syndicate' if there is a second one by getting a complete different cast.

Do you mean for In The Club or Ordinary Lies?

For In The Club (as with The Syndicate) a new cast would make sense. However, with Ordinary Lies, it would make more sense to continue the same set of story lines.

I never managed to catch 'In the Club' unfortunately sad.gif
