Quite excited yet apprehensive - really hope it delivers as I have high standards after Catching Fire was so good!

Booked my tickets for this now. Excited.
Really wish the soundtracks were actually used throughout the films though, would love to see where the Major Lazer/Ariana collab would fit in!

Went to see this at midnight last night - so worth it. The film was so much better than I had anticipated, having read the book about a year ago. Much like with 'Catching Fire', there were plenty of times I thought the film had finished but it just kept on delivering. Can't believe we have to wait another 12 months for the conclusion!

Thought this was fantastic, very emotive and really told the story well, was a slower pace but by no means any less exciting, I think I preferred Catching Fire slightly but this was a close second and I think the final part is going to be mind blowing! Also Jennifer Lawrence really is just a brilliant actress she really is the perfect Katniss!

It was a very good film, I've never read the book in full as my attention drifted halfway through so I'm looking forward to the conclusion!

If you do put it in spoiler tag please, I don't want to know where the film breaks off until I see it laugh.gif

I've made my review plot-spoiler free.

It's got nothing on the first two. They were some really good moments of drama and tension, but ultimately it didn't give enough to feel worth while of splitting the film in two. It has definitely built up some excitment, and I'm excited for the finale, but I did feel like it was trudging water a little. I was disappointed with Julianne Moore, who is one of my favourites - her performance was a little flat.

I think they've made a mistake with the release strategy. With Harry Potter, when they split the final book into two movies, even though The Deathly Hallows part 1 wasn't the most memorable of the series of films, they kept momentum up by releasing part two 7 months later. I think for a film where little happens - 12/13 month wait is a bit much, they needed to keep the momentum up a bit more.

Anyway, Buttercup stole the entire movie for me.

So where exactly is this split?

About 5 minutes after Peeta attacks Katniss. It ends when Katniss goes to see Peeta the 2nd time and he is having a fit

Easily the weakest of the three movies so far by some distance. I hate to say it because I love the series but I did find this a tad underwhelming and it doesn't touch my favourite five movies of the year, whereas the first two were my favourites of 2012 and 2013.

I think the split could've done with being five minutes earlier as soon as Peeta attacked Katniss. Would've been more predictable but also more suspenseful. Could've made up for where they were running for the door before everything sealed where I felt no tension because even if you've not read the book you know they're going to just make it in time.

To be fair to the movie though, they didn't have a lot to work with as the first half of the book isn't that great. Everything happens in the second half so part 2 should be a lot better, shame we have to wait another year for it.

Absolutely true. Buttercup was the highlight and provided some much needed humour.
