BuzzJack Music Forum _ Kylie and Dannii Minogue _ Visiting Hours ● Ed Sheeran (Kylie on backing vocals)

Posted by: Liam.k. 26th June 2021, 09:40 AM

Don’t know if this is true or just a joke but apparently Kylie is appearing on Ed Sheeran’s new album? Not really something I’m particularly excited for but wow yet another big name Kylie has managed to collab with!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 26th June 2021, 09:52 AM

I think she's just doing backing vocals on one song, from what I've seen.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 26th June 2021, 05:30 PM

Is love them to duet as I really like ed but any association is good for me.

From the Mirror:

QUOTE
Ed Sheeran teams up with Kylie Minogue to record tune for his new album
Ed Sheeran and Kylie Minogue linked up in March at the memorial of music mogul Michael Gudinski and the Brit asked the Aussie to be on his song called Visiting Hours

It's a combination that will have Kylie Minogue and Ed Sheeran fans in dreamland.

The Queen of Pop is set to appear on the flame-haired singer's newest album.

It follows the pair's link up in March when Ed made a tearful appearance in Australia at the memorial for his friend Michael Gudinski.

The Shape of You singer, 30, performed a short set before joining the Aussie icon on stage to sing some of her biggest hits, including The Locomotion.

And now the duo are reuniting once more to create a tune that is no doubt destined to be a hit.

Kylie's vocals are set to feature on Ed's song Visiting Hours on his upcoming record, which is expected to be named Subtract.

A source told The Sun : "He wrote Visiting Hours in quarantine in Australia, performed it at the gig and asked Kylie to feature on it as she was there too, with the pair having hit it off.

"The song was a dedication to Michael and Kylie felt it right to put her vocals on the track. It was a fitting tribute to the music legend and she was flattered to be asked by Ed."

Shes 99% bound to have another top 10 hit!!! Maybe even a number 1! (if credited)

It depends on it having the momentum to end up within Ed's top 3 tracks of the week (if it's just an album track, rather than a single). That'll be determined by its position on the track list and prominence in playlists. Fingers crossed though!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 29th June 2021, 07:33 PM

I'm looking forward to hearing it and hopefully it will be at least a top 10 hit.

Posted by: pippa 30th June 2021, 06:49 PM

If it makes the selection for a single it could return Kylie to the upper reaches of the chart if she is credited.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 30th June 2021, 08:55 PM

Id love it to be a hit and kylie been officially credited on it, fingers crossed it happens but i wont get my hopes up.

Posted by: Liam.k. 30th June 2021, 09:50 PM

I can just picture Kylie’s Top 3 biggest songs being ‘Head’, ‘Santa Baby’ and ‘Visiting Hours’ in a few years! laugh.gif

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 30th June 2021, 10:16 PM

I'll be incredibly surprised if she's a feature/credited feature, but like one of our residents would say - let's see biggrin.gif

Posted by: Liam.k. 30th June 2021, 10:20 PM

Ed has already confirmed himself, I saw a clip on an Australian news show earlier today.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 30th June 2021, 11:24 PM

Either way I'm looking forward to hearing it, i wonder will be an upbeat track like bad habits.

Posted by: Liam.k. 30th June 2021, 11:29 PM

The track is already out there to hear as Ed performed it at Michael Gudinski‘s memorial earlier this year:

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 1st July 2021, 09:53 AM

The production might change with the kylie version.

Posted by: Monzo 4th July 2021, 07:01 AM

This could open Kylie to a new audience. When I was growing up there were artists I knew by name but I didn't know their songs because their biggest hits were before my time. I think there are many younger Ed fans who never really listened to Kylie songs, maybe they are going to get curious about her because of the duet.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 4th July 2021, 05:58 PM

I'd love that to happen and sometimes it does work, where the wild roses grow did it really well.

Posted by: pippa 6th July 2021, 12:46 PM

I would welcome it to be the follow up to his current chart topper Bad Habits.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 6th July 2021, 01:06 PM

Manifesting the idea of Kylie getting her 8th #1 18 years after the last.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 6th July 2021, 01:09 PM

Imagine if that happened, it would be something else, i think a Top 10 though would also be amazing but she may not even get credited sad.gif or it may never be a single. If it is a single and she does get a credit i will be greedy and say please do a cd single.

Posted by: pippa 6th July 2021, 02:04 PM

If Kylie gets a credit on the track, and IF it secures single status it will be Kylie's best chance at ever getting another Number 1.

Posted by: Dannyboy 6th July 2021, 04:46 PM

I really don’t see why she would be classed as a feature, she is only doing backing vocals. We will probably even notice that much.

Posted by: pippa 7th July 2021, 11:18 PM

Kylie could have a more prominent role on the song if they have a duet version lined up.

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 7th July 2021, 11:21 PM

At least it will probably be a top 50 USA hit!

Posted by: pippa 7th July 2021, 11:33 PM

It would float her name around once again in America which is good.
From a streaming viewpoint it would ideally appear on the new version of Disco in addition to Marry The Night.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 8th July 2021, 12:46 AM

I cant see either of these making the deluxe as they are part of gagas and Ed's own albums but we can hope.

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 9th July 2021, 04:29 PM

Speaking of deluxe, is it still happening? There has been no details for months. I thought it was going to be a summer release but we are almost half way through the summer.

I heard there's an announcement coming on it in about 5-6 weeks.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 9th July 2021, 05:05 PM

I think someone said that it wont be released until Sept or October.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 19th August 2021, 02:36 PM

Out today, but there doesn't seem to be much sign of Kylie on it!

Posted by: slowdown73 19th August 2021, 05:02 PM

Can’t stand Ed Sheeran. I’m glad this is not a proper duet and just backing vocals.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 19th August 2021, 05:42 PM

She diesnt have a credited feature plus it's a grat.

Posted by: CJK 19th August 2021, 06:38 PM

Just gonna say here that this song is beautiful.

Made me cry for very personal reasons.

That'll do.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 19th August 2021, 07:10 PM

I like it myself, but generally i enjoy most of Eds music although i know that is far from a popular opinion on Buzzjack.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 19th August 2021, 07:36 PM

I'm liking these two songs better than anything on Divide (with the possible exception of 'Castle on the Hill')

I actually quite liked him before Divide, so maybe he can win me back around again after that horrible era.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 19th August 2021, 07:42 PM

I didnt enjoy the collabs album as much as his other albums but it still had some good points.

Posted by: ___∆___ 19th August 2021, 08:26 PM

Amazing track heart.gif

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 20th August 2021, 12:35 AM

No 1 on itunes now.

Posted by: tommie 20th August 2021, 06:25 AM

Odd that he's made such a big deal about this since she's just a part of the backing vocals that feature six other people.

I'm assuming that Kylie might have recorded this at one point and that's why she's on the backing vocals?

Posted by: Herbs 20th August 2021, 07:24 AM

Such a beautiful and powerful song. It reminds me of ‘Killing Me’ by Luke Sital Singh (also a song about loved ones in heaven)

You can’t hear Kylie at all!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 20th August 2021, 11:09 AM

No I cant hear kylie at all either but I still love the song.

Posted by: ___∆___ 20th August 2021, 11:38 AM

I’ve listened to it a lot and I can’t hear Kylie, if it hadn’t been announced she was on backing vocals I’d have no idea laugh.gif

Stunning track though.

Posted by: vibe 20th August 2021, 12:36 PM

This song will be huge !!

Posted by: spiceboy 20th August 2021, 01:05 PM

Wonder if there will be a duet version of it since he made a big deal out of it? I hope so would be so amazing for Kylie to get a top 10 hit in her 5th decade, I'm still bitter All the lovers didn't get #1. laugh.gif

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 20th August 2021, 01:10 PM

I would love ED to do a duet version and its not something i would rule out, i know many people frown on ED for for been very chart focused but i like that, i like when artists put in all the effort to do as well in the charts as possible.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 20th August 2021, 01:16 PM

If they did a new version featuring her, she wouldn't be credited on the chart (like with the Years & Years - Starstruck scenario)

Posted by: jsweetxe 20th August 2021, 01:19 PM

i wouldn't say this is a feature at all lol but how do you get Kylie on a track and shove her on backing vocals??? it was obviously intended to always be an Ed song with various backing vocalists but i wonder what the actual process was?

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 20th August 2021, 01:28 PM

Ya id like to know that too or what was the selling point to Kylie to be involved at all.

Posted by: vibe 20th August 2021, 02:56 PM

i cant hear her

We know how Ed - 1. Loves the charts 2. Loves to throw out new versions to keep the streams up so there is every possibility!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 20th August 2021, 04:46 PM

in either event as mentioned its likely Kylie wont be officially credited, there is something about the song i cant put an actual word to, traditional isnt the word but it gives me a sense of its a song that brings me back to years back and makes time very nostalgic, as i said i cant put an actual word to it but i mean it in a good way.

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 20th August 2021, 10:20 PM

If you can't hear Kylie's voice, what's the point of all this? huh.gif

Posted by: markivj 23rd August 2021, 11:16 AM

I can’t hear K’s voice and doesn’t look like she’s officially credited. Honestly, pointless effort Kylie!

I doubt it was much effort on her part - either she recorded her own version of this at one point or she happened to be in the studio when they were recording backing vocals. It's Ed that's been mentioning her being on the track if anyone's been bigging it up.

Posted by: -Jay- 23rd August 2021, 11:46 AM

All this chat in the Kylie forum regarding a song she is inaudible on laugh.gif More than in the Pop forum tearsmile.gif

I think it's just intended as her small contribution to a song that is dedicated to a man who was a very important person in her life. I wouldn't say it's pointless for Kylie... her role in this was clearly about the sentiment of taking part in something meaningful to her - not for her to chase chart success.

I get that. And also the personal / sentimental reasons for her being on the song.

All I’m saying is, initially I was excited when Ed mentioned that she’s on the record, I was thinking “yay, first top ten in a over a decade for our Kylie, then!”. Now, it just feels like an opportunity wasted.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 24th August 2021, 11:29 PM

It does feel like a wasted opportunity but equally I see it was a personal thing for Kylie more than anything else.

5->17 on charts though, surprised how quickly it's falling.

I know its a Grat track and not an official single or anything, but I can't believe the second week drop for this.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 4th September 2021, 10:14 AM

I'm sure it'll probably end up a million seller in the long run for him.

Who is the song about?

Who is the song about?

It's about Michael Gudinski who was head of Mushroom Records, Kylie's first record company. I'm not sure what Ed's connection is but clearly he meant a lot.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 7th September 2021, 11:47 PM

Thanks for this as it now explains the famous backing vocalists on the song including Kylie.
