Ellie has announced (through a US Kiss Radio interview) that she has a new song out with a feature in 2 weeks (as of 14th June).

STILL no album news and yet again another collaboration. In the interview, she mentioned that “it’s a bit tongue & cheek because it’s not something I have sung about before”. Hmm.

Wondering if this'll be like Rita Ora announcing 6lack as her collaborator on a recent single... a completely underwhelming announcement.

In any case, with so much great British hip hop around at the moment I'd love to see her collaborate with one of those rather than a US name.

Well this is about as close as you can get to a Post Malone collab without it actually being Post Malone. x

I shouldn't allow myself to be excited for this because Ellie's last few singles have all been very meh but I have actually really liked nearly every Juice WRLD song I've heard so maybe this one might be good.

Sigh! Ellie and Juice WRLD are labelmates (both are signed to Interscope and Polydor), so I assume this collaboration is a push from them in the US and UK, respectively. Anyway, I hope, at least, this is the single to launch her fourth album and I expect "Close To Me" to be included as well.

I guess so. As I mentioned before, this collaboration seems to be an attempt of Interscope and Polydor (their labels) to promote her in the US and Juice WRLD in the UK. Also, I don't expect another single from her to be pushed overseas while this is being promoted in the US. It wouldn't make sense to have two singles to be pushed simultaneously in the current market in my opinion.

Ellie’s surprised me this era that she’s never had a high debut.

I thought she had a bigger Stan base up until now.

I’m gonna give this a full listen then post my review I’ve totally not heard it yet oops.


Edit: It’s OK. Pretty much all of her first two albums is better and a good half of Delirium too.
It’s better than Close to me but not as good as sixteen.
Feature is pretty unnecessary and adds next to nothing to the song.

Kinda disappointing to see this struggling, I’m sure it will climb higher on iTunes soon with the 59p effect and R1 playlisting but I wouldn’t be too surprised to see this miss the top 20, in a weird way she should just focus on America, she seems to be doing a bit better there

That’s mainly because of Juice wrld hyping it everywhere! It’s great views regardless! It’s insane Ellie has triple the amount of followers but only 174,000 have viewed her video on insta while almost 1.5m have viewed it on Juice Wrld. I still don’t think it’s going to be a top 20 hit but hopefully it has some longevity.

The sooner Spotify stop obsessing over sixteen and move onto this the better.
