A backbench tory mp has called for all householders to be allowed to have taser guns to defend them against burglars. What do think?
Should we all chip in and buy Ozzy Osborne one for christmas.

I think that this is okay actually. Tasers are non-lethal (well, unless the person you hit has a pacemaker or summat...) and can effectively incapacitate an intruder for a fair period of time, certainly long enough for you to hog-tie the fukker and wait for the cops to arrive anyway.....
(so, that'll be about three and a half hours then.....  )

I agree with a Tory for once in my life.
I'd still rather use a baseball bat, personally, though (on the intruder, not the Tory... well... maybe that'd be killing two evils in one, I suppose....)

This goes back to the whole self-defence issue, in that, although we are allowed to defend ourselves, we *aren't* allowed to own some of the most effective means of doing so.

No. Bound to be used in anger against family members just like every other weapon, or children getting hold of it and killing a baby. I've been burgled while I slept. I have never felt I would have been better off having a gun to shoot whoever took my wages that week, or anything else. I feel I would have been better off having insurance to claim it back.
Just to show people can be lovely, I worked in a factory at the time and they all had a whip-round for me to help with the loss of the money. |

No. I was more relieved they only took money, a watch & gloves. If they had taken my record collection I would have been gutted.
