Following The Office, Extras and Derek, a new sitcom from Ricky Gervais is coming to Netflix soon!

QUOTE(The Independant)
The cast of Ricky Gervais’s upcoming Netflix show, After Life, has been announced, featuring a whole host of famous faces and regular collaborators.

Deadline reports that fellow Derek alumni Tony Way (Game of Thrones, Ali G), Joe Wilkinson (8 Out of 10 Cats), and Kerry Godliman (Our Girl) have all landed roles.

There are also multiple actors who appeared in Gervais’s The Office spin-off movie David Brent: Life on the Road, including Tom Basden (Plebs), Diane Morgan (Philomena Cunk), Mandeep Dhillon (Bulltetproof), Jo Hartley (This is England), and Roisin Conaty (Man Down).

Ashley Jensen, who previously starred in Extras, and David Earl (Derek, Extras, and Cemetery Junction) also join the cast. Other famous names include David Bradley (Harry Potter, Game of Thrones) and Penelope Wilton (Downton Abbey, Shaun of the Dead).

Gervais created After Life, a series that sees a man who decides to no longer care about himself or anyone else following his wife’s sudden death. While Tony (played by Gervais) believes the care-free attitude is a superpower, things prove tricky as friends try to bring the old, nice Tony back.

The comedian will also direct and executive produce the series, which will run run for six half-hour episodes on Netflix. Speaking about the cast, Gervais said: “This cast combines the best of the new breed of great British comedy talent with some of the wonderful alumni of my previous shows.”

Not really followed anything Ricky Gervais since Extras but I'm glad he's moving past Karl Pilkington and David Brent with this.

The cast is really intriguing, love Diane Morgan and nice to see Ashley Jensen back! Will probably check this one out

Watched the first four episodes last night and it's easily the best thing he's ever been involved with. Hilarious, poignent, sad and uplifting all at the same time. Will finish it later tonight!

Just finished episode four and this is fantastic. Funny, emotional, shocking, sad, brilliant and very dark.

Also this is hauntingly brilliant

That line was incredible. laugh.gif

Finished this last night and it was the perfect mix of hilarious comedy and hard-hitting emotion. Tempted to go and have a look at some of Ricky Gervais' other shows.

I absolutely adored this and I'm not usually that big a fan of his material, the balance of emotions was so cleverly scripted and the cast were amazing.

Watched this in one sitting. Quite an addictive series once it gets going. Good thing British TV is so... concise. Wanted to just do one or two but after the 3rd episode there was no stopping. Fantastic development with each episode. I loved the Daphne character. And omg that dog is probably the most important part of the entire series <3

Another one that really enjoyed this, for how short it was, it definitely packed a lot of emotions in, it was hilarious but at the same time, all coming from such a dark place so you almost feel bad laughing, but it's a really unique way of portraying it. Absolutely loved all of the supporting cast, they were all so believable (much love for Diane Morgan, but gosh I can't not see her as Philomena Cunk). Seems to be quite a divide between critics and audiences which I'm surprised about, it was perhaps a bit predictable arc-wise, but the script more than made up for it.

This deserves all the hype it's received. Maybe I should have paid more attention to Derek (never saw it) but, for me, it got lost in the oversaturation of Karl Pilkington.

Ironically, everyone mentions we don't speak about death but it still continues. This dealt with the issue really well, you'd have to be stone cold to not even be touched by ANY of it and the drug addict was VERY dark.

The show was hilarious at the same time though, with a brilliant cast. I love Joe Wilkinson more and more and the postman scenes were some of my favourites!

A really important show and I'm looking forward to the next series.
