Hello folks.

I thought I'd share a way that I like to record hits in my chart records. Instead of logging the number twos, number threes etc, I think: what is the biggest hit this week that isn't a number one? Some weeks it's the number two, others the number two song is on the way down from or up to number one, in which case it's the number three. Often it's even lower.

So to make it really clear, here's a random week from two years ago:

1 1 4 James Arthur Impossible
2 2 4 will.i.am and Britney Spears Scream & Shout - at the time, this would have been the 'nearly' number one, but it was about to peak higher, so is excluded
3 3 18 PSY Gangnam Style
