shock and awe as CALL ME BLOODY MAYBE loses its autoqualiifier status by a matter of 7 points!

23 42 Usher - Climax 231
22 25 Rihanna - Where Have You Been 237
21 41 Solange - Losing You 239

but what a lineup of new AQs, Bad Girls, Run Boy Run, Die Young (my own nom *.*), 110%, Climax, Losing You and Princess Of China back in there, that's a lot of good trades. Well done boys. And Something New has been DENIED going any further, as is correct.

Semi-Finalists
20 24 Kelly Clarkson - What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger) 240
19 31 Taylor Swift - We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together 247
18 18 Rudimental - Feel The Love 270
17 8 Rihanna - Diamonds 273
16 14 Cheryl - Call My Name 275
15 19 Porter Robinson - Language 277

12 20 P!nk - Try 279
11 4 David Guetta (feat. Sia) - Titanium 285
10 6 Calvin Harris (feat. Florence Welch) - Sweet Nothing 286
9 22 Disclosure (feat. Sam Smith) - Latch 323
8 5 Of Monsters And Men - Little Talks 326
7 9 Azealia Banks - 212 329
6 3 Swedish House Mafia - Don't You Worry Child 329

Lots of pretty good semi-finalists, but notably, 3 of last year's top 5 are out, so what's replaced them?

Finalists
5 13 Ellie Goulding - Figure 8 334
4 11 Marina & The Diamonds - Primadonna 336
3 17 Lana Del Rey - Born To Die 342
2 2 Gotye (feat. Kimbra) - Somebody That I Used To Know 421
1 1 Loreen - Euphoria 423

This is perhaps three of the most unexpected and yet loveliest straight AQs I've seen in a long while. Three alt pop darlings, with three songs that are among their best (best for Ellie, representative of career highlight for Lana and commercially best and not too shabby on quality for Marina) go straight through to the final.

And as for the battle at the top, while Euphoria has most often won 2012 (giving way to Little Talks at least once if not twice), she came very close to be dethroned here. Two points separate Gotye and Loreen as indie classic battles Eurovision dancepop. Will either of them have a shot at the top this year?

I voted for all of that top 5 *.* (albeit 1 point for 'Euphoria' laugh.gif) - great stuff, other pleasing climbs elsewhere too.

Great results! Amazed Call Me Maybe disappeared from 7th to out of the AQs in 37th, happy my nomination Princess of China became an AQ, yay for We'll Be Coming Back also being an AQ, and hurrah for Figure 8 and Born To Die going straight to the final!

Sir Porter through the first round again and improving on his first round result from last year cheer.gif (did he make it through the playoff last year? I feel like he did not, I have such a bad memory for this game)

Another set of very solid results, great to see 'Born To Die' and 'Figure 8' straight through, 'Latch' and 'Anything Could Happen' making the playoff this time and Usher, Jessie Ware, Woodkid, M.I.A., Coldplay/Rihanna and Calvin/Example getting AQs (after the latter not even being nominated last year, an oversight x). Is 'Bad Girls' the first of my nominations to make the AQ positions I forget thinking.gif (edit: yes it is)

Gah at 'Greyhound' just missing out on an AQ for a second year in a row though and even more gah at 'Call Me Maybe' collapsing so hard ohmy.gif

When I saw 3 Cover Drive songs on the list I thought they must be more popular than I remembered, but oh oops at them all placing in the bottom 10. 'Comeback Kid' almost tripling the points of my Sleigh Bells nomination last year ('Rill Rill') *.* 'Benediction' would be permanently top 10 in my world but hey in the meantime, that's an ok start. Those Carrie songs did better than I expected!

Nice new AQs, including 'Die Young' after it seemed to take a while to get nominated! (At least in that it hadn't been nominated yet when I did mine.) But the highlight is the 3 new finalists, amazing choices.
