Be The One is still quite good, don't at all understand Radio 1's Shed A Light-esque obsession with it tho

Sometimes I miss Jameela I feel like Greg has got better at the whole chart thing recently though, he's not as bad as we all make out. (Dev however ) as far as I remember Greg was into the charts all the time, even when it was on Sunday and stuff. No wonder even 'chart updates' were with him. |

Drake Blem More Life | 2017 Chart Run NE (30/03/2017) | 14-10-19-30-37 Information Release date: 24-10-2016 Format: digital single Label: Young Money Entertainment/Cash Money Records Chart sales: 100k+ Sales only chart peak: 46 Streaming only chart peak: 6 Biography Aubrey Drake Graham (born October 24, 1986) is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor from Toronto, Ontario. Drake initially gained recognition as an actor on the teen drama series Degrassi: The Next Generation in the early 2000s. Intent on pursuing a solo career as a rapper, he departed the series in 2007 following the release of his debut mixtape Room for Improvement. He would go onto release two further independent projects, before signing to Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment in June 2009. Drake released his debut studio album Thank Me Later in 2010, which debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 and was soon certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). His next two releases were 2011's Take Care and 2013's Nothing Was the Same, with certifications of quadruple and triple platinum respectively in the U.S., with the former also earning him his first Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. They were followed by two mixtapes, with the trap-influenced If You're Reading This It's Too Late, and a collaboration with Future for What a Time to Be Alive, in 2015. The former was certified double platinum in the U.S.. Drake released his fourth album, Views, in 2016, breaking several chart records in the process. The dancehall-influenced Views sat atop the Billboard 200 for ten nonconsecutive weeks, becoming the first album by a solo male to do so in over 10 years. Its single "One Dance" topped the chart in several countries, including the U.S., the UK and Canada, where it became his first number-one single as the lead artist. This saw Drake leading the Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard 200 simultaneously for eight weeks, coming close to a record held by Whitney Houston. It achieved quadruple platinum status in the U.S., and earned over 1 million album-equivalent units in the first week of its release. Alongside his Grammy Award win, Drake has won three Juno Awards and six BET Awards. He has the most number one singles on the Hot Rap Songs, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and Rhythmic Charts. Drake had developed into other ventures, including his OVO Sound record label with Noah "40" Shebib, in early 2012. Drake also acts as a producer, producing under the pseudonym of Champagne Papi. Using the the "OVO" moniker, Drake has also marketed a clothing line, as well as having his own channel on Beats 1. He is also currently acting as the global ambassador for NBA franchise, the Toronto Raptors. - Wikipedia Top 100 Chart History 2009 42 Forever (Drake feat. Well, mental health makes sense and it makes sense for them to be on the show to reach a young audience... still, seems like the kind of thing someone should have mentioned before! Who missed sending out that press release??
Or maybe Wills and Kate already have a huge teenage fandom and I've just missed that fact for years...?? |

J Hus Did You See Common Sense | 2017 Chart Run NE (16/03/2017) | 63-55-77-62-50-41-34 Information Release date: 03-03-2017 Format: digital single Label: Black Butter Chart sales: 90k+ Sales only chart peak: 46 Streaming only chart peak: 41 Video Biography Quoting both the '90s rap group Sporty Thievz and dancehall don Beenie Man on his breakthrough hit "Dem Boy Paigon," U.K. rapper J Hus exploded on the scene in 2015 with a sound that mixed rap, reggae, and the new wave of electronic Afrobeat. Born and raised in the London Borough of Newham, the amateur MC first impressed his friends with his rapping, so much so that two of his mates pushed him into professionalism by offering to become his management. In 2015, they recorded a handful of demos and uploaded them to the web, cut the single "So Paranoid" with London rapper MoStack, and then uploaded a set of videos, including "Dem Boy Paigon." The latter was an instant street hit and quickly earned over a million views, then J Hus dropped his debut mixtape, The 15th Day, which featured the U.K. radio hit "Lean & Bop." - iTunes Top 100 Chart History 2017 63 Samantha (Dave & J Hus) 2017 22 Bad Boys (Stormzy feat. YES for J Hus making the top 40. Very fresh sounding and always good to have British hip-hop in the chart.

They don't play Kendrick Lamar's new entry but they play a faller from Dua Lipa. At least he's not clogging up the chart with all his album tracks like Ed and Drake did. And boo to "Heatstroke" falling out because people can't move on from "Slide"

It appears Wills and Kate have left and are coming back to reveal the #1 then. WHY are R1 continuing to play Be The One every week? I would guess that Greg put the first song on, then whilst it was on he recorded them announcing the number one for use at the end of the show. It's unlikely TRH would be available for the entire length of the show, but who knows. |
