Continuing with our look back at the X era, we move on now to the lead single 2 Hearts.
Originally a song by Kish Mauve. the song is a bit of an odd one for Kylie. More Glam Rock than anything she had released before and a big risk for her first single since recovering from breast cancer. The song was a decent success WW, it went to #1 in Australia, Spain and Ukraine, while scoring top 5 spots in the Uk and Sweden. It went top 20 in various other counties too. In the UK the video premiered on GMTV in octover 2007, ahead of it's release in November. The vidoe features Kylie in a black catsuit with her band, and in a black dress on top of a piano. The video was directed by Dawn Shadforth. The CD singles had two b-sides on them; I DOn't Know What It Is and King Or Queen. What does everyone think of the song? Good single? X @ X Series: White Diamond |

I really wish this hadn't been a single, least of all her comeback at that point. I enjoy the song to a point though, it'd have made a very fine album track.

Today marks 10 years since the release of '2 Hearts'! I personally love it! The stompy piano; those sultry, purring vocals in the verses; the electronic whirs throughout; the addictive woos in the chorus - it's a back-with-a-bang comeback and I think it really suited Kylie. I love her styling in the video too. I can see why people would have preferred something like 'The One' as the lead single - and I'd say that would be my #1 choice too if she hadn't gone for '2 Hearts' - but this feels like a song that kicks things off; it would have felt out of place further along the string of singles or anywhere else on the album. Here's the list of performances I can find within the promotional period: Star Academy (09/11/07) The Kylie Show (10/11/07) Rai Tre (10/11/07) Children in Need (16/11/07) T4 (25/11/07) Strictly Come Dancing (01/12/07) Wetten Dass (08/12/07) Nobel Peace Prize (12/12/07) Live Music Lovers (18/12/07) Jools Annual Hootenanny (01/01/08) |

I liked 2 hearts, it’s different to rest of her album but quite mature sounding.
