I can't believe @MollieTheSats has confirmed that @TheSaturdays are releasing ANOTHER album before the end of this year! 😱

Thoughts? If they have time to be in the studio, then they have time to be doing something for this campaign. sleep.gif

i'm thinking Christmas album.

Although it's bloody weird releasing a Greatest Hits in August and a studio album before the end of the year. They need to work on THIS campaign and sort out their radio situation before anything else! What's the point of a sixth album when we can't even get the current song in the top 100 on airplay? Jeeeeez.

But yay @ new music. biggrin.gif

CBA with this album right now. Need to at least hear Mollie and Rochelle swearing on 808 first.

I'm gonna post what I just posted in the Greatest Hits thread as I believe it can help this discussion here too. happy.gif

QUOTE
If the plans about releasing an album later this year are indeed real, it does seem like this Greatest Hits and this tour is just a way to cash in some easy money.

WAYWF was recorded back then for 'On Your Radar', 'Walking Through the Desert' has been produced by a really unknown/unpopular producer which I believe doesn't ask much, and '808' couldn't have been that expensive either, the video has been paid by First Choice...It all seems like it cost next to nothing for them. So to me, this looks like it could be a case of them trying to get all the easy money out of the fans and a few people of the general public and then having some budget (hopefully?) for the album later this year. I also think they believe they will get some hype out of the tour and the album and they will try to surf on that right away with an album ready to go instead of waiting a year or half a year. Strike while the iron is hot, and all you know. tongue.gif

It also makes sense why Mollie said they don't expect a second single out of this Greatest Hits because if they were to release an album, and thus a single, in late 2014, then they would need to premiere it on radio around early October maybe? That's about when they would premiere a second single if there was one, so it couldn't work unless they delay everything and I don't know, it would complicate things.

I'm excited about a new album as I just don't particularly like spending money on tracks I already own (Greatest Hits), but I don't know what to expect as I do believe it's kinda unusual for an act to release a studio album so quick after a Greatest Hits (we're talking less than 5 months most likely!)

Will the album not flop during Q4 though? OYR didn't do too kindly then, but it did outsell LFTW's total sales in its first week laugh.gif

Album art already shot three years ago on AFU tour, why not save the money for a shoot and photoshopping their faces on?

I think Vanessa could provide the swearing, I don't think Rochelle would want Alai-Mai to hear it in a few years laugh.gif

Guess as you say, strike while the iron is hot, which I does make a lot of sense for a group who the public aren't that bothered with anymore. sad.gif

Not being funny it doesn't take a lot to outsell LFTW's total sales. laugh.gif If it has a smash lead single and planned properly, it could go ok but that's just me creating a hypothetical ideal situation. blink.gif

OH MY GOD, THIS!

Seriously, why in hell haven't they worked with her recently? It made sense for them to move a bit from her and, you know, not having her to write literally all the album like I think she did with the first two, but I thought a slight regression (just like 'On Your Radar') was ideal, not her total absence ('Living for the Weekend')

I admit I'm the first one to be annoyed by her backing vocals on songs (Yes, it's all Ina and Vanessa on the chorus of MHTO, I swear to God the other girls are not in there), but I kinda miss her writing now. She needs to sort them out with absolutely huge sing-along pop chorus. wub.gif

Maybe they're feuding with Ina ohmy.gif

I particularly don't care if they write with her or not, she was a hit or miss for me after Chasing Lights. But I do like to hear her voice on one of their tracks just for one last time, for giggles kink.gif

I just want another Ego/Disco Love. They're best when they're do sing-a-long pop which is catchy and simple, yet likeable. Even though I love their dance-pop they just seem to be more unique when they stick to their pop roots and perform quality tracks. Plus they're very hit and miss with their dancing so why they do dance tracks time after time perplexes me to be honest. But I'll be happy with whatever they deliver. I just want a smooth smash era to be honest

I want to be pleasantly surprised (aka not another gentleman or a predictable dance track)

I agree that the Greatest Hits era seems like a bit of a cash grab, with very little money/time/effort going into it. They're obviously more focused on the next album, which i'm hoping will move away from the dance sound that dominates almost everything they do now.

However, how do they expect a single from the new album to be big, when there is literally no airplay. More effort into making this era successful would have put them in a better position for the future album.

The main problem with The Saturdays is that they can't identify their own sound / direction. I love their dance numbers but I do think their better sticking to pop.

I'm expecting Living For The Weekend to be removed from iTunes with it being claimed that 'What About Us', 'Disco Love' and 'Not Giving Up' were made for the greatest hits.
