From Video Games to Lust For Life, we reveal the numbers behind Lana Del Rey's career to date.

Ever since making her grand entrance to the mainstream in 2011 with the stirring Video Games, Lana Del Rey has been a creature of mystery. Across her four studio albums (discounting her independently-released record under Lizzy Grant), she has used American pastiche to explore love, addiction and deception via all manner of female characters – from Stepford moll to ‘60s flower-power hippy.

Ahead of her new album Lust For Life, Official Charts looks back over her biggest hits so far and reveals her top sellers.

Across her 14 singles, Lana has amassed 3.7 combined sales in the UK, made up of 2.2 million download/physical sales and 152 million streams, as well as 1.4 million albums. Below is a look at a selection of her biggest.

Young And Beautiful
Released: April 2013
Official Chart peak: 23
Combined sales: 352,000

Originally meant for her Born To Die: Paradise album, this sweeping and lush ballad was later released as part of The Great Gatsby movie soundtrack in 2013. Written by Lana and legendary songwriter Rick Nowels, Young and Beautiful was key in establishing the star in America, where it became her first Top 40 single.

In the UK, it’s Lana’s fourth biggest single, having shifted 352,000 across downloads (184,000) and streaming (17m).

Born To Die
Released: December 2011
Official Chart peak: 9
Combined sales: 425,000

The title track of Lana’s debut album followed her massive debut single Video Games, proving she was more than a one-trick pony. About a doomed relationship and packed with apocalyptic lyrics, it’s a signature song in Lana’s cannon. The accompanying music video sees Lana in the arms of a tattoo-clad man (model Bradley Soileau), who Lana said was cast because he reminded her of the ex-boyfriend the song was about. Amazing.

As of this week, Born To Die has sold 302,000 across physical and downloads, while it has notched up 12.3 million plays on streaming services.

Summertime Sadness
Released: January 2012
Official Chart peak: 4
Combined sales: 998,000

As is often the case with Lana, her biggest successes arrive when you least expect them. A year and a half after the release of her Born To Die album, the wistful album cut Summertime Sadness had new life breathed into it by French house producer Cedric Gervais, sending the song Number 4 on the Official Singles Chart – her highest peak on the UK Top 40.

It’s combined sales are just shy of 1 million, split between 651,000 downloads and 35 million streams. It’s the ultimate summer sad-banger – officially, if you base it on sales.

Absolutely tragic that Summertime Sadness remix is her top seller. Still, she's the type likely to pick up lots of trickle streams +/ sales as her star keeps rising.

As of 10/8/13, it had sold 488k, and was certified platinum on 11/9/2015.
