It's still will be the return of the Mack 4eva Joined: 1 February 2011 Posts: 53,747 User: 12,915	Swimmer Ellie Simmonds and archer John Stubbs will carry the Great Britain flag at Tuesday's Tokyo Paralympics opening ceremony. Both athletes will be competing in their fourth Games in Japan. Simmonds, 26, will be the first woman to carry the flag for GB at a summer Games since fellow swimmer Maggie McEleny in 2000. Stubbs, 56, is the oldest member of the GB team and will be the first archer to fulfil the role in recent history.

The 43-year-old smashed her world best by more than four seconds in the C5 3,000m individual pursuit qualifying and in the final caught team-mate Crystal Lane-Wright, who matched her silver medal from Rio 2016. Storey is just one behind Mike Kenny's British record of 16 golds. There was also silver for tandem pair Steve Bate and Adam Duggleby in the B 4,000m pursuit.

There was also gold for the S14 mixed 4x100m freestyle team of Reece Dunn, Bethany Firth, Jessica-Jane Applegate and Jordan Catchpole.

The 24-year-old held her composure to fend off Colombian Darian Faisury Jimenez Sanchez in 12.43 seconds. Shortly before Hahn's gold, Young pipped China's Zhu Dening to the men's T38 100m title in a personal best of 10.94.

The European champions started strongly and pulled away in the third quarter. Jim Roberts top-scored with 20 tries with Aaron Phipps on 17 but the GB defence was also key against the world champions in Tokyo. They will face the USA, who they lost to 50-48 in the pool stages, in Sunday's final

The 32-year-old trailed Chew Wei Lun of Malaysia 2-0 after the first of four ends but stormed back to win 4-2. The victory gives Smith his fifth Paralympic medal and sees him overtake Nigel Murray as the country's most successful athlete in the sport. It is also GB's 30th gold of the Tokyo Games. Swimmer Becky Redfern won silver in the SB13 100m breaststroke, just over a year after giving birth to son Patrick.

The five-time Paralympic champion finished fifth in the S6 400m freestyle but was initially disqualified for an issue with one of her turns before a British Swimming appeal was successful. However, it means the 26-year-old has failed to win a medal at her fourth Games. "I don't think I could go for another three years," she told Channel 4. "I'm leaving it at the right time, I love it, I've absolutely had a wonderful competition and I've loved every minute of it."

The 43-year-old defended the women's C4-5 road race title she has held since London 2012 to put her one gold ahead of previous record holder Mike Kenny. The 33-year-old world champion took silver at Rio 2016 but went one better with a season's best of 2.10m. There was also gold for Paralympic debutant Owen Miller in the T20 1500m.

Cockroft set a new Paralympic record as British team-mate Kare Adenegan took silver, almost 11 seconds behind. In another British one-two, Charlotte Henshaw won KL2 200m Para-canoe gold, with Emma Wiggs clinching silver. Another gold soon followed in Para-canoe, with Laura Sugar becoming KL3 champion. Stuart Wood, making his Paralympic debut in Tokyo, won bronze in a tight finish in the VL3 200m final. Badminton player Dan Bethell became Britain's first medallist in the sport on its Games debut, taking silver in the SL3 singles final where he lost 21-14 21-17 to India's world champion Pramod Bhagat. Jordanne Whiley and Lucy Shuker were left with silver in the wheelchair tennis women's doubles after they were beaten 6-0 6-1 by Dutch top seeds Diede de Groot and Aniek van Koot in the final. It is Whiley's second medal of the Games after she defeated Van Koot for singles bronze on Friday.
