I know it's probably laughable that this album has a moment that makes me emotional, but I've been heading back to my hometown today after my grandad's passing, and Wonder has really touched me and grown to become a huge favourite.
I guess it goes to figure that it is the only non-Dr Luke production on the album, and also the longest song on the album. I think it's also undoubtedly the most "Katy" songs on the album and reminds me a bit of Ghost from Prism? It feels like a song she's had a strong part in writing, rather than feeling like a Dr Luke cast-off from another project. Such a gorgeous closer and a huge highlight. I think it could've made a great single with a little beefing up here and there, it feels mature and honest to a 39 year old who has a child. |

Just finished the album.
Wonder is absolutely beautiful. Take the kids opening and closing it (or get Daisy herself to do it?) and we have one of her most beautiful songs. It made me think of Madonna's Ray of Light album, being written in the aftermath of becoming a mother and discovering the beauty of doing so but also the fears that come with such a milestone. The lyrics moved me completely (being an Uncle to the most gorgeous little girl ever, I want the message of this song to follow her over the next few years). It lyrically touches on what Ray Of Light does but it's Katy's stamp on that. Oh how the potential is there - imagine an album of Wonders? Songs about being in love with being a mother and a wife and a woman - that's what 143 should've stood for. Instead we get "hold onto your men, women are out on the prowl and we look good!!1" with awful, tinny, regressive production. The same tired songs with awful lyrics and cringe sentiments. Wonder is my keeper from the album, the rest I'll probably skip (though I'm His, He's Mine is a bop) |

#4 in the first midweek update, should guarantee it a comfortable top 10 finish at any rate, especially as there's loads of other newbies in the top 10 that'll drop fast too.

If only the whole album had been built around Wonder. Stargate <3
And credit where it's due, I rather like the bonus track Has A Heart too, it has a more laidback kind of vocal than a lot of the main album tracks and it's got a good chorus hook. The kind of simple hand clap production really works too. I'd take it over half of the main album tbh. |

She is very safe to stay top 10 on Friday and who knows she might manage to stay top 5, considering the bad reviews she is getting i think its a decent result and looks to be on track to match the sales of her last album on the opening week.

ALL THE LOVE is growing on me. I like it.
WONDER - LIFETIMES - NIRVANA - ALL THE LOVE are my top favourites. Everything else I’m still not fond of. |

Pitchfork was actually on the kinder side comparing to other grades on Metacritic. https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/katy-perry-143
