It isn't technically closing down. Apple music is splitting up into streaming app, iTunes app etc. So it will close but reopen as a new app on it's own. At least this is what I gather. Though I suspect it is a way to make closing it fir good easier once it is on it's own app shutting that app down next year would be pretty easy. I also suspect the current apple music will become the streaming service thus making anyone who wants to download have to download a new app, which some just wont be bothered to do and it will help kill iTunes quicker too.

A few milestones reached this week on Spotify:
- Wannabe is now over 400Million plays - Say You'll Be There becomes their 4th song to go over 50million streams (next up - Spice Up Your Life!) - Emma's What Took You So Long? has reached 5million streams Also, Emma's Baby Please Don't Stop will pass the 1million stream probably by the end of this weekend! It is now at 990,190 streams |

Great stuff!
I do wish certain Spice songs weren't sooo far behind Wannabe. Their second most streamed song, Stop, only has 13.5% of the streams that Wannabe has. Stop is that popular because it's the first song on both the "All Out 90s" & "Songs to Sing in the Shower" playlists... both playlists have over 5m followers! |

The All Out 90s playlist shows up with Who Do You Think You Are on top, for me actually I think the song has slowly become one of their most popular, over time. It seems to be more popular than most of their biggest hits, which is quite interesting, I think. I wish Spice Up Your Life would have better streams too. Their record company really needs to incentivise Spotify to add their catalogue to more playlists! |

The girls themselves could promote their music via streaming more too. Their social media which seems to have stopped posting never really pushed their music on Spotify etc.
Stop getting good streams is fine by me, it going platinum will be ultimate justice. |

Whether it was a social media campaign by fans or just a streaming/listening party every now and then, it would be great to get these singles certified to these levels

Stop going platinum is definitely achievable in the near future! I would predict it’ll happen sometime in 2020, maybe towards the end of that year.
Mi Chico Latino... maybe gold in another 3 years or so. It’s hard to predict Never Be the Same Again because the updates we’ve had for it are from too long ago! In 2009 it had sold 401,767, which grew to 431,477 by 2016. We’re probably still many years away from 600k though. I don’t think the Mel B singles are likely to ever reach silver, unfortunately. Lift Me Up is probably too far away too. |

All of their solo music deserved better. I agree their solo work deserves alot more. They are victims of having had huge success before hand so good success or average success was seen as failures for them which led to them having a 'failure' image which led to even more of a decline in success into flopping category. Also a huge bulk of solo Spice music was released in a very low sales climate so their already unsuccessful singles are even more of a flop. |

On Spotify, Come Away with Me has overtaken Baby Please Don’t Stop as Emma’s currently most popular song from My Happy Place It’s Emma’s third most popular track behind What Took You So Long? and Take My Breath Away.
Come Away with Me is the 13th song in the playlist Chill Covers, which evidently must be one of her strongest playlists! |
