Yep. I think they still are on Radio 1, every 4th Monday of the Month for one hour at 9pm It has become very apparent their relevance has dwindled, says a lot that Dan has released a rap song about himself and put it on iTunes - methinks it's a ploy to get a little bit more money in his bank

Interesting to point out that Kanye West has a new single played out on Monday Night's Annie Mac as a Hottest Record. Presumably this is his first single of his planned Turbo Grafx 16 album releasing this summer, don't think it will make a huge impact but one to look out for

Yeah for some reason it sounds very early 2006 for me musically with the Love Dont Let Me Go style drop and the Beatfreakz/Infernal-style synths later in the song and the fade-outs and the female backing singer disco vocals. Great if it could be a hit.

Not random.. Chris Evans played it this morning! He played it immediately after "Tilted" saying "I've always loved songs that sound like that". He banged on about how amazing she was for some time.

Yes it is it sounds more like mid 2000s house ( particularly Love Dont Let Me Go with the drop and the funky style) than modern house which might stop it being a hit but that didnt stop the 99 Souls track of course, which sounded a bit like 'The Weekend' or 'Out Of Touch' and not like most modern dance. And of course we had two disco house hits, Clean Bandit and Louisa and Sigala/John Newman so there seems to.be a mini 2000s dance revival this year. Now all we need is trance too.

nice to see the new Chainsmokers at #19, it's a pity the UK is becoming so slow, not only Spotify but also itunes, the new Chainsmokers is #2 in US and Australia but just #19 in the UK, same happened the other week with Britney/Katy Perry

the need to reduce Olly's song to 59p, cannot believe the #1 Airplay song is only #21 on itunes (and low top 50 on SPotify)

Kiss Me and You Don't Know Love have been Murs' best lead singles for me. The former was a slow burning hit but I expect they expected more. I'm sad this one hasn't taken off despite the huge support. I guess Olly Murs as an brand just isn't clicking as much anymore.

The only way for Olly to break the top 20 is for the track to be reduced to 59p. I'm guessing that they're waiting for a higher position on Spotify before they do it.

I think it's #2 in the US because both acts are bigger in the US than in the UK.

Years & Years really have flopped with 'Worship' haven't they? considering the music video release and radio 1 support I thought it could have gone top 40. Doesn't seem to be doing anything on iTunes or spotify..... As a big Y&Y fan I think they should have re-released 'Take Shelter'.... Amazing song which many Y&Y fans wouldn't have even known until after they made it big.

Indeed. It was clear 'Worship' was just something to keep the album afloat and keep their name out there until their next album (I wouldn't be surprised if we get it before the end of the year, or at least get the first single).

Worship is like the 8th single off YEARS & YEARS album I think... of course it was not gonna be a hit, have you seen many 8th singles being a hit? It's a miracle these days if a post-album single gets top 40...

They were so under the radar, that I wouldn't really count Real and Take Shelter as singles. Apart from a few "introducing spins" on Radio 1, there was no support and they were unheard of. In terms of commercial singles, I'd say it's their 5th, given Desire was released twice. I don't disagree though, there's no way it'll be a hit.

I'm a huge Y&Y fan and have downloaded all of their releases/remixes and album released so far and I had no idea they were releasing 'Worship'! It's a great song and I have just heard the Todd Terry remix which is brilliant but they need to engage with their fanbase at least to inform them of a new release!

Didn't realise that Sam Bailey was making a 'comeback' - Just heard a snippet of the song and it's as expected and very Celine like.

Surprising that she is on a tiny random indie label, I know she didn't have outstanding success for a CF winner but a gold #1 album I thought would have helped her get a better record deal. The single will clearly struggle but the album could do a Rick Astley on us with enough Loose Women type performances.

I wasn't even aware that Sam Bailey released something new. Her last released single (a cover of "With You" from Ghost) only managed #184 in the official chart, so no doubt they'll be hoping for a better position. Calum Scott's cover of Dancing on My Own was initially released independently but a few months later he signed a major record deal and the song subsequently became a hit so you never know.

yes it's an incentive to make people buy the album, so if you preorder it then you get the song for free, but this doesn't count towards the charts (although it used to bizarrely!!)
but you can also buy the song properly and without preordering the album and then if does count towards the charts

Not exactly. At that time iTunes was unable to differentiate between normal sales and the sales from preorders of the album, so the instant grats were ineligible to chart until the album was released. This was changed by the OCC when the David Bowie album The Next Day was put on pre-order, so the first instant grat Where Are We Now could chart. From that time on the first instant grats were eligible to chart (not the second, third etc though). 1 or 2 years later suddenly iTunes was able to differentiate between the normal buys and the buys from pre-orders and there we are, instant grats can chart, although presumably without the sales from the pre-orders of the album.
