BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ Friday Chart Predictions

Posted by: DANKENSTEIN 14th October 2017, 12:56 PM

This week P!nk should easily get herself a number one album with "Beautiful Trauma" while other contenders for the top 10 include Robert Plant (of Led Zeppelin fame) "Carry Fire", Beck "Colors" and Wretch 32 "FR32". Other albums this week come from Squeeze, St. Vincent, Courtney Barnett, Wu-Tang and a Scouting For Girls best-of compilation. In the singles chart it should be Post Malone at #1 with "rockstar" for a third week with the other main challenger once again being Camila Cabello "Havana". New singles from Dappy, The Vamps feat. Maggie Lindemann, Matt Terry and P!nk feat. Eminem could challenge for top 40 positions.

Liam Gallagher’s sales have dropped off a cliff, down 90% compared to last week. As you weren’t, I suppose.

Do you think Pink has a shot at #1 this week? How’s she doing? Thank you!

We have had two consecutive weeks of 7 New Entries in Album Top 10, this week I reckon 6, Pink (clear #1), Robert Plant (#2), Beck, Wretch 32, St. Vincent and (hopefully but may miss) Squeeze.

Posted by: Hocus Pokus 14th October 2017, 02:44 PM

I must admit the album chart is more exciting than the singles chart lately with 6 to 7 new entries inside the top 10 and the 80s acts are doing quite well, but falling like a brick in week 2, seems Tears for Fears are probably the next 80s act to conquer the album charts with a new GHs album very soon.

Post Malone's track is getting old with me already, I just hope Camila gets there, I'm not a fan of the track though, but something fresh is needed or P!nk since its on the rebound again. I just think the #1s this year have been heavily urban (ish). Dance and Indie are hardly getting a look in.

Posted by: timjimlee 14th October 2017, 03:11 PM

Liam Gallagher's Album must be on about 5.5k then ( he was on about 55k last Saturday ), still fancy he will make #3 this week ( behind Pink & Robert Plant ).

How many weeks is this Post Malone song going to stay at number one, I heard it once and that was enough for me

Posted by: Envoirment 14th October 2017, 09:52 PM

Just seen P!nk's estimated figures in the US - the biggest album opening of her career there it looks like. Hoping the same can be replicated in the UK!

Probably seven in total before it moves to ACR.

(though it's very likely that it won't get hit by ACR on week 10 judging by 'Congratulations' managing 20+ weeks without an ACR hit lol)

Posted by: cqmerqn 14th October 2017, 10:14 PM

340-375K with streams

Pink has a concert ticket bundle in the US that artificially inflates sales
Thats why shes higher than expected

Posted by: cqmerqn 15th October 2017, 06:05 PM

Minty says Pink is doing ‘very well’ in the albums.

Posted by: slowdown73 15th October 2017, 06:31 PM

Singles sales for top 3 have been consistently quite low recently. Can’t remember last time a no1 sold much more than 50k in a week. Why do people think this might be? Lack of new releases? A slowdown in the market?

There's not anything particularly outstanding (a la "Rockabye", "Shape Of You") or overly catchy (a la "Despacito") or with a combination of those and celeb power (again a la "Shape Of You") at the moment. I'd go as far as naming 2017 the weakest year for popular music this century.

Posted by: cqmerqn 15th October 2017, 06:39 PM

The ratio change has lowered numbers but it seems so dead rn! Nothing catching on which is odd considering we are now Q4

Posted by: Poked Pumpkin🎃 15th October 2017, 07:33 PM

Enough about that fake screechy music

Are there any sales flashes for Stay Lucky in the albums???

Posted by: chartdj 16th October 2017, 11:36 AM

I don't usually ask for sales flashes but for Pink I'd really like to know how the album is going

Posted by: DANKENSTEIN 16th October 2017, 12:07 PM

Check back around 6pm, we won't get a midweek update until 17:45 and the sales source usually comes in around the same time.

Posted by: SevenSeize 16th October 2017, 03:30 PM

My prediction for P!nk's sales would be around 90-100k, certainly higher than The Truth About Love managed initially since that was a big seller in the long run + What About Us has been all over the radio!

Why would you expect an album track (for now) to be challenging for #1?
Yup!

I thought it had been announced as the next single? (not that I'd expect it to be even close to challenging for #1)

Posted by: Bjork 17th October 2017, 08:30 AM

yes it's the 2nd single
well, when it was posted here, many said it could challenge for #1 on release week
it's not that unusual i'd say, didn't it happen to Little Things (1 D)
and think there are other examples (Emeli Sande's Next to you or Beyonce's Best Thing I Never Had) that came close

I actually think it has not happened cos of the spotify f**k up, as Eminem is not credited on Revenge
if he was, I'm sure things would have been much better, really thought the song could go easily top 5 on Spotify during week 1

I think it's all-but-confirmed as single 2 right now. Was never gonna contend for #1 right away.

you gotta love nerina pallot

Thank you so, so much everyone who has bought a copy of the album. Thanks to you, Stay Lucky is miraculously at #29 in the midweek album charts which is amazing considering it's on my own little label which is run from the kіtchen table. (Or counter today, because my child has insisted on taking up the table with his latest Lego creations and I am under strict instructions not to move them before he comes home from school.)

Too good at goodbyes

Have debuted number 1 in last year and plenty of others have gone top 10 In first week so it’s not really that rare however not all hits are instant and Bjork does have a point people were discussing it going to number 1 but realistically with WAU still fairly high and she hasn’t performed it yet probably means it won’t be an instant hit

Revenge looks like it'll debut top 40 so it's not doing too badly considering Eminem wasn't credited on the song until yesterday. It's on Hot Hits now so it's definitely the next single.

Not necessarily kink.gif see: Oops by Little Mix! I mean I think it almost certainly is the next single but I'm yet to see any rock solid proof.

Not sure if you're talking about Little Mix or P!nk but, if it's P!nk, then Revenge is definitely the second single and a video was shot. The New York Times interviewed her during the shooting.

I think she will get around 65k which is very good compared to her contemporaries, it's more than Katy Perry & Lady Gaga albums combined

Reggaetón Lento deserves that #3 peak. Probably their best single of the Glory Days era.

I also don’t get how rockstar is doing so well. I’ve heard it a few times on Radio 1 and still can’t remember how it goes. Definitely the worst Number 1 in a long long time! It’s a massive shame as ‘Havana’ is a great pop song that should be at the top spot!

Theyre popular with a very specific audience
Which is the kids using spotify
I actually think the record industry has a big problem here
Cos Spotify is too-genre specific
And is damaging the rest of genres
Which do not appear in the charts anymore :/

I wouldn't really class Coldplay as rock or indie these days, not like they were in the early 2000s.

It's such a shame that rock music can't get in the charts any more sad.gif

Kinda ironic really, when the #1 single is called 'Rockstar' haha.

I guess one of the last big alternative top 10 hits was Walk The Moon - Shut Up & Dance, maybe? But Imagine Dragons (although no top 10's) have done really well for themselves with songs like 'Radioactive', 'Demons', 'Thunder' etc..

Walk The Moon "Shut Up + Dance" - while I love it - feels like that sort of 'wedding reception' song, it shouldn't have to be so sickeningly commercial to be a hit. DNCE "Cake By The Ocean" another example although even calling that rock is loose.
