BuzzJack Music Forum _ Lady Gaga _ Alice vs. Free Woman - Which would be the bigger hit?

Posted by: Jαsє 1st July 2020, 02:28 PM

Free Woman is a more chart friendly sounding song and Alice is a huge fan fave, but which do you think would end up being the bigger hit?

Vote and discuss x

The results on GagaDaily are so close ohmy.gif

Free Woman has more GP appeal.

Both are certified angelic BOPS but Alice wins on the hit question for me. It's a little more dynamic and original in its' production. Anyone name two better picks though, I'll wait x

I could see 'Free Woman' being the bigger hit, but maybe 'Alice' because of its dancefloor appeal?

Posted by: Slick 1st July 2020, 02:50 PM

I would hope (and I voted) 'Free Woman' but 'Alice' was the bigger seller on album release week, although 'Free Woman' would have gone Top 40 if chart rules allowed it. SO NOT SURE BASICALLY.

Alice, surely it's a much bigger sounding dance hit imo

My super basic friends think free woman is a bop and that Alice is creepy and weird which makes me think that free woman would be a bigger hit

Ughhhh.

Alice for sure, such a great pop song, a surefire hit! 4th single without doubt! (I insist on a remix of this song with Anastacia) dancing.gif

Free Woman sounds like the bigger hit with the general public. The stans would prefer Alice but I think the GP may not be here as hard.

Out of the two I feel like this could be one of those moments where the song that sounds more GP friendly (Free Woman) would actually perform worse than the other track (similarly to Beyonce when Drunk In Love took off more than the (what seemed to be at the time) safer option of XO)!

So I don't know. I think FW sounds like a bigger hit, but I could see 'Alice' out performing it, especially if the video was as cinematic as I'd expect it to be.

Prefer ‘Free Woman’, but Alice would be a bigger hit.

Whoever is voting Alice has inhaled a strong whiff of delusion. To me Free Woman has by FAR a better mainstream potential

Clean your ears then, Free Woman is very loud and has a lot of screams, it's not going anywhere on the charts. Alice, on the other hand, is a powerful pop song with monstrous beats, but it doesn't sound loud, it's on point, it will surely make more success if chosen as the next single.

I bet you find '911' suitable for radios too (like most fans who are still stuck in the ARTPOP era rolleyes.gif ), when clearly, it's not a good choice... Alice is clearly the best option for a next single.

I... do not smile.gif

I thought it was a given that Free Woman was more mainstream sounding than Alice until I entered this thread. Lyrically and sonically, FW is more of a universal message surely?

I could not agree more. Free Woman is universal and the production is perfectly aligned with the tastes of the British GP specifically right now. Alice is lyrically too ‘out there’ to make as big of an impact. Also, 911 is a fan favourite but is in no way single-worthy. Well said Haus.

Alice.... it's an infectious hit!

Well I'm happy to remain deluded with the majority of the forum then, going by the poll Selena.png

Free Woman would be a bigger hit, especially in Europe.

Alice is in my Top 3 Chromatica tracks but there's no way it'd be as much of a hit and would be massively dismissed by radio worldwide.

I mean look at where they currently are on Apple Music

272 Alice
351 Free Woman

Seems pretty clear cut to me? x I can't say I got single vibes at all from 'Free Woman' whereas I can easily imagine 'Alice' being a single, then again I thought 'Alice' was a way better song so maybe I'm just biased.

(the real answer: neither of them would be big hits)

Is that because of Alice's placement on the album too though? Being effectively the first song on the album means it'll be streamed more by default too. unsure.gif

I think Alice would do better in Europe and free woman would do better in the US

Well yeah but surely that'd only have an effect in the first couple of weeks? It's one of the most instant songs as well (I mean on an instant album lmao)
