Do you think there will be one this year, I have contacted R1 twice, to ask, by email & Twitter, and got ignored so far.

Isn't there one every year?
And how long have you waited for R1 to reply? They must get hundreds if not thousands of emails/tweets a day, you'll be lucky if you get a reply at all! This post has been edited by SNOWING ADAM: 25th November 2014, 08:18 PM |

There's barely any point this year. Most of the songs that would make the YE top 40 are still in the current chart!

They usually have plenty of recorded shows from Xmas day onwards repeating One Big Weekend and the likes so I'm sure they will have a day dedicated to a top 100 countdown!

I'm betting it'll be even worse next year. And I believe a quarter to a half of this year's YE chart will be in next year's by the looks of things. Also, I reckon about 50% of this year's year-end chart will be songs that originally premiered in 2013. The inclusion of streaming favours songs released earlier in the year when it comes to year-end. The OCC will always publish a year-end chart (top 200), but whether Radio 1 will dedicate a show to it is a different matter of course. On another note, I'm expecting some songs which missed top 40 to make the year-end top 200. It's happened a few times before in the download age I think, but it's still quite impressive imo, and it might become more common with streaming. For example, I think Demi Lovato's version of Let It Go could make it. This post has been edited by Eric_Blob: 25th November 2014, 10:07 PM |

wouldn't be surprised if we didn't get one this year, don't think we did last year anyway but in 2012 we got a whole day dedicated to the top 150 songs of the year so anything could happen

I'm not expecting a Y/E chart show on Radio 1 this year anyway, they didn't bother last year. |

Radio 1 are counting down a year end chart. It's on New Year's Eve and is spread out over the course of the day time schedules, from 6.30am to 4.00pm
New Year's Eve 4:00am Jordan North 6:30am Scott Mills - official chart of year part 1 10:00am Gemma Cairney official chart of year part 2 1:00pm Matt Edmondson official chart of year part 3 4:00pm The Nixtape part 1 7:00pm The Nixtape part 2. 10pm The Nixtape part 3 until 1am http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2028008 I'm assuming it will be a top 100 with hopefully a proper top 40 countdown from 1pm to 4pm. It most likely will be a provisional end of year chart though as the actual chart year doesn't (or shouldn't) end until Saturday 3 January 2015. New Year's Eve falls on a Weds, Buzzjack loves a good countdown maybe we get a few members/mods to do an hourly countdown on that day but that 6:30 am shift will be too early for some |

YASSSS
no Jameela Jamil though but Gemma Cairney *.*.* not sure if it'll actually start at 6:30AM though, I guess that's just when Scott takes over R1. Have a feeling the chart will actually start later as we've had a similar situation before where we were told a chart event would start at 7 and it actually started at 8. good to see them actually making an effort with the EOY chart this year and a whole top 100 instead of just the top 40 too! |
