Spice Girls announce reunion
28 June 2007 - 14:01:29 Source: Music Week Iconic popstars The Spice Girls have finally put paid to months of speculation, confirming today that they are to reunite with a world tour, a documentary and a greatest hits CD. In one of the least surprising announcements to hit the music industry in recent years, the girl group this morning told more than 400 of the world's press, who had gathered at London's O2 arena, their plans for an 11-date world tour, which will include a London show on December 15. In addition, The Spice Girls will be making their first official documentary for TV broadcast around the world with director Bob Smeaton (Beatles Anthology, Who’s Next). EMI Music UK will be releasing the group's greatest hits album in November 2007 worldwide. EMI Music UK chairman and CEO Tony Wadsworth says, “The Spice Girls were a unique phenomenon and a great instance of UK pop music taking over the world. It’s great to have them back.” Ticket registration for the group's shows will be through www.thespicegirls.com. |
