Posted by: Charis 27th February 2019, 03:43 PM

Hello guys,

i was searching with a list with most top 5 hit singles in total in the uk. does someone have it or has a link for this?

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 27th February 2019, 03:57 PM

I'm gonna move this to the UK Charts forum coz it'll get answered a lot quicker there.

Posted by: deepinside 27th February 2019, 04:12 PM

Calvin Harris for male artist in this generation? Not exactly know how many top 5 hits he have right now.

Posted by: danG 27th February 2019, 04:18 PM

Calvin has 22 so far, that's only one less than Westlife's 23.

I don't think there's such a list in this forum but it would be safe to assume Cliff Richard's 40 top 5 hits are unbeaten (or Elvis Presley's 52 counting the re-issues, he has 36 if you don't count them).

Posted by: dandy* 27th February 2019, 05:18 PM

I think Madonna may have more than that?

She's got 44, not including re-issues.

Posted by: vibe 27th February 2019, 05:20 PM

Madonna has 44 I think
If u include me against the music .

Posted by: danG 27th February 2019, 05:21 PM

Yeah I forgot about her, it's usually elvis and cliff with these sorts of questions.

It's okay, so have the general public sad.gif

Calvin Harris will eventually move into the top 5.

Posted by: liamk97 28th February 2019, 05:09 AM

Interesting to see The Beatles 'only' on 25 Top 5 hits when you consider about 20 of them were #1s.

Madonna rightfully on top (reissues discounted).

Hopefully this will change this year ?

Rihanna could climb to #4 if she makes a decent comeback and throws in some collabs

We can hope... but it feels very unlikely to me. She couldn't manage a hit with Ghosttown last time around so I'm thinking it would have to take something quite special to make any impact, especially as she'll need a miracle to do well on streaming.

same here, first thing I thought was Madonna

even if Elvis beats her on a technicality

Posted by: M4NG0 28th February 2019, 03:00 PM

Would never have thought U2 would be that high in the list, I always forget just how many big hits they've had

Posted by: Charis 28th February 2019, 06:19 PM

anyone can help measuring a list with top single selling artists WW?

Posted by: ben08 11th March 2019, 04:29 PM

24)=PAUL McCARTNEY/WINGS - 16 plus 25 with The Beatles takes him to no. 3 with 41 Top 5 hits.

Posted by: pippa 11th March 2019, 04:47 PM

If Take That could achieve just 1 more it would push them up the list.

Posted by: Jay1982 11th March 2019, 06:15 PM

Jay1982 -- Thanks for pointing out that I missed one of Kylie's 26 Top 5 Singles. I've now added it in and she is in =6th place with Rihanna.

Charis -- A French Guy called Eric has a Worldwide Hit Singles Site. He has made a Table/Graph for each Act, and you can see all of
their Hit Singles Peak Positions, in a lot of Countries. You just 'Click-On' the Act on the right hand side, to see all of their Global Hit
Singles. In the Graphs he also tells you how many World No.1's they had, and Top 5's, Top 10's etc. He uses the Main/Official Singles
Chart for each Country. However, he's used the wrong Singles Chart for Canada. He has 'Dancing Queen' as a No.2 Hit there. In the
Main Singles Chart, it was No.1 for 2 Weeks. So ABBA should have 132 Global No.1 Singles, in their Graph - not 131...Beneath each
Act's Graph/Table he has put their Hits in more obscure Charts, such as those of: Turkey, Israel, Yugoslavia, Denmark, Poland, Greece,
Portugal, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Mexico etc.

Fascinating information. Madonna such a star wub.gif

Really hope she can get it back with this new album, she needs to ditch the 'superficial look at me I'm provocative' theme she's been doing since Hard Candy, and do something meaningful again. Push the boundaries with music rather than by being deliberately trashy.

Posted by: zeus555 12th March 2019, 01:00 PM

Eric has also used a points System, to work out the World's Top 494 Singles Acts - based on the Peaks of their
Hit Singles in each Country. Some Acts are rather low in the List, such as Queen, (No.33), Coldplay, (No.39), and
Bruce Springsteen, (No.90). This is because they were far bigger as Global Album Chart Acts. They'd be much
higher, if it were a List based on the World's Album Charts...

THE WORLD'S BIGGEST SINGLES ACTS -- LINK:

NOTE -- Eric's Top 494 Acts List is only based on those Acts that he's chosen to work on
- so far. There will be some Acts - that he's yet to work on - who would be on the List.

Although Eric has done a Table/Graph for U2, he has forgotten to include them in his List of the
World's Top 494 Acts. Which is 495 Acts, when U2 are included.

Using Eric's Points System, U2 have 8,513 points. That is enough to put them in 11th place -
pushing Elton John down to 12th place.

I've Emailed Eric about this and he says that he will include U2 ASAP...
