BuzzJack Music Forum _ Pop _ Maroon 5 - This Summer's Gonna Hurt

Posted by: Cody Slayberry 6th May 2015, 08:35 AM

From Sean Ross' Twitter:

Sean Ross @RossOnRadio
Label updates title: "This Summer's Gonna Hurt." The #SummerSongOf2015 we'd expect from @maroon5. Impacting 5/26.

So while the UK is still struggling to get "Sugar" out of the top 40, the entire world has to brace ourselves for what will ultimately become another giant M5 juggernaut. Great. dry.gif

If it's anything like MLJ or OMN (or even "Misery") then I'm all for it.

Posted by: steve201 6th May 2015, 09:36 AM

Is it on the current album? If i like it i may have to make the purchase, some great songs from them this era.

No it's not on their album

Unpopular opinion, but please be more like Sugar than Animals or Maps. (Or This Love/Misery).

Maroon 5 are probably the most hit and miss artist for me.

Posted by: THEO. 6th May 2015, 11:00 AM

This is such an odd release strategy. I love Maroon 5 including "Sugar" but I've not known any artist that's managed to pull off a successful pre-album release whilst they've still got a post-album transatlantic top ten hit (well, apart from Rihanna's "We Found Love"/"Cheers (Drink To That)", but the latter didn't take off as much in the UK). Is this from a new album or a re-release of V?

Brand new music from them?

Still annoyed It was Always You wasnt given a proper release - could have made the album huge!

Posted by: slowdown73 6th May 2015, 12:04 PM

I suspect the album may get re-released given this new song is about to debut which isn't on their album. I love sugar. Its a classic song. It was always you should have been released as a proper single too.

Posted by: Robot 6th May 2015, 02:52 PM

Totally the right strategy, they're wise enough to realise that you can't take big breaks in this industry at the moment and you have to continue capitalising on the hype that you've got. I'd happily see them fall off the face of the earth but they're doing exactly the right thing in this sense to just keep throwing new material out.

Either that or it means they are working on their sixth album

Posted by: slowdown73 6th May 2015, 03:09 PM

It seems a bit premature to be starting on a new album just yet. A reissue seems more likely. There have only been 3 singles from V so far - so still more room to reignite album sales.

Posted by: Regina 6th May 2015, 03:12 PM

Animals pt.2 please. I will accept the fact that Unkiss Me was never released if the new song is as good as that or Animals.

Tell all your friends! #ThisSummerM5 will be available this Friday, May 15th on @iTunesMusic!

Sugar is by far and away the best thing from the era, looking forward to this and hoping it's not too much like the other two singles!

So weird though, as they literally fell off the earth and 'flopped' when their 3rd album came out. I think Adam Levine being on The Voice helped their comeback in to the mainstream, and having a monster hit like Moves Like Jagger of course. That said, now they're even bigger than around 04-07.

'It Was Always You' is - which still remains unreleased. sad.gif

The track was premiered through iHeartRadio and you could listen to it http://news.iheart.com/articles/music-on-demand-482562/listen-to-maroon-5s-new-song-13593703/.

So much better than any of their singles from V in my opinion~

Posted by: Cody Slayberry 15th May 2015, 09:07 PM

A deluxe version of V was released today, containing this song.

Lyric Video:

Posted by: jark 15th May 2015, 09:31 PM

Quite a big song.

"I check my phone when I am weak, she never posts anything deep" however...

Posted by: slowdown73 15th May 2015, 09:42 PM

I don't think its as good as some of the other stuff on V. Can't seem to find the re-release of the album anywhere?

Posted by: Dobbo 15th May 2015, 09:45 PM

Already sounding like a vast improvement on the unbearable Sugar.

They do have a lot of great songs in their discography, just haven't particularly like their V era, aside from the amazing Animals.

Posted by: ┌ ╫ ┘ 15th May 2015, 10:18 PM

they remind me of a children's birthday party version of U2

Posted by: Joe. 15th May 2015, 10:20 PM

Love this.

Posted by: mr_aly 21st May 2015, 11:29 PM

Weird song. laugh.gif Kind of out there for an act of their ilk.

Posted by: Juranamo 22nd May 2015, 12:27 PM

Should the title of this thread not be changed to 'This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like a Motherf****r'?[/pedant] tongue.gif

Posted by: MĪth 22nd May 2015, 12:34 PM

Not a fan. The swearing is entirely unnecessary and it's really not my style.

Posted by: JVSH 22nd May 2015, 01:02 PM

The last part of the song is very reminiscent to Gaga's Mary Jane Holland isn't it?

Posted by: Rob S~ 26th May 2015, 11:02 PM

Okay so on first listen I found this pretty dreadful but it's growing on me like a rash. Such an odd but addictive tune now and completely different to anything they've done before wub.gif

BTW here's the first live performance on The Voice (OBVS...)

Adam vox here is a bit painful :/ as much as I am a fan of theirs!

I didn't like it but it's growing. Please can we stop chasing hits and go back to something Songs About Jane esque though? I don't mind the swearing but it does feel like it's being forced in for the sake of it.

Am I the only one who puts on socks before pants then.

Posted by: Juranamo 31st May 2015, 01:23 PM

I put my socks on first too.

Posted by: Regina 31st May 2015, 01:25 PM

Socks are always the last thing I put on.

Posted by: dhwe 31st May 2015, 01:28 PM

(can't be bothered with most maroon 5 stuff but i kind of love this oops)

Posted by: rob_s 31st May 2015, 01:29 PM

I love this more for the fact the song is so unusual for them laugh.gif they need to put in on Spotify ASAP tbh. (dies of laughter at it winding all the h8ers up when it'll undoubtedly be big tongue.gif )

Posted by: Henderella 31st May 2015, 01:39 PM

I love the swearing in this but it would be a regular basic bitch MLJ era-esque song without it.

I know I should put on socks first (coz easier duh!) too but I forget more often than not.

Posted by: T Boy 31st May 2015, 02:05 PM

On a work day the dressing order must be:

Boxers, socks, shirt, tie, trousers, belt, watch, shoes, coat.

Socks on first seems weird.

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 1st June 2015, 04:12 AM

I don't quite like it.

Pimps and major CEOs. Not sure which one is T Boy there

BOTH.

I feel naked without a watch.

Posted by: Cody Slayberry 3rd June 2015, 03:14 PM

Really just stabilizing in that lower 20's/upper 30's range in U.S. iTunes. So proud of it tbh

It was also added by Radio Disney last week ohmy.gif apparently that version makes much more sense than the actual radio edit tongue.gif

Honestly keeping the original title because it goes by both #Justice4RadioEdit

Just heard this for the first time on The Box. Tune! The chorus is the best part.

Posted by: Cody Slayberry 6th July 2015, 02:37 AM

Remixed by Alesso using the title "This Summer":

Posted by: Vülker 6th July 2015, 10:44 AM

When is any of this getting on UK Spotify? nocheer.gif

Posted by: T Boy 6th July 2015, 02:45 PM

This isn't released until August. How ridiculous.
