BuzzJack Music Forum _ Taylor Swift _ exile • US Radio Single

Posted by: UltraFolklore 27th July 2020, 10:01 PM

I'm gonna give this it's own thread with exile now being officially pushed to US radio on the alternative format!!! it'll be interesting to see how Taylor does on there, the appearance of Bon Iver will def help.

Also this is currently the highest folklore song on UK iTunes (#19) and third highest on US iTunes (#5), but it's been ahead of cardigan on there since Friday afternoon to literally 20 minutes ago!

I think this could be a surprise massive success heart.gif like a very very mini shallow if it really takes off or even do similar to stay? (obvs nowhere near as big as shallow) I can also see this possibly being the song they submit for ROTY/SOTY at the Grammys so yep it's getting it's own thread

Posted by: ...ready for it 27th July 2020, 10:27 PM

I figured they would push Exile next.

Posted by: benj 28th July 2020, 11:13 AM

Exile is my favourite song on the album, glad to see it get a small push!

I’ve only heard the three tracks that are looking to make the UK chart and this is easily the best of them, hopefully it gets to overtake Cardigan soon. didn’t expect to like a Taylor piano ballad more than all her singles from her last two eras.

honestly at this rate I think its overtaking cardigan by next week laugh.gif it's ahead on iTunes and is closing the gap more and more on Spotify each day!

same for the US too (it's #4 there atm, its overtaken the 1 now) and it'd be her highest song if it wasn't for swifties pushing cardigan for #1! (tho I think cardigan will stay ahead in the US for a while)

Midweeks today:
8 Taylor Swift feat. Bon Iver - exile *
(and the 1 is at 9)

exile seems to be pretty secure to stay top 10 cheer.gif I think it could drop to 9 but it can hold onto 8th! the 1 is def more vulnerable, I'd say it's def getting overtaken by 10th. it's being outsold by 11 too but minimally enough atm that it should hold onto 10th as long as we don't collapse in the next couple days!

I’m screaming at this *.*

I. love this so much, has easily become my fav Taylor song ever

From a songwriter's perspective the song is perfect, it's like a lesson in song-writing, the bits that Justin sings from a guy's point of view about being clueless about relationships and how for us everything seems always fine, and then Taylor sings from the female perspective and everything is different... love the bit when Justin sings there were no signs while Taylor sings there were so many signs, that's genious.

Also love the fact that she sings it with Justin. A few years back she would have chosen Ed frickin' Sheeran, which would have just been so wrong on so many levels, but having Justin is perfect and especially having Justin sing in full voice not in falsetto.

Posted by: London81 30th July 2020, 11:15 AM

I really get what you say about the shift from Ed to Justin. In my opinion, the time away from the rat race has given her fresh perspective and allowed her to become her authentic self, something that was beginning during the Lover era. I think the lack of influence from her record label has also allowed this. I’ve been listening to her albums since 1989 and have thought they were great, but this has really got my attention

added to Hot Hits UK cheer.gif

some more stability on Spotify hopefully then yasss <3

Posted by: UltraFolklore 31st July 2020, 12:11 PM

also added to today's top hits at #15 cheer.gif (+ she's the cover on there too <3)

anyone else think this might overtake cardigan in the next couple weeks? kink.gif

Posted by: Bjork 1st August 2020, 02:47 PM

Exile debuts at #3 in Ireland even higher than Cardigan at #4 (The 1 is also new at #6)
Irish people have taste!!!! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Rob S 1st August 2020, 03:03 PM

I've not heard the album all the way through yet (what's taking me so long!!) but I think this is definitely without jumping on the bandwagon.. the best song thus far. Such an endearing feel about it and the voices blend so perfectly. I'm glad Taylor decided to go with a non chart force star like Ed or even Lewis for this.

yep I def think so! with how consistent they've been on streaming, exile & the 1 (the latter moreso in the US) can def be massive and bigger than cardigan I'm thinking! They really should push this for the Grammys too I'm thinking

Posted by: UltraFolklore 7th August 2020, 11:19 AM

this has now overtaken the 1 on UK Apple Music for the first time!

Posted by: UltraFolklore 7th August 2020, 03:42 PM

#21 this week!!

so close to a 2nd week top 20 aha!! cry.gif hopefully it'll get one eventually! (tho it is higher than I was expecting haha)

the 1 at #31 this week too, so close to top 30!!

Posted by: UltraFolklore 8th August 2020, 11:36 AM

and this has now overtaken cardigan on US Spotify! ohmy.gif (it's at #7 with 898k whilst cardigan is #9 with 891k)

Posted by: London81 8th August 2020, 02:27 PM

Yup it was only a matter of time cool.gif Could be a real sleeper hit...

Posted by: UltraFolklore 10th August 2020, 04:48 PM

#32 in the midweeks, hopefully it'll get another week top 30!

the 1 is at #48 so I'd be surprised if that got back into the top 40 ahh sad.gif

Posted by: UltraFolklore 14th August 2020, 03:16 PM

falls 12 places to #33 this week

chart-run to date: 08-21-33

hopefully it should start stabilising now!

Posted by: UltraFolklore 17th August 2020, 04:49 PM

down to #44 in today's update cry.gif hopefully it'll manage another week top 40 ahh

Posted by: dandy* 17th August 2020, 10:55 PM

This just keeps on growing for me, it’s my favourite song right now by some distance. The so many signs interplay section is just wonderful wub.gif

Posted by: UltraFolklore 20th August 2020, 11:30 PM

removed from hot hits UK + today's top hits (It's been off the latter for nearly a week)

I'm hoping this means they're gonna properly push it and re-add it in a couple weeks when they're fully done with cardigan. Knowing Taylor here's another spotify messT incoming

Posted by: Bjork 21st August 2020, 12:08 PM

boo at these being talken off playlists

still love it so much, with my best friend we're trying to learn it on guitar/piano, it actually sounds amazing in the original key but it's totally impossible to sing, Justin's parts are too low to sing and Taylor's too high biggrin.gif a mess ;D

Posted by: UltraFolklore 21st August 2020, 03:02 PM

Yassss it sneaks another week top 40 after being just outside in all the mids this week! cheer.gif

This is definitely cementing itself as an absolute favourite of mine heart.gif

Posted by: John-James 21st August 2020, 03:24 PM

we love to see it

Posted by: Fallin' Folklore 24th October 2020, 03:38 PM

Hashtags for this and betty with the TS logo now appear on twitter + the cardigan music video hashtag no longer has the logo

Looks like they may be pushing them both as a double single! Video on Friday? SNL next weekend?

(Watch this amount to nothing ahaha)

exile scores top ten at a seventh different radio format: https://www.billboard.com/articles/business/chart-beat/9475190/taylor-swift-exile-top-10-adult-alternative-songs-bon-iver

slay cheeseblock.png

I have a feeling we're gonna get this & Betty as singles + videos on the 13th November, we all know Taylor can never resist anything with 13th in the number and it sets up nicely before the final releases a week later!

(*nothing happens for the rest of 2020)

Posted by: UltraFolklore 23rd November 2020, 01:13 AM

prayer circle for video dropping tonight

Posted by: ...ready for it 25th November 2020, 10:12 PM

They really should push this now.

Posted by: Tafty 26th November 2020, 01:59 AM

Agreed. A full push of this and it'd still be a massive hit for her. I'm so baffled as to why it's not been given it yet!

But anyway, may as well capitalise on the hype of the Disney+ movie hype!

Posted by: UltraFolklore 26th November 2020, 03:51 AM

yep honestly with the grammys/disney+ hype rn, surely they're gonna push this ASAP if it gets a push?! I'm thinking video this Friday or next, if not lowkey think this ain't getting pushed sad.gif

Posted by: UltraFolklore 26th November 2020, 02:31 PM

this is 177 on UK Spotify (2 spaces behind cardigan), climbing in the US & re-entered global top 200

Can they PLEASE just push this now ahhh

Posted by: ...ready for it 26th November 2020, 10:24 PM

I suppose they won't push it. dry.gif

Posted by: UltraFolklore 27th November 2020, 04:58 PM

up to 149 on UK Spotify & overtook cardigan!! PUSH IT. FFS.

I think there gonna send this to radio real soon, though I'm low-key not expecting a proper video, I think the video will be consisting of the film footage + the live performance, a bit similar to the 'music video' for Adele's When We We're Young
