They're playing Daddy Yankee's verse, which radio always cut out.

Radio 1 always play it, no? ohmy.gif

Despacito feels so much bigger than Shape Of You.

Anyone else?

Shape of You has totally defined this year I think, says it all that it's barely left the top 40 all year!

Biggest gap between #1 and #2 on the year-end chart since 1997?

Yes, thanks Joseph for hosting this - so glad Radio 1 gave us a 6 hour countdown for this year!

I still wish Castle and Shape could've switched places, I might have had mainly positive things to say about Ed Sheeran if that were the case...

Very well done on running this though Joseph and the chart mod team, I think I would've exploded had I been here for the whole six hours kink.gif

what a shock basil.gif

It hit #1 almost every EOY chart worldwide especially at anglosphere countries chart (Ed did double on Billboard EOY #1 for both US/Canada, and then NZ EOY #1 a week ago, and this. Aus EOY #1 would be obviously him did double again.)

Excellent hosting Joseph. Too bad the YE chart itself couldn’t be as excellent.

From the various times I heard it on Radio 1, they would cut all of his verse and repeat Justin's first part of the song instead.

I don't listen to R1 outside of the chart but I've never heard this version! ohmy.gif

Thanks for the kind words guys, this year's EOY went much more smoothly than last year thanks to my new super fast computer kink.gif glad you all enjoyed the thread, and all of the chart threads this past year, it's a lot of effort but speaking for myself, I know I enjoy putting in the work/hosting the chart thread every week heart.gif

couldn't be here for most of this but it was a great read, so much work goes on behind the scenes so it's good to see it appreciated.

I really hope Ed Sheeran bores off for 2018 but that won't happen.

I listened to this at work - why did they count down the sales only Top 10, are Radio 1 moving to the sales only chart next year or was it just a mistake?

It was a mistake, he corrected himself a bit later on in the show.
