British pop star Frankie Sandford has checked into a clinic for undisclosed reasons.

The Saturdays star has been missing from recent personal appearances with the band, and she admitted to fans in a message on Twitter.com last week (ends16Oct11) that she had been unwell.

She wrote, "Sorry I haven't Tweeted in a while. I've not been very well. Miss u (sic). I'll b (sic) back soon."

Sandford's spokesperson has told Britain's Daily Star that the singer has sought professional help for "unconfirmed reasons."

I find this quite worrying...

What sort of clinic?

Posted by: Martyn 17th October 2011, 01:10 PM

It doesn't say. However checking into a clinic isn't really ever a good thing.

Posted by: shadow2009 17th October 2011, 01:25 PM

It might *only* (I use the word loosely) be for exhaustion. I mean, the girls have been working non stop since their debut. sad.gif

I hope we get an official statement soon. This just seems like a shock, it was all going so well! sad.gif

I have to say, I'm quite worried for the tour now. What with Una being pregnant, now Frankie will be surely missing a number of rehearsals...

The girls have been supporting of Frankie on Twitter, I hope all is well sad.gif

She is a 'part time member' now!

Posted by: 2ndAdventure 16th November 2011, 06:55 PM

Where is their source? There isn't one. She's been "part time" for nearly 2 months now, it seems weird timing to 'anounce' this now to the press. We've already cottened on! laugh.gif

I guess it's just probabbly a bit of publicity, I mean they even posted about the video remix for My Heart Takes Over.. mellow.gif

Digital Spy make anything news!

There isn't actualy any refrence to Frankie being part time in that article anywhere. I wonder what they are going to say/get asked on Loose Women on Friday though.

So is she pregnant, on drugs, depressed, having a boob job?

No confirmation. It's not drink or drug related (confirmed), nor is it for cosmetic surgery (confirmed). Depression / exhaustion is likely.

I've always had Mollie down for surgery first, especially after I read an interview where she said she wished she had a bigger chest lol.

Posted by: Martyn 8th December 2011, 04:02 PM

Also now confrimed for what it isn't an eating disorder either. Acording to an interview the girls did with The Sun.

I also doubt they would hide if it was exsaustion, as that is something that a pop star is naturaly going to have at some point. I reckon it will have been depression. Although it might have been something much more serious... We can only really speculate for now though.

Posted by: lee wallace 8th December 2011, 05:17 PM

Frankie's announced she will explain everything soon for her fans.

Posted by: jark∞ 8th December 2011, 05:39 PM

This whole tactic of avoiding answering and saying that she'll explain soon is ridiculous. I can only imagine they want the PR that it gives them in the glossy magazines with speculation over whether Frankie has a drug problem or whatever. Just put out a bloody statement already.

My first thought is now... abortion gone wrong ohmy.gif

"I was hospitalised, it wasn't rehab," she told The Sun. "I don't think there's anything wrong with rehab. It takes a lot of courage to enter facilities to try to beat any addiction or overcome issues, but mine is a medical condition.

"I will talk about it in detail one day soon, for the sake of my fans, as they want to know. But I will say it wasn't alcohol, drugs or an eating disorder. And the dark days are now behind me. My family, friends and boyfriend Wayne Bridge have been wonderful."

Hmm, I wonder. ohmy.gif

I thought that all along, but depression is more of a mental health condition isn't it, rather than a 'medical' condition? huh.gif

Hmm.

I just can't see what else it would be if it's not an eating disorder. Would self-harming be classified as 'medical'? (i'm trying not to be casual about this, obviously i'm concerned for her and hope she's back to 100%)

Posted by: Neil 8th December 2011, 10:08 PM

It's very rare to be hospitalised for depression unless you tried to commit suicide or hurt yourself or something.
Besides, if she was in hospital for depression I don't think any doctor would think it was a good idea to embark on a month long tour in front of thousands of people so soon after having a bad spell.

Frankie Sandford has revealed that she took a break from The Saturdays to beat depression.

The singer was absent from the girl group for a brief period during the end of 2011 after being admitted to a clinic and missing a string of promotional appearances for the band's latest album On Your Radar.

However, the star has now explained that she took the break to battle her ongoing issues with depression, which caused her to stop eating and suffer panic attacks.

"I felt that I was worthless, that I was ugly, that I didn't deserve anything," Sandford told Glamour magazine. "It all started when I was about 15 or 16. I used to stay in bed a lot and had no motivation; I thought I was just being lazy.

"Since childhood I've been an over-thinker. I used to make myself sick with worry. I'd always have stomach aches and breathing problems."

She added: "I didn't do anything about it until it got to the stage when I was just coming home and going straight to bed. I wouldn't have any dinner, I couldn't talk to anyone."

Sandford confessed that she realised the problem was getting worse after she overreacted to her boyfriend Wayne Bridge buying her the wrong yoghurt.

"Suddenly my illness had control over me," she explained. "I got upset because Wayne hadn't bought the right yogurts; I managed to convince myself he didn't know me at all.

"It set off this spiral of negative thinking – if I disappeared, it wouldn't matter to anyone. In fact, it would make everybody's life easier. I felt that I was worthless, that I was ugly, that I didn't deserve anything.

"I had some counselling which helped for a while but then I stopped going when I felt better."

In October, the performer was admitted to hospital to overcome the depression and make a recovery before The Saturdays' first UK arena tour in December.

"There was a part of me thinking I was putting it on, that I wasn't properly sick, and only sick people should be in hospital.

"I thought that since mine was only a mind thing, I should snap out of it. I got so good at covering it up, I didn't confide in anyone."

She continued: "I thought I was selfish, miserable and ungrateful. I'd been given this amazing life, but I wasn't happy.

"I did lose myself, but I feel like me again now. But I try not to put pressure on myself – it's unrealistic, no-one is 100% happy all of the time."

Ah, so that's what it was.

Good on her for coming public with it and hopefully raising awareness. I've had 2 spouts of serious depression before, it's not pleasant at all.
There was a part of me thinking I was putting it on, that I wasn't properly sick So true, and this of course only makes the problem worse sad.gif

EDIT: Still a bit dubious about the extent of the depression, she must have done something to trigger a hospital stay...

Glad she is better wub.gif
