You've all had the chance to hate, and we got 32 voters dishing out a combined 3966 hate points! Which song has the most hate points this year though, there's only one way to find out and that's to follow this thread where me and co-host UltraXmasWitch will reveal, in order, the 48 most hated songs of the year.
Some fun facts before we get going: • we were spared from Silentó (last year's "winner") this year {although he does appear on a remix of Dawin's 'Dessert' which was R1-playlisted}, so we definitely have a new "winner". • the song with the most nominations was Calum Scott's 'Dancing On My Own', which got a mammoth 18 nominations, 6 more than any other song. whether this will translate into a "victory" for him is yet to be seen. • you didn't like Drake at all this year! he has SIX entries in this year's hate chart shortlist. • Drake's partner in crime Rihanna is the second most hated artist of the year. She has four entries, although she is the featured artist for three of these. • Other artists with multiple appearances are Calvin Harris, DNCE, Meghan Trainor and Shawn Mendes - as well as Niall Horan who has one solo entry and one as part of One Direction, and Ty Dolla $ign who features on two hated songs. 48. Hailee Steinfeld and Grey feat. Zedd - Starving 68-55-54-45-40-37-28-17-5-5-7-9-10-10-12-13-22-... (17+ weeks) 11 points I'm not really sure what there is to hate about this, and that's probably why it finishes last here with only 11 points (and 2 voters). Well I guess Hailee does make the metaphor for sex a bit TOO obvious, and the drop is another future bass vocal chopping effort, a trait that annoyed quite a few people this year. But really, this is a mostly inoffensive song, and I love it myself. Ultra probably loves it even more. 47. Digital Farm Animals and Cash Cash feat. Nelly - Millionaire 72-52-46-42-36-38-25-25-29-32-38-41-44-48-x (14 weeks) 19 points Now here's a song I don't like. Usually I like these future bass songs but this one is annoying. Have you ever considered Nelly, the reason you feel like a millionaire is because you have a net worth of $60 million?!? Well, that was until he was charged $2m in tax bills by the IRS #oops, but he's still rich. It also got used on The X Factor Talk Talk ad break every Saturday which really did my head in . The chorus is just annoying and overall the song doesn't work. Which is a shame, because I like ~99% of chart EDM. 46. Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman 17-25-25-24-25-24-28-21-17-24-19-25-37-44-51-60-65-68-75-69-74-x (21 weeks) 22 points The main problem about this song is just how slow and boring it is. It just plods along and goes nowhere. I'm not a fan of Ariana but she can do good songs, so it was a huge disappointment when this is what came out of her for her lead single. And it just had to spend seven weeks between #24-25 to spite me. Thanks a lot, British public/Radio 1. 45. I love Starving, Dangerous Woman and Pillowtalk, but Millionaire is crap. It wasn't the XF breaks for me but one of my housemates who'd play it ALL the time blaring out loud... I didn't particularly like it in the first place but it was probably the sort of song I'd leave on if it came on the radio etc., now I would skip it.

Starving and Dangerous Woman are both utterly fantastic and should be nowhere near this low down The former is one of my songs of the year and the latter is stunning!
Pillowtalk isn't amazing but is better than most of the songs here so wouldn't have it much higher than 45th! Millionaire is poor but there's worse! Next section will be coming up tomorrow probably as have assessments tomorrow that I need to prep for! |

Glad Starving is last here. I don't see what the problem to hate it was either really... maybe it was the lyrics 'I was Starving till I tasted you' sometimes lyrics like that can make people dislike it i suppose but it's a really good song
I didn't mind 'Millionaire' personally. The other two are ok too! |

44. Kent Jones - Don't Mind 60-39-26-12-10-10-9-10-13-14-16-23-28-33-35-40-46-49-60 (19+ weeks) 35 points Oops starting off with a song that I really like is a good start for a hatechart! Don't Mind is by FAR the best of the recent hits in this style which has infested the charts in recent years (e.g. Drake, see below for more bashing) and this is kinda a bit of a jam. Don't love it but I wouldn't turn it off if it was on the radio and glad it didn't come too much higher than this! 43. Drake - Summer Sixteen 23-38--52-69-74-x (5 weeks) 41 points And now time to start the hating *.* And lets start it with an artist I really hate, one who will be popping up 6 times over the course of this countdown. And if your hoping for some positive commentary to come later in this countdown for Drake, then you're in tough luck as I'll be covering ALL 6 horrors! And first up is the 2nd Drake song to enter the top 40 this year, entering just over 2 months before Drake domination was crap. Summer Sixteen was awful, not Hotline Bling bad comparing it to his songs released before this, but a bunch of noise and it was worrying this would become a bit of a big hit. Well thank gosh it only got 5 weeks in the top 75 and I've pretty much erased the song out of my head nowadays, thank gosh *.* 42. Calvin Harris ft. Rihanna - This Is What You Came For 2-2-3-3-3-3-4-4-4-4-7-7-8-7-10-12-12-12-14-16-20-20-21-27-30-34-35-39-51-52-x (30 weeks) 47 points I tried to like this. Like really tried to like this. But it is just so generic and not the good kind either. Also hanging around in the top 10 forever didn't help it either and this is easily one of the biggest disappointments of 2016. Disappointment really summing up what has been a terrible year for Calvin Harris music-wise (RiRi at least had like half of Anti which is great), not liked a song of his since How Deep Is Your Love (I realise that wasn't too long ago in terms of Calvin releases but still!). This just still falls utterly flat whenever I hear it, so dull and really crap. The drop is awful, this completely, utterly and unsurprisingly pails in comparison to the masterpiece of We Found Love (which slays but is still overrated oops). Would have this higher definitely, one of 2016's worst big chart hits. And one of the rare misfires (joining Innocent and The Last Time) from Queen Taylor, who co-wrote the lyrics as 'Nils something' (I cba to look it up!)! 41. Fergie - M.I.L.F.$ 56-x (1 week) 50 points (commentary by Dan) This may well be one of the most embarrassing comebacks of all time. Fergie had already started going downhill when she released "how many cities/countries I can name in one song?" but "Milf Money" is just unlistenable. I've still yet to listen to it in its entirety, because thankfully it didn't go top 40 or get played by radio. It all seems like a desperate "look how sexy I am" attempt at a publicity stunt, but the song just doesn't work at all. It's so annoying which is a shame as she could have easily made a "so bad it's good" tune out of this, in this case though she did not. That album's never getting released is it? |

I dont hate M.I.L.F.$ I just dissappointed. I think the most annoying thing about the release was that video. It really doesnt suit well with the theme of the song. Its just sexualised for no reason
Dont Mind and Summer Sixteen though are bad |
