Thought it might be easier to give the singles their own threads to make discussion a bit less confusing in one long album thread
The Sun have confirmed that Gary's lead single from his new album 'Elita' with Michael Bublé and rising Latin star Sebastián Yatra will be released next week!
They describe it as "salsa-infused pop" and about "witnessing the power of women" which sounds quite interesting! Should definitely show a different side to Gary, hopefully we get an official announcement soon!
This is super interesting!! Very intrigued to hear this single and album! Also, to lead with a duet...! Must be good
Does anyone have a copy of the interview in the Telegraph today?
Michael Ball or Michael Bublé?
Bit of a downgrade if its the former! He’s certainly become more omnipresent than the latter and would be there at the opening of an envelope
Cant wait to hear it.
I am so happy the campaign is finally ready to start.
Teaser image posted to Gary's insta story!
Its hard to know what to expect from the single in both sound and success.
Also, having three vocalists...that’s gonna be interesting on a 3 min song
Ya id say its something that came from his online sessions during lockdown.
I guess they're not going for singles chart success, which is understandable. The singles chart to the public is irrelevant now at the end of the day, so it's better to focus on album sales.
Im not expecting a let me go hit again but hopefully another top 75.
It will need support from various radio stations which is unlikely to happen.
hat have they done to Michael Buble's face?
Its like the take that line up!!
I think these are handsome men, on this picture all three of them looked filtered and photoshopped and not in a good way, not necessary for my taste
Gary and Sebatian look great, but it's Michael I'm not sure what they've done with
Michales expression is off, Garys jacket seems more like something Mark would wear.
Gary's on Radio 2 tomorrow from 8:30, very exciting!
Is Gary on hand to present its debut play.
Something to look forward to, I'm kinda prepared for not enjoying the new album as much as SISYL as I love that album. Also I havnt enjoyed take that's most recent material as much either but I am hopeful that I will enjoy some of the songs.
Sounds interesting. I do like Gary Barlow and have his last studio album and open road.
I did not like the last Take That albums that much. Gary is a great songwriter though with a feeling what is doing well. I think he will have quite a great success in the UK and Ireland. Unfortunately neither he nor Take That did well after Progress in Europe. This will be interesting to watch. He might sell 300,000 plus in the UK. All hungry TT, Gary and Robbie fans will download he album as a save bet. But the last albums of both Gary and TT shows that this was the end limit. If he can transport the vibe to Europe - maybe he can this time - then he might be in for a nice success
30 mins now! I expect the song itself will actually premiere around 9am though.
Has anyone heard this? It's not on streaming yet!
I loooove the new single. It is very catchy and salsa infused. Latin girl here likes it a lot.

Woah quite different to what I was expecting! I imagine it'll be a grower, but I'm liking it on first listen
Its different i will say that, it sounds like a Eurovision song in parts, it will probably a song that grows.
I like it, but I’d have preferred Gary to be singing the lines Yatra sings
Why would he release it on a Wednesday though??
It doesn't sound like Gary.
Not the sound that works to his strengths.
I'm absolutely loving this now
I totally love this! This is totally not the direction I was expecting, I thought it would be all slow piano ballads.
This is such a bop!
Is this type of song unusual for UK?
Most of the comments on yt are from Latinos and they all love it.
I am laughing just by thinking Gary has to dance to this
it has hit potential
Yeah it seems to be received very well among people more broadly - they may have missed a trick by not releasing it as a physical copy - but not sure it’ll chart with the way it’s all calculated on streams these days
I love reggae but don't like reggaeton like this. A little bit strange don't see Ricky Martin in this project
Back to Sing
Anyway, my respect to Mr. Barlow to touch new style.
I don”t hear the reggaeton in Elita. To me, it sounds closer to salsa.
Elita is doing well on iTunes! #6 and #19!
Added to the Radio 2 A-list!
Awesome!! It is a definite grower. I really like it and in front of a live band, it’ll be great.
Wonder what the promo will be like for the album...that’s the biggest unknown - i assume strictly and bgt
I imagine Strictly is quite likely, especially with there probably being some big band songs there.
Not sure about BGT though, as there's only the final to go (the last semi has already been recorded)
Strictly would love this, i have listened to this a couple of time today and its catchy and not what you would expect at all from a Gary Barlow release.
I liked it on first listen, but it definitely grew on me the more I hear it.
Still bummed they released it on a Wednesday though. Would've liked to see it (maybe) chart on the singles.
Sounds like Salsa to me , I like that kind of tune
My sentiments too.
Give it a shot at the least, I would have welcomed the release delayed until midnight tonight.
Albums don't get released midweek and the same should apply for singles.
It's all about whether they care about the chart, Gary has no need to now.
Other artists that don't care about the charts at all, like Fleet Foxes recently, who released their new album midweek.
Its dropping on itunes now, had hoped it might have went at least top 3.
I suspect it might have been on the first day when both the versions were high up, if combined.
I like the new track. A very fresh and different style but it works. I’ve preordered the album too.
Its def fresh and different. He def cant beaccused ofcreleasing a typical gary Barlow song like some critics often say.
#31 on the singles sales chart. Reckon it'll be at least top 10 and even chart on the overall singles chart if he released it on a Friday
A low Top 100 placement could be possible next Friday.
Looks like the video is coming next week as mentioned on Gary's livestream. If it releases on a Wednesday again....
It really won't make a difference what day the video is released
I'd love a vinyl or cd single for my collection.
Around 11000 sales in only 2 days, I”d say that is pretty good.
Gary does not seem concerned with the single charting and, tbh, I really enjoy not worrying about it either - it took away from the fun of new music. But, even so, he managed to sell in 2 days what others have sold in a week. If he had some promo lined up, he”d have another top 10 hit on his record.
11,000? Where is this figure from?
Surely he would've charted on the official singles chart then?
11,000 would be enough these day to chart? Oh my, I am old. How many does the hot shots sell like Billie Eilish or Taylor in two days? I have no idea but I guess around 100k then? Anyways Gary is right it is the album sales. I think it is risky to schedule a tour under these circumstances. Are they selling 20 percent of the arena now or 50%? I don't know about the UK but in NL and Germany there are restrictions.
Are they thinking that Covid left us until next year or is it simply the hope principle to sell more albums?
Difficult decisions for the musicians these days
11k cant be correct as that would be enough to go top 35 in the uk yesterday, must be 11k worldwide as going by yesterday's chart he sold less than 5k as I think about 4.5k was what the number 100 sold.

You can vote for Elita in Track of the Week!
I may be mistaken, but someone said that Elited charted at 31 on the singles sales chart. On the main forum, the 30th position sold around 12K - I know it”s both download sales and streaming sales -, so I figured Gary must have sold around 11k. Maybe I misread something.
”MoStack hasn’t had a Top 40 single as a lead artist for over a year but breaks that this week with Miss Me, which lands at No.39 (9,831 sales). Including collaborations, it is his 15th chart single all told and a 32nd for featured guest AJ Tracey.”
Surely most of those 9800 sales must be downloads, so, if no 39 sales 9831, is it wrong to assume Gary must have sold at least the same, even if he charted only on the singles sales chart? Can streaming account for that much at no 39?
I’m really disappointed by the performance of this track. It deserves a lot better, it isn’t even top 10 on iTunes
It was top 10 for the first day and a half but i expected ito be still in there to be fair.
Let Me Go was such a massive hit and this just seems to be having no impact.
I know LMG was quite a few years ago now though
This song just sounds so fresh and thought it would be perfect for the Heart audience with both Gary Barlow and Michael Bublé.
Its back at 10 on itunes, ya let me go was brilliant but i also loved face to face which didnt chart well, like many others his days of big success in the single chart are over but hopefully it will help sell the album, im sure we will get a 2nd single just before the album is released.
We can”t compare them, though. Let Me Go had huuuuge promo, Elita barely has a few Radio 2 plays, so, all things considering, breaking top 20 on iTUnes all on its own, isn”t so bad. There are still lots of fans who have no idea about the release and the song on yt doesn”t even tag the artists.
The song itself is quite good the problem is that it doesn’t sound anything like a Gary Barlow song so it could be putting a lot of Gary Barlow/Take That fans off. It sounds more like a Michael Bublé lead single. Then again what is a Gary solo song supposed to sound like as his last album could of easily been a Take That album.
I imagine the album overall will have lots of varied sounds, I'm quite excited for what's to come!
I think Gary will use social media alot to promote most of this campaign.
Debuted at #35 on Capital's Big Top 40 yesterday
That's not to bad, did they play it?
They did.
It didn't appear on yesterday's OCC top 100 update so I'm guessing it's not going to chart on Friday?
Unless a big surge of sales come you are correct.
On the week of the album release it could possibly achieve a Top 100 placement.
The singles chart has been a mess since they made streaming dominate a traditional sale. How a song that has spent nearly a week in the top 20 can’t chart officially in the top 100 is a disgrace
Well it takes very few sales to stay in the top 20 a week, traditional sales are still worth more - there just aren't many of them.
The traditional sales dont get enough weight, a paid for sale can be listened to as many times as someone streaming would listen to it but it counts for less. I'd love more balance but the reality is paid for sales are on the way out and streaming will take over all the charts soon.
A paid for sale also shows an increased interest in a song, since the person is willing to pay for it.
It's annoying that streaming has that much weight and people have lost interest in charts, since they are all over the place. I don't know most of the artists in the charts nowadays, cause they are always new ones.
Artists come and go alot now, its hard to see many of the acts in the charts today still been successful in 20 or 30 years time.
Completely off topic from Elita now but the ones who will still be successful in 20 years time are the ones that sell albums, there are loads of artists in the singles chart whose albums completely bomb. On the other hand, you have bands like IDLES, Catfish and the Bottlemen, The 1975, Fontaines D.C., Yungblud, Sea Girls, Sports Team, Nothing But Thieves etc selling more albums and selling out much bigger venues than a lot of the "singles" charting artists.
I think Sports Team in less than a year going from 450 cap. rooms to playing the same sized venues as Anne-Marie and Mabel says it all
I agree that acts that can sell albums and tours will stand a better chance of staying around. What im really not liking about the singles chart is so many songs are artists with feature after feature and i was disappointed Garys lead wasnt just a solo Gary song. Acts dont seem to have the confidence in their material to not have a feature, i know part of it is you get fans of the 2-3 feature artists streaming the song aswell and it does help streaming points.
I so agree with what you wrote feel_the_fever. Fully. These featuring started some years ago, but now it is like feature of a feature. I would have liked a Gary song by himself and I assume the next single will be one by himself. I am tired of the charts with the one hit wonders (generalized). The last song scoring there I really liked was Blinding Lights. I need a melody to hum to
really Alex, oh my, maybe that was what made me feel so well about it :-)
#26 (up 5) in the sales chart this week.
Static at #34 in Scotland.
Still no signs of the video.
I wonder when impact week is.
After the video drops I hope! That or album week.
I wonder has it any chance of charting even for 1 week.
It would really need a big platform...an X Factor style, but apparently he has a show coming out early December to support the album
I think he could get strictly aswell as both he and Take That have got on it a few times.
Having a show to support the album is a big coup.
Music video coming this week, Gary said on IG.
Did they chart somewhere?
Still top 30 on itunes.
Great to see it has staying power, just wish it had a big promo opportunity!
I still think he will get strictly unless strictly goes off air.
Strictly Come Dancing will struggle to stay on air with the growth of Covid.
Yeah, unless they go into a bubble like the NBA did
Music video premiering on.....Monday evening?
Looking forward to it! I imagine we'll get the next single at the start of November in a few weeks
If another lockdown happens it will make it hard to really build the alum hype, as there will be no performances etc but hopefully Gary engages and uses social media to the maximum to promote.
Gary is good with social media engagement.
I saw a snippet of the video yesterday, somehow MTV.IT popped up on my timeline. Gary in his pink blazer, Buble looking very strange in his face in the blue one from the promotion pic and the other guy I don't know looking good with spare clothed dancing ladies in the cut between.
Might be MTv-able, but neither the song nor the video is my cup of tea. Good on Gary trying something upbeat. I prefer the classic style.
Full video: http://www.mtv.it/musica/video/uz5czq/Elita?fbclid=IwAR2KrjlZ5-7whJczBFTX2gGYRwpgrdFGGtLb6KGcJTBmJHuIF5uJVVg4dBQ
The video isn"t very exciting, given that it was shot during this period and each artist was filmed separately, but the editing is very well done, under the circumstances. I just wish the video raised to the quality of the song. We could have had a story video, like Havana.
Its not the most exciting but for some reason i was expecting it to be that way.
Yeah it was definitely built up to be a big reveal. It’s an ‘ok’ video
Elita is almost at 1.5m streams on Spotify! 'Let Me Go' is his highest with 12.75m - so it's pretty good going so far!
up to 10 on itunes now
It definitely has staying power on Itunes. It is the 4th week in top 30 - top 10 now. All on its own, with no promotion.
I know I love it and lots of people do. If it were performed on a major show, it could chart easily.
Is it played on radio in UK?
Kylie often shows staying power with actual sales but streaming is just killing her.
9 on iTunes holding well.
In the old days before the reliance on streaming this could possibly be a number 1 hit with an organised release and 3 or 4 promotional performances.
Is it just the video drop that has boosted it? Is it getting airplay?
It had started climbing back on iTunes before the video was released. I just thought the radio stations had started playing it more.
Behind the scenes video:
Holding static with paid for sales.
I'd love to know how far off it is from an official top 100 placement this week.
maybe it will chart?
I'd love to know too. If the song and the video was released simultaneously on a Friday it will probably chart.
A low position in the top 100 tomorrow would be a welcomed outcome.
The video might reach 1 million views this weekend
Missed the top 100 again.
#19 on UK downloads chart
#20 on UK sales chart
#21 on Scottish chart
It’s just ridiculous
To say the least.
It's not in the top 100 of the Video Streaming Chart either
How can it be in the top 20 for sales and not make the top 100? Streaming must be looked at again.
Because sales are so low now, it staying top 20 there all week is likely just a few hundred people buying it
Its disappointing its not top 100 but i am not surprised either
It had to have been close to the Top 100.

Just seen the music video, very covid friendly
It did have some interesting elements but the plain background was a bit boring.
That Sebastian guy is quite good looking also I noticed
Elita has achieved good iTunes success.
Elita up to 11
Nice if it could get top 10.
Up to #6 and Incredible is #12
Could both make top 10 at tg he same time even if only for an hour.
Currently #5 and #41
No sign of Elita in the top 100
I was sure it would at least get a midweeks top 100
It is an indication that album streaming points are low.
Would love this to get a charting!
It isn't going to happen.
That said, Incredible, is doing ok with paid for sales.
Is Elita the biggest selling paid for single from the album?
