Sigala and co enter at number one!
Congratulations to Sigala, John Newman and Nile Rodgers, who enter at number one with Give Me Your Love. All of Sigala's previous three number ones climbed up the charts all the way to the top, but Give Me Your Love starts right at the top. It is Sigala's fourth number one, keeping his perfect single track record intact, and the first for both John Newman and Nile Rodgers. Rodgers, although uncredited, came rather close three months ago to the top spot when his David Bowie collaboration Let's Dance entered at #5, behind the all Bowie top three of Ashes To Ashes (at #7 this week), Absolute Beginners (at #14 this week) and Lazarus (at #17 this week). The only non Bowie song ahead of it, which subsequently stopped us from having a Bowie exclusive top 6, was Sweet Lovin' by Sigala. Subsequently, a David Bowie collaborator stops another David Bowie collaborator from getting their first number one. Until the release of Give Me Your Love, The Pop Kids by Pet Shop Boys (who collaborated with Bowie on Hallo Spaceboy, at #75 this week) was looking to hit the top, but settles with second place. Also in the top 100 from Super are Say It To Me at #12, Happiness at #22, Into Thin Air at #42, Groovy at #64, Inner Sanctum at #79, Burn at #89, Sad Robot World at #96 and Twenty-something at #97. Hymn For The Weekend sticks at #3, subsequently spending a 12th consecutive week in a prime number position. The SeeB remix of I Took A Pill In Ibiza falls two places to #4, thereby returning to the position it occupied four weeks ago. Lush Life falls one place to #5, spending its 15th week in the top 5. Her Tinie Tempah collaboration Girls Like falls two places to #9, spending a 6th week in the top 10. Say You Do falls five places to #6, becoming the second song to fall out of the top 5 from number one (Blonde's All Cried Out was the first). Speaking of Blonde, their Craig David collaboration Nothing Like This remains at #13 this week. Meghan Trainor remains at #8 with No, while David Bowie's I Can't Give Everything Away continues to benefit from its release as a posthumous single (and its video), and climbs 4 places to #10, swapping places with the aforementionned Absolute Beginners. Other notable tracks Thanks to Nile Rodgers's involvement with Give Me Your Love, the three singles from Let's Dance (an album he produced) climb back up: Let's Dance climbs 3 places to #3, China Girl moves up 9 places to #43 and Modern Love climbs 7 places to #53. Cake By The Ocean climbs 13 places to #25. Raging jumps 21 places to #40, immediately avoiding the possibility of it dragging around the chart without ever reaching the top 40. No Money enters at #50. It is Galantis's third top 100 hit, after Runaway (You & I) and Peanut Butter Jelly. The only other new entry is Tom Odell's Magnetised at #74.
