Chart Battle: Kylie - DISCO vs. Little Mix - Confetti

One of the most hyped album chart battles of the year is finally upon us!

Kylie Minogue is vying for her 8th #1 album with DISCO. Should it reach #1, it would make her the first female artist to have a #1 album in 5 consecutive decades (80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, 20s). Will she achieve this next week?

Or will Confetti become Little Mix's second #1 album? It's a certainty that it'll peak within the Top 5, and if I'm not mistaken they would become the first girl group in chart history to have six UK Top 5 albums!

Vote in the poll above, then let us know what you voted for! Feel free to share your precise first week sales predictions.

Winner - Little Mix
Sales - Kylie 41k (39k pure) Little Mix 46k (37k pure)
Preference - Little Mix (like both but LM have broughT the pure pop and the aesthetic this era)
Faves - Magic (Kylie) Break Up Song (Little Mix)

I'll go out on a limb and still say it'll be Kylie! I predict a very tight race:

44k for Kylie
43k for Little Mix

Kylie is my preferred artist to win the battle, but I do love Little Mix and would be very pleased for them if they manage it instead!

Favourite songs: Say Something and Sweet Melody

I’d rather Kylie get #1 because Little Mix will have the stronger chart run (well I imagine they will) my gut at the minute is telling me Kylies getting it although I did think Little Mix a few days ago.

Sales wise I think Kylie will do around 50-52k Little Mix 48-49k.

I soooo want Kylie to get the #1 - this album is one of her best and so much better than the LM album.

However my predictions are:

Winner - Little Mix
Kylie Opening Sales - 40-45k
LM Opening Sales - 45-49k
Fav Kylie Single - Say Something
Fav LM Single - Sweet Melody

I really want Kylie to be no1. The album sounds amazing and she totally deserves it. Not really a fan of Little Mix. I’m expecting this to be a tight race and think Little Mix will probably make it due to their streaming advantage but hope I’m wrong. Favourite Kylie single is Magic.

Kylie delivering a pop masterpiece of an album - the early reactions to it online are amazing too.

Hope she gets #1 but as a lifelong fan I’m just pleased she can produce a solid pop album so far into her career - the girls and gays love to see it.

Both seem really solid albums..

Want : Little Mix

Predict:
Kylie will be #1 - 51,800
Little Mix - 48,000

However, if Little Mix offer incredible performances on The Search and the EMA’s which gets attention could be closer.

I think the Cassette issue will be the downfall of LM as they’ve been totally removed from the site now, there’s hardly any interesting formats (Unless they end up surprising us).

Little Mix sales: 45,000 - 49,999
Little Mix (PURE Biasedness. Sorry </3)
Only heard Say Something which was cute. So I voted "Haven't heard".

I really can't call it now tbh. Wouldn't surprise me if either was 10k ahead of the other in the midweeks. Rooting for LM.

Really tough to decide still. I think Little Mix’s streaming and Kylie’s promo will cancel each other out so it depends on what their sales are like on the Monday midweeks.

I think Kylie promo though often relies on casual weekend shoppers picking it up. Lockdown may cost her quite a few sales

Am pleasantly surprised by just how good Disco is! I've no idea who will win, I'm just pleased to have an album that is so joyful, it is just what I needed at the moment.

My worry for Kylie is that none of her singles have landed. Her last era had a top 40 at least. I guess her sales will be mainly longtime fans only. This little mix campaign has been a little bit all over the place and none of their singles have been stand outs in their career except sweet melody. I’ll give both albums a play today and May the best album...win

Haha oh god I can’t believe we’re on thread no 3 for this chart battle. Anyway, as a good start, the iTunes Chart has frozen, so no idea if Kylie or Little Mix are ahead there.
