Top 40 Chart Commentary

• Avicii claims another week at #1 with 'Heaven', now up to nine weeks. It becomes only the 7th song in chart history to spend at least nine weeks at #1, a club that includes two other Avicii songs - 'Lonely Together' holds the record with 13 weeks and 'Waiting For Love' had 12 weeks.

• Avicii could potentially be kicked off soon however as the new Gareth Emery track 'Mezzanine' races up to #2. It is his 8th top ten hit of the year and matches the #2 peak of both 'Take Everything' and 'Amber Sun', the latter which completes the top 3 this week. Emery also holds on to #6 with album track 'Holograms' and re-enters the top 40 with 'Never Before' at #40.

• The entire top six is made up of either Avicii or Emery tracks (I stan a bit), leaving 'Overkill' to drop down to #7 now that the latest BJSC is over, and Armin van Buuren climbs back in at #10 with 'La Résistance De L'Amour', having been a steady riser ever since the Avicii album takeover pushed it down considerably.

• Mark Sixma has the biggest riser within the top 40 with 'Million Miles', surpassing the peak of his previous chart entry 'Panta Rhei' (#12) as it shoots to #11. Croatia Squad and AZ2A also climb into the top 20.

• The chart's overall biggest riser, and highest top 40 new entry comes from house DJs Solardo & Eli Brown with 'XTC'. It charts at #24 to become the first hit for either artist.

• The biggest brand new entry comes from rapper Aitch at #25 with 'Taste (Make It Shake)', his second hit following his feature on the #40 hit 'Keisha & Becky (Remix)'. He also features lower down the chart on 'Strike a Pose'.

• Also climbing into the top 40 this week is Armin van Buuren with 'Cosmos', his 24th hit and fifth within 2019. It is the second under his Rising Star project, following 'Again' (#23, 2016).
