BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ Friday Chart Predictions (Wednesday Update)

Posted by: JoeyJeppssonWall Mar 6 2016, 01:14 PM

Lukas Graham look set to claim a fifth easy week at #1 with '7 Years', and the only real new entry this week is potentially coming from Meghan Trainor with 'NO'. We could see Jess Glynne's 'Ain't Got Far To Go' hit the top 40, plus climbs from Tinie Tempah feat. Zara Larsson, Fifth Harmony feat. Ty Dolla $ign, Sia feat. Sean Paul, Alan Walker, Selena Gomez and G-Eazy x Bebe Rexha. Also... will Lisa Scott-Lee's 'Electric' re-chart after the Buzzjack campaign? ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

Adele is likely to head back to #1 with '25' on the album chart this week, although she needs to fend off new entries from the likes of Kendrick Lamar with 'untitled unmastered.', Låpsley with 'Long Way Home', Kano with 'Made in the Manor' and 2 Chainz with 'Collegrove' among many others.

Breakdown of the week

FYI, The 1975 are down to #8 but I imagine will get back to #6, ahead of the two new entries currently in front.

7 Justin Bieber - Lose Yourself

Now imagining Justin doing a cover of that, and how much more interesting/slightly terrifying it would be than that THING hogging up the top 10 for years on end. Chart doing nothing interesting otherwise. as bloody usual

Although, very happy to see Tonight Alive briefly top 40, I don't imagine they'll remain so but seeing them do anything chart-wise is good.

are The 1975 far from the top 5 in terms of sales??

They're on 7.9k so far and, like I say, should get to #6 but no higher, I don't think. I reckon it should stick around pretty decently when it gets added to Spotify.

Yes these are massive Sales and if The 1975 had released this week they probably wouldn't have made it to number 1, well done to them for choosing last week for their Release.

Looks like there'll be no new entries on Friday sad.gif I hope "Cake By The Ocean" manages to enter or for "Say You Do" to enter on streams alone

Looks like Adele isn't having to fend of anyone!. Almost 40K against 12k for Jess....Adele on 100K at least by end of week?. Certainly enough to take number one best selling album so far this year.

Noooo, that's waaaay too optimistic. I don't see that happening, rather between 60-70k

Not since the chart move which meant that the weekend effect had already passed by the first update.

Ahh.ok..thanks.. I checked last week and she increased by about 2.2 times, but I think first midweeks then hadn't had the Brit effect much.

Posted by: Ben79 Mar 7 2016, 04:54 PM

25 sold around 6.5k Sunday. if she sells Mo-Thu 6k that's 4*6 = 24k

39k + 24 = 63k (very rough estimation, but she won't sell 6-7k Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. These are the weekest days of the week)

Posted by: hotchoc26 Mar 7 2016, 04:57 PM

I know I'm doing my bit on streaming Electric 10 times for every version on Spotify, have been doing so all week.

Doubt it will reach the top 200 though, it didn't even reach the top 1000 iTunes sob.gif

Posted by: Envoirment Mar 7 2016, 05:12 PM

Great to see Adele get a huge mother's day boost! Should pass 2.7 million sales this week and overtake David Bowie for the YTD #1. The tour likely boosting the album a bit too.

Also great to see Jess Glynne getting a boost in the albums chart. Really hoping "Ain't Got Far to Go" can make the top 40, but looking very unlikely. sad.gif

Posted by: rundmck Mar 7 2016, 05:27 PM

Posted by: pippa Mar 7 2016, 06:27 PM

Great sales for Adele, obviously sales will weaken during the week with Mothers Day over but 60,000 seems possible.

Posted by: Ethan Mar 7 2016, 08:47 PM

fantastic stuff for alan walker cheer.gif ~ 'faded' is all kinds of lush wub.gif

would be amazing if 'i took a pill in ibiza' heart.gif remains at #2, although rihanna is likely push mike posner all the way with her sizable streaming advantage~

Posted by: ML Hammer95 Mar 7 2016, 10:11 PM

Work From Home sounds like a much more accessible version of Work to my ears. Work is very very catchy though, if slightly left-field for a huge chart hit.

Even so, the Fifth Harmony track sounds less basic than 'Worth It' but just as catchy which suggests a progression in sound. In short, both will be massive hits. (I prefer Rihanna/Drake though wink.gif).

Some big climbs for Mothers Day related albums -

Ronan Keating up 8
Cilla Black up 55
Enya up 36
Celine Dion up 11
Rod Stewart up 15
Jess Glynne up 4 plus first time it's been in the Top 3 since October

I don't see how Adele's tour can affect her sales, anyone willing to splash out a crazy amount of money to see her live will already have her album, so mother's day reason for sales boost, expect sales to go down a bit for rest of the week

I would probably attribute it to ant and Dec, rather than that limp effort.

Publicity. People sharing clips on Facebook. People talking about how good the gig was. Possibly more radio and tv airplay.

I think it's especially a big achievement considering the people who are most likely to buy the song would've bought the album (since it's very much 'safe ballad' Adele). She could get another top 10 hit if she released a more upbeat song like Send My Love or Water Under the Bridge since they're most likely to appeal to a new audience.

Looks like Lukas Graham could make it six weeks at the top. Hope Sigala can knock that borefest off the top. It could be tough as they'll have the NOW 93 effect to help them score a seventh week at the top

Considering how big the album is to have another top ten hit when more have more or less already got it , is just fantastic ! There is a lot of buzz around this tour in the press and on tv etc no wonder it's heading back to the top! I have tickets for Friday and can't wait ! 😊😊😊

yes, but the single got top 10 cos she performed at the Brits in front of millions... i mean, many artists struggling in the charts don't get that kind of promo...

You talk like promotion is bad.... tongue.gif

didn't mean that,
what I meant is that other artists struggling to chart would be doing better if given 1/100 of Adele's promo

Maybe there should be a weekly programme on telly. They could call it Top of the Pops or something like that tongue.gif

Adele hasn't actually done that much promo in the UK. Only the BBC Special, The X Factor and the Brits (unless I'm missing something). Most of her promo has been on US TV.

Posted by: Bjork Mar 9 2016, 07:04 PM

few promo but the bestest one... any artist would kill to have that...

22. Sia feat. Sean Paul - Cheap Thrills

*shaking cheeseblock*

Hope The Right Song can stay top 40 biggrin.gif

She doesn't need to promote to be fair , what she's done is enough! Brits is a celebration of all the artists have had done well last year so she should be year! Great sales though still!

Yes these are massive Sales and if The 1975 had released this week they probably wouldn't have made it to number 1, well done to them for choosing last week for their Release.

As Adele's sales have slowed down as the week has gone on it looks like The 1975 would have made it if they'd released this week

So happy that 'Cheap Thrills' is going to outpeak 'Alive' biggrin.gif

Any idea on how iii by Miike Snow is doing?

Any sign of Meghan Trainor's No in the top 40? If it doesn't make the top 40 then that will be a dreadful start to her 2nd album campaign.

Posted by: pippa Mar 10 2016, 05:02 PM

Lovely to see Enya having such great success with this recent release.

It's a new entry so would be in the update if it were top 40! It has time to go top 40 still, when airplay properly begins.
