I will take a look for US sales of their albums tonight but I can definitely give worldwide figures if you like? As of the last week of November:
Up All Night: 5,106,000 Take Me Home: 5,081,000 Midnight Memories: N/A Not sure if worldwide stuff is wanted but I will give updated figures when I get them if wanted, they're sourced from Mediabase |

Strange that 'Midnight Memories' has a higher peak position than 'Steal My Girl'.

The American charts are WEIRD. I wouldn't know if I'd smashed or flopped in that mess of a country.

they're an absolute mess - basically, most of the time, radio decide whether you have a hit single or not. Airplay's included and is also a promotional tool so whatever songs have more airplay would typically get more sales and streams. 1D have only had big radio support for WMYB and SOML and therefore the others all fell a little flat after their opening weeks.

I don't see the point in having charts that are so easily manipulated by radio and the sort. Makes the whole thing rather redundant.

I agree - streaming is understandable I guess as people are still choosing what THEY want to listen to, but with radio there's no choice other than what's on the playlist.

Very surprised by how 'Steal My Girl' has done in the US. I mean I suppose it's doing ok because it's stuck around for weeks, but only two weeks in the Top 20 (presumably one of those weeks was because of the video) seems far less than it deserves.
It seems that their biggest hits there are 'What Makes You Beautiful' and 'Story Of My Life'. Even though the latter missed the Top 5, it had a fantastic run in the Top 20! |
