It was Mathew trying to force them back together because he's poor now that he's stopped stealing from Beyoncé. I doubt there was any possibility of a reunion. They're all focusing on their solo work.

Yeah I'm bit apprehensive about The Cataracts as well... I did like Run The World and hope for one or two more tracks in that vein but the Cataracts are nothing but generic really, and the one thing I love about Beyonce is she never follows trends and hasn't gone electronic like everyone else seems to (except for RTW of course).
Like A G6 was a brilliant song and they are good with Dev admittedly, but Beyonce is a totally different artist... Ryan Tedder should be amazing with her again though, and Diane Warren and Sia always deliver a great track!

The xx's Jamie Smith has revealed that he is working on building a brand new instrument based on both an MPC sequencer and an iPad.
The producer and DJ told the Observer that he is planning on making a see-through device which will make music via "colourful graphics" and finger taps.
The band's vocalist Oliver Sim also explained that he has written a song for Beyoncé. He said that he has written a track which isn't right for The xx, but which he hopes Beyoncé would like to record "if he can work up the courage to ask".
Earlier this week, Sim told Q that he went for dinner with the pop legend around the time of BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend in June. He said: "We all went for dinner. There may have been a husband of hers there. I always had a lot of things I wanted to say to her and I completely choked. Beyoncé is very special. I think the super-pop thing that supposedly died with Michael Jackson is still there, with her. I saw her at Glastonbury and I may have shed a tear."
The xx will release their second album, Coexist, on September 10. To launch the LP, the band play a trio of intimate UK shows. They will take to the stage at the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on September 10, followed by gigs at The Coal Exchange in Cardiff on September 11 and Edinburgh's Usher Hall on September 12. They will also play Bestival on the Isle of Wight next weekend.

"Bow Down / I Been On"
The artwork features a tiara-wearing Beyoncé Knowles, age 10 or so, in a room crammed with trophies. The lyrics make the message clear: "I'm the number-one chick, I don't need no hype." Musically, this Hit Boy-produced diptych is a homage to B's hometown, Houston, with a woozy "Bow Down" beat that segues into a chopped-and-screwed rap. In "I Been On," her voice is pitch-shifted to make her sound like a 400-pound thug as she gets in touch with her inner Pimp C ("Gold everything/Gold-ass chain/Gold-ass rings/Gold-ass fangs"). All in all, it's her most aggressive song ever: a shot at the diva competition and a warning to anyone who'd take the wrong message from the title of her forthcoming LP, Mrs. Carter: "I took some time to live my life/But don't think I'm just his little wife." When she sings, she growls; when she raps, she sneers. Bow down – or at least take cover.
According to Rolling Stone, the new album is called Mrs. Carter. Not 100% though.

So! What happens when an overzealous fan actually manages to pin down the “Grown Woman” chanteuse and ask her the question on everyone’s mind? As Digital Spy reports, a Norwegian fan wrote in her blog that she went backstage for a special meet-and-greet after her Oslo show, where she had the audacity to ask that all-important question: ”Everything went so fast that I could only say that I love [new song] ‘Grown Woman’ and ask her when her album is coming,” she wrote.
The fan continued: “‘In November’ was her answer before her gaze drifted to the next fan. Got a faint feeling that she disliked the question.”
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha.
So, first of all, this has been translated from Norwegian (and it’s all just hearsay, not confirmed), so take the very specific syntax and word choice used here with a grain of salt, but seriously, has there ever been a more Beyoncé description of Beyoncé than this quote? The hilarious visual of Beyoncé, radiating apathy, her gaze drifting to the next fan. All those fans, lined up just for a glimpse of her, as she eyes each one of them with a wary contempt. Plebeians, she thinks to herself, stifling a gust of haughty laughter.
And then: “Got a faint feeling that she disliked the question.” Well, of course she did, Norwegian fan! You actually had the balls to ask Beyoncé this totally reasonable thing, which is when she is finally going to stop torturing her loyal fans and actually give them new music! Surely that’s not something she’s going to like. She’s not going to be excited about being implicitly called out for this wheezing lurch of a comeback, all these false starts and disappointments. She’s not going to spit on you or punch you in the neck (even though she probably wants to), but she’ll absolutely communicate — faintly and politely — that she dislikes the question. And you, Norwegian fan. She dislikes you, too.
In short: Beyoncé's new album is coming in November; also, she hates you.

He later posted on Twitter that his comment was taken out of context and he meant that his song was scrapped, not the entire album. The album has not been scrapped.

I don't know about the first two but 'Bow Down / I Been On' is the most forward-thinking Beyoncé has ever been. It would be a true injustice were the album they belong on scrapped.

Beyoncé is recording music in the studio while completing her Mrs. Carter World Tour, the representative said in a phone call to HuffPost. A press rollout will accompany any official release date (and, if need be, any official delays).

She's had the PERFECT marketing and promotion for an album that's never come - such a waste! I'm not her biggest fan, mainly because of the way she comes across (it doesn't sit right with me), but every album has had a couple of incredible songs.

Quite probably. She did have a writing camp set up in the Hamptons, with Sia and The-Dream etc. all there writing songs. I just hope that this album is more commercially successful than 4 but still retains the quality.

Well, by snippets, I mean the 1-and-a-half minute clips on iTunes; I think you can usually get a pretty good idea from listening to nearly half the song. But anyway, obviously it's possible I might change my mind when I hear it in full, although I doubt it.

I've not listened to the snippets, but from what people said, they weren't great representations of the songs. I was recommend listening to the songs in full. Except she's the Queen of hit singes? The woman had an era where she released music to her two main radio audiences just for hits... If that doesn't scream as wanting hit singles, I don't know what is.
This album release strategy is interesting, I wonder how it'll benefit her long term? She's obviously been taking release tips from Kanye.

What isn't self-indulgent and pretentious?
The Kanye "let's have a half-arsed album cover" trick to try and make it look simple like we don't care blah blah blah. Or maybe featuring her daughter on a song? Incredibly self-indulgent! Trying to be innovative by releasing music videos for every song.
I loved "I Am...", "B'Day", "4" and "Dangerously In Love", but this is just awful!

Anyway after one play I think it's a very solid album, much improved on the bland 4. I'm not really a fan of this "sound" usually (minimalist production, low key melodies etc) but most of it works here. Absolutely loving Pretty Hurts, Jealous, Rocket and XO. Presumably the latter will be announced as the pop single soon. Good work, Bey.

I just watched the entire album of music videos. It really is visually stunning and made me love the album so much more. I would urge anyone to watch it rather than just purely listening to it. Song breakdown:
Pretty Hurts - 8.0 (Great message, a strong melody on this as well, think it is one of the only single options)
Ghost - 8.0 (I love the production on this. Would have loved a whole song with singing on it too with this beat)
Haunted - 8.0 (Very good mood setter. The music video for this is brilliant too)
Drunk In Love - 7.0 (I can see this maybe getting released due to Jay and its urban edge, but I don't think it's the best)
Blow - 8.0 (Love the funk vibe)
No Angel - 5.0 (Can't really get into this, the production is actually quite, dare I say it, Solange-esque, but disappointing)
Yoncé - 8.0 (I can't help but love this, great fun)
Partition - 9.0 (One of my initial stand outs. Love the chorus)
Jealous - 8.0 (Possibly one of the album's catchiest offerings, another strong one)
Rocket - 8.0 (Love a Beyoncé slow jam anyway. Cousin of 'Dance For You')
Mine - 8.5 (The change-over in this works so well, the first part is nice but when the song picks, it is wonderful)
XO - 9.0 (Just has such a happy vibe. The obvious single choice I would think)
***Flawless - 6.5 (Was never that big on 'Bow Down', the 'Flawless' part brings it up a little but nothing too special)
Superpower - 8.5 (Grown on me so much already, just like I expected from a Frank Ocean offering)
Heaven - 8.0 (Video made me appreciate this so much more. Been better Beyoncé ballads, but I still love it)
Blue - 7.0 (Disappointing closer, I must admit. I like the verses a lot, but find the chorus melody a little bland)
I love this. I can't say I prefer it to '4' just yet, but I really think she has pulled this off so well. This album shows great restraint on her part, not only vocally but also melodically. Sure, the melodies maybe aren't as instant as her previous efforts, meaning single choices are slightly more difficult, but they kind of slowly creep up on you throughout the song and when they hit, they are really great.

Blow will be the International single then and for US Pop Radio where as I can only see Drunk In Love being for US urban radio. I love Blow but I would have thought XO would have been the obvious choice to lead the single campaign with. At least it is third I suppose. I also think after Blow and XO that Partition and Pretty Hurts should be the next two singles.

My Favourites are Blow, Pretty Hurts ,XO , Flawless , Partition , Mine and Drunk on Love but I pretty much like them all . The only one that is not really clicking with me yet is Rocket but I'm sure it will eventually .

While I am pleased that the quality of her music seems to have improved with the somewhat more innovative leanings, I do not enjoy an artist I like joining Kanye and Jay on the pretentious hipster road.

Her fans definitely put me off more though, but I think I'm used to it now and apart from the rare few gems per album, I've kind of got used to it and am happy to settle with "her albums are never going to be as good as the hype/her fans suggest for me". i think those thinking that the hype is off-putting is being a bit contrary considering most of the year we have to sit through the same attitude thrown at every other album going. the fact that this has attracted people from all sorts of demographics shows that surely it will be a good listen???? you don't get rave reviews for nothing!
and tbh asking for a full good (nay, GREAT) album of cohesive work from one of the big pop divas these days is a VERY big ask, so when it comes along we're gonna grab it with our hands and place it firmly on the pedestal. it is what it is.

This album is surprisingly excellent for me. I've never been a MAJOR fan of hers before although she has her moments (Irreplaceable, Beautiful Liar, Best You Never Had) but this is such a cohesive and forward thinking album, yet the melodies/potential hits are there and the production is flawless throughout. The videos are largely brilliant too, Yoncé is TOO amazing.

I am so obsessed with this album, it's probably a little unhealthy. I was travelling on the MegaBus today and purposely played all the videos on my laptop (with my headphones in) so that the woman next to me would see them. She tapped me on the shoulder, asked me if it was her new album and I said that it was and that I really recommend it. She then thanked me and said she was going to go and buy the album now.

Err... So I've finally watched (the majority of) the videos for the album and I'm just very confused as to why she's decided to portray herself in this way in some of the videos - she's not Rihanna, so she doesn't need to have her bum on show in every single video. As much as I'm enjoying the songs, the video release tactic definitely could have been more well-thought out. It's obvious that she's even used body doubles in a few of them as she didn't have time to film them all!

The videos were filmed over the course of months. She had time. If body doubles were used she must have had other reasons. It's not that uncommon.
Anyway the video anthology aspect of the album is the weak link in my opinion. Quite a few of them are just beauty montage sequence-style videos with nothing memorable to recommend them. It's always going to be the way when you shoot 17 videos, but songs like XO deserve big videos to match.
Still, it's the album of the year and that's what counts.

Beyoncé's Beyoncé sold 991K copies in its first 10 days of release. In so doing, it has become the best-selling album by a female artist in 2013. The old record was held by P!nk's The Truth About Love, which has sold 920K copies in 2013 (on top of 945K copies it sold in 2012). Beyoncé sold 374K copies in its second week, which was its first full week of release. It sold 617K copies last week, even though it was available for only three days in that tracking week.
Beyoncé's album ranks #1 on The Billboard 200 for the second week. Beyoncé's previous album, 4, also spent its first two weeks at #1, but its sales tally after two weeks was a much more modest 426K.
Beyoncé sold 235K digital copies this week, which puts it at #1 on the Top Digital Albums chart for the second week.
Beyoncé is a cinch to top the 1 million mark in U.S. sales next week. It will become Beyoncé's first album to sell 1 million copies in just three weeks. Her previous fastest album to reach 1M was I Am... Sasha Fierce, which took four weeks. Here's the number of weeks her other previous solo albums took to reach the 1 million mark: Dangerously in Love (seven), B'Day (eight) and 4 (an uncharacteristically slow 26).
If Beyoncé sells about 100K copies in the coming week, it will wind up as one of the top 10 albums of 2013. (Next week's chart, for the tracking week ending Sunday Dec. 29, will be the final one of the year. FYI, the album that is currently #10 for the year-to-date, Mumford & Sons' Babel, has sold 1,083,000 copies in 2013.)
Beyoncé is vying to become the first album to wind up in the year-end top 10 based on just three weeks of sales availability since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking music sales in 1991. The current record-holder as the album that wound up in the year-end top 10 based on the fewest number of weeks in the marketplace is Garth Brooks' Sevens, which ranked among the top 10 albums of 1997 even though it was available for just the last five weeks of that year.
Moreover, if Beyoncé winds up in the year-end top 10, this will be the sixth year that Beyoncé has achieved that feat (counting her work with Destiny's Child). This would put her in a tie with Garth Brooks, Mariah Carey and Eminem as the only artists to have made the year-end top 10 in six different years since 1991, when Nielsen SoundScan began tracking music sales.
Beyoncé is the singer's fifth studio album. It's rather unusual for an artist to release an eponymous album this deep into a career. There are only five other cases where an artist has reached #1 with an eponymous album this far along. Fleetwood Mac's Fleetwood Mac (1976) was that band's 10th studio album (but its first with the line-up that brought it to superstardom). The Beatles' The Beatles (1968, often called The White Album) was the Fab Four's ninth studio album in the U.S. (excluding soundtracks and compilations). Heart's hit-studded Heart (1985) was that group's eighth studio album. Metallica's Metallica (1991) was that band's fifth studio album. Janet Jackson's janet. (1993) was her fifth studio album.

Beyoncé, her fifth solo album, repositions the singer as the Houston-bred Yoncé, a woman lustier and surlier than B, more playful than Bey, fiercer than Sasha but softer and more natural than the lot. The album is brassy but elegant, its post-coital breath smelling faintly of cheap liquor sipped from a crystal flute. It finds Beyoncé shifting gears to pull off her most explicit and sonically experimental music to date, exploring sounds and ideas at the grittier margins of popular music.
It’s tempting to read Beyoncé’s hard edges as an attempt to ride the success of Rihanna or Miley Cyrus’ risqué agendas—but to do so would be to look past the album’s true provocations. Beyoncé pushes boundaries not because it sells sex at every turn, but because it treats a power-balanced marriage as a place where sexuality thrives. At a time when when young people are gripped by an ideological fear of monogamy’s advertised doldrums, Beyoncé boldly proposes the idea that a woman’s prime—personal, professional, and especially sexual—can occur within a stable romantic partnership. Monogamy has never sounded more seductive or less retrograde as when dictated on Beyoncé's terms. The innuendo can be bawdy and overblown—"Can you lick my Skittles/ That's the sweetest in the middle" on "Blow"—but sincerely so. And who would allow Jay Z’s instantly infamous breasts/breakfast line anywhere near the stargazing boom of “Drunk in Love” but someone truly infatuated with him? What’s more is that the erotic themes don’t feel out-of-step with the album’s more decorous moments, like the stadium-filling “XO” or “Blue”, its requisite treatise on motherhood. In Beyoncé’s world, there are illicit doors to be unlocked in the halls of tradition and vice versa.
The record reverberates with the energy of a conservative pop star navigating trends without grasping for them. Its crew of 44 writers, producers, and directors skews heavily toward the hip-hop realm and incorporates niche talents, something Beyoncé tried on 4 when she teamed with artists like Switch and pulled visual ideas from little-known European choreographers discovered via YouTube. It's the collective effort of an all-star team with a deep bench, with contributions from mainstays like Pharrell and The-Dream, to fresh faces like Chairlift's Caroline Polachek, a creative director from streetwear brand Supreme, and a practically-unknown producer named Boots.
Beyoncé’s best songs often reject traditional pop structures in favor of atmosphere—she may have taken some cues from her sister Solange, who now leads a particular wave of collaborative, left-field R&B. The record, her darkest and lushest yet, has a tendency to echo, stop abruptly, or place two separate songs in the space of one. Its most bracing moments are also its toughest and weirdest, like "***Flawless", a two-part growler that makes feminist TED Talk fodder sound legitimately menacing. Timbaland and Justin Timberlake join The-Dream on "Partition" in service of the mean-mugging Yoncé, who snarls and bares her teeth as though the most revered rapper of all time is nobody but her little husband. At the center lies Beyoncé’s practically unfair abilities as a performer—you get the sense that Lady Gaga or Ciara could no sooner pull off the scale or quality of Beyoncé than you or I could pull off a suitable rendition of any of its songs in a karaoke bar.
Beyoncé has loosened up her delivery, too, in a way that highlights her elasticity and shows her pop-cultural antennae tuned to the right channels. Who could’ve predicted that some of the most infectious snippets of pop music in 2013 would not arrive by way of anthemic chorus or assembly-line arrangement, but in Beyoncé’s ad-libbing? You already know the ones: Surfbort, she grunts on “Drunk in Love”, slinging a hashtag like it’s the name of a line of Ikea chairs, the single word serving as both shorthand for woman-on-top and a neat summation of an entire era of trends in rap cadence. You’d also be hard-pressed to find an internet-savvy person in America who hasn’t been possessed by the idea that he or she woke up like this, brain emblazoned with Beyoncé’s half-second I’m so flawless I gave myself a seizure dance. She's achieved the rare feat of validating meme culture by capturing its sneaky potency and delight rather than falling into its cheap, dehumanizing traps. This is a “visual album,” sure, but it’s also a package of modern codes and discreet campaigns, a field of meaningful virtual dioramas. In this sense Beyoncé has a newfound spiritual ally in Drake (Worst! YOLO!),—he shows up on Beyoncé on the bruised "Mine"— her only peer to successfully streamline an internet-rooted mindset into a large-scale pop arena and seek profundity in the process.
Which is all to say that Beyoncé has delivered on the promise she inadvertently made by dropping an album and and its expansive visual counterpart late on a Thursday night in December on iTunes, free of traditional fanfare. Call it a coup or just another victory for her mammoth PR apparatus, but consider the alternatives: The strategy probably would have failed if the quality wasn't there, and the album could not have achieved such an impact without its rogue—in spirit, at least—method of distribution. Beyoncé was unleashed upon the world in a way that could only succeed right now, with an aim to make the audience consume it the way it would have long ago. It’s a line that could be ripped straight from the mouth of an investment-drunk tech startup founder, but it’s true: Beyoncé seized the powers of a medium characterized by its short attention span to force the world to pay attention. Leave it to the posterchild of convention to brush convention aside and leave both sides feeling victorious.

Beyonce has announced details of a special edition of her latest album.
Beyonce – Platinum Edition Box Set will be released globally on November 24.
The 2CD/ 2DVD limited edition package will include the full original album plus new songs 7/11 and Ring Off as well as four new an unreleased remixes featuring Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Mr Vegas and Pharrell Williams.
The collection also includes a DVD of ten live performances from her Mrs Carter Show World Tour, a photo booklet and the official 2015 Beyonce calendar.
Beyonce first released her self-titled album unannounced on December 13, complete with 14 songs and 18 videos. The collection, which to date has sold 417,000 copies in the UK, includes the singles Drunk In Love, XO and Partition. Details of Platinum Edition Box Set appear below:

Yeah the album did not need a sequel or anything to continue from it, so a deluxe (or "platinum") edition is good. Might have to get hold of this too as it's the definitive collection for the era.

We look back on the success of Beyonce's surprise album a year after its release.
Almost a year ago (11 months and 12 days ago to be precise), Beyonce caught the music world unawares with the surprise release of her fifth studio album Beyonce.
And the release - which came after months of rumours, touring, Pepsi commercials and a show-stopping Super Bowl performance – did not disappoint. Not only did the record receive rave reviews (it made several influential end-of-year album lists), each track was accompanied by its own music video, giving you plenty of Beyonce for your buck.
With a special Platinum Edition of the collection including new tracks and remixes featuring Pharrell Williams and Nicki Minaj out this this week, Official Charts look back at the the incredible success of Beyonce one year on.
Despite being released on a Friday, Beyonce debuted at Number 5 on the Official Albums Chart that Sunday.
In just 48 hours, it sold 68,000 copies in the UK.
On December 16 2013, Apple announced that Beyoncé was the fastest selling album in the history of the iTunes Store, selling almost 830,000 digital copies in its first three days of availability.
Five weeks after its release, the album peaked on the chart at Number 2. The record has so far spent 13 weeks in the Top 10 and 21 weeks in the Top 40.
To date, the record has sold 418,000 copies in the UK, making it the 14th best-selling album of 2014 so far.
Beyonce was certified Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry on February 7th, denoting UK shipments of 300,000 copies.
As of November 2014, Beyonce has sold 5 million copies worldwide.
Drunk In Love is the biggest UK single from the LP. It peaked at Number 9 on the Official Singles Chart in January and to date has sold 458,000 copies in the UK.

I've fallen in love with this all over again in the past few days. It really makes 'Lemonade' look weak in comparison, even though that's a great album in itself. Upon listening all this time later Blue and XO stuck out as the two best ones, which is strange as I've never really liked either that much in the past

I feel like this album was the very start of her living up to being the artist she was trying to be. It's a great album.
