BuzzJack Music Forum _ Dance _ Dance Vocalists: Charli XCX

Posted by: awardinary 23rd August 2020, 07:19 PM

Who would have thought Charli XCX had so many dance collaborations with some truly noteworthy producers too. She may not have had great chart success as a featured artist, but her versatility is seen through these songs here. It was perhaps her feature on the UK #1 smash I Love It with Icona Pop in 2012 that brought her to the attention of the world. Since then she has become a sought after recording artist as this selection shows;

Lost In Space (with Starkey)

I Love It (with Icona Pop)

Smile (with Benga)

Diamonds (with Giorgio Moroder)

For You (with Miike Snow)

Hand In The Fire (with Mr. Oizo)

Banshee (with Santigold)

Crazy Crazy (with Yasutaka Nakata)

1 Night (with Mura Masa)

Love Gang (with Whethan)

Dirty Sexy Money (with David Guetta, Afrojack & French Montana)

Playboy Style (with Clean Bandit & Bhad Bhabie)

Spicy (with Herve Pagez & Diplo)

We Are Born To Play (with Galantis)

Which of her current dance features is your favourite?

Which dance producers would you like to see her feature with in the future?

It’s great to have a recording artist with so many different possibilities and someone who can take a song in almost any direction. I’m impressed by her back catalogue of collaborations and hopeful for much more in the future. I’ve rated her songs as follows;

1. We Are Born To Play (with Galantis)
2. I Love It (with Icona Pop)
3. 1 Night (with Mura Masa)
4. Spicy (with Herve Pagez & Diplo)
5. Hand In The Fire (with Mr. Oizo)
6. For You (with Miike Snow)
7. Smile (with Benga)
8. Love Gang (with Whethan)
9. Diamonds (with Giorgio Moroder)
10. Lost In Space (with Starkey)
11. Dirty Sexy Money (with David Guetta, Afrojack & French Montana)
12. Playboy Style (with Clean Bandit & Bhad Bhabie)
13. Banshee (with Santigold)
14. Crazy Crazy (with Yasutaka Nakata)

For certain Charli has much more to offer and she will almost certainly continue to record for music producers around the world and provide some dance inspired music for her fans. I could see her doing a future project with Tom Zanetti or Marshmello in the coming months but it’s literally anyone’s guess.

Oops accidentally went for Spicy instead of We Are Born to Play! (though Spicy is a close 2nd), can my vote be changed? smile.gif

'I Love It' really is the ultimate tune.

I can't bear that Mura Masa one, a shopping centre back home used to play that to death and it's so grating.

Dirty Sexy Money but I really like 1 Night as well. I Love It has been tainted by overplay.

I Love It
Always goes off when played in the clubs
Oh to be back to those days....
