    Chart Commentary
A big thank you to all those 11 of you who commented on last week's personal chart, including WiseManFromLeeds, Snaking Stevens, Sven10, Jason, RobinJuanPersie, popchartfreak, James Frost ⛄️⛄️⛄️, Santa's Haz, Riser, toffonews and Mango. biggrin.gif I realise that I haven't really been acknowledging your comments in my weekly chart, so I intend to reply directly to more comments in the future. wink.gif

No other song which has entered my personal chart has managed 4, let alone 5 weeks at #1, so clearly Rockabye is going to be up there as one of my best songs from 2016. By Your Side has been edging closer and closer to #1 since it entered the chart 5 weeks ago, and is a certain contender for future #1 on my personal chart, despite thinking it was a poor single at first listen too ohmy.gif. Cheat Codes fall one place, and Years & Years re-enter the Top 5 this week.

A re-entry this week is OneRepublic whose single Kids was a grower in me at one time, then it fell out of my charts and now it is back with a new peak at #5. Another re-entry from the previous week climbs into the Top 10 for the first time, and that is Starboy by The Weeknd feat. Daft Punk. Unfortunately, there is no room in the chart for any other songs by The Weeknd presently. The chart welcomes back Britney Spears following her single Make Me... earlier this year. Her collaboration with 2016 sensation Tinashe promises to be a hit end before the year is over. Rφyksopp falls to #10 and could be on its way out of the Top 10 by next week after a 12 week successive chart run.

Tove Lo enters this week at #12 with the follow up to Cool Girl entitled True Disaster. Brits 'Critic Choice Award' Winner for 2017, Rag'n'Bone Man climbs to #14. Everything else drops this week apart from the remaining new entries which come from Alma, Robbie Williams, Bruno Mars, Martin Solveig feat. Ina Wroldsen, Kφlsch and Lady Gaga. Some of these names could have a very good 2017 in the charts.

It's time to say goodbye to 9 artists this week in the form of Filatov & Karas, Little Mix, Wilkinson feat. Karen Harding, Seeb feat. Jacob Banks, Chase & Status feat. Tom Grennan, Jax Jones feat. Mike Dunn & MNEK, Tory Lanez, PaperClap feat. Alicia-Awa and former Zanmatony BJSC entry Metrik feat. Elisabeth Troy – Chasing Sunrise.

Please continue to show your support and I thank you for checking out my personal chart this week! biggrin.gif

Rockabye is not a bad song. Not my fave Clean Bandit song though. I definitely see why it's popular though; tropical house has been dominating Europe for years now tongue.gif

Whenever I see "Kids" all I can think of is the MGMT song tongue.gif I recall liking the OneRepublic song though.

Liking Starboy and 24k Magic hanging around!

Keep up the charting! smile.gif

Hi James,

It's been a good #1 this year to have, and the fact it has been officially too is excellent. smile.gif

I have been purposely avoiding anymore songs from The Weeknd as I still like Starboy, but I will check out I Feel It Coming soon. biggrin.gif

Glad you're liking Britney's latest release.

I wouldn't go as far as saying it is Robbie's best song in years, but it's certainly quite good. smile.gif

Thanks for commenting. cool.gif

Hey Harry,

Glad you like the choice of #1. smile.gif

Kids is a song I've liked for a while but it didn't really make a huge chart impact, but upon hearing it again this week I instantly remembered why I loved it before. I'd go as far as saying it is my favourite OneRepublic song.

Slumber Party is pretty good isn't it. True Disaster is also appealing to me right now.

Glad you like the other new entries also. smile.gif

Thanks mdh,

The Vamps did well working with a Matoma on this song.

I wasn't a fan of Places at first, but it grew on me. smile.gif

Rockabye still slaying, great tune from Clean Bandit. I really enjoy their music even though they don't strike me as people.

Anne-Marie has really grown on me this year and who knew Sean Paul would still be relevant in 2016??

Kids was a surprise success for me earlier this year - the live performance completely sold me on it after the single initially passed me by.

Nice to see debuts for the wonderful Tove Lo's True Disaster and Million Reasons, which has also grown on me a little lately. Gaga's Victoria's Secret performance of it was spellbinding - well worth checking out.

An interesting chart! Also shoutout to Peking Duck, is that getting radio support now or did you just come across it?

Hey

LOVE to see Slumber Party in top ten already, if only it was in UK chart like that sad.gif

Rockabaybe is okayish, much prefer Tears over it.
Lovely entry form Martin Solveig, he has a lot of good tunes!

Great chart overall!

arrow right.gif 1. Clean Bandit feat. Sean Paul & Anne-Marie – Rockabye [5-2-1-1-1-1-1] (7 weeks, 5 at #1) Unstoppable.
arrow up.gif 2. Jonas Blue feat. RAYE – By Your Side [33-7-4-3-2] (5 weeks) Last 3 weeks 4-3-2. So, I've a feeling it will be number 1 next week. laugh.gif
re.gif 5. OneRepublic – Kids [9-16-28-X-5] (4 weeks) Any special reason to this return going straight to the top 5? ohmy.gif
ne.gif 7. Britney Spears & Tinashe – Slumber Party [7] (1 week) Britney slayin' this chart. laugh.gif
ne.gif 17. Alma – Dye My Hair [17] (1 week) Thanks for this tip. One of the funniest videos of the year. laugh.gif
ne.gif 25. Bruno Mars – 24K Magic [25] (1 week) Oh! A belated new entry.
ne.gif 40. Lady Gaga – Million Reasons [40] (1 week)
Poor Lady Gaga. She doesn't have much fans in the UK anymore.
Hi Jason,

Clean Bandit is certainly unstoppable! laugh.gif

You noticed a pattern for Jonas Blue then, they could be top this week...

As mentioned above to Harry, Kids is possibly my favourite OneRepublic track. smile.gif

Britney could climb even higher this week. I'm still enjoying it a lot I might add. music.gif

I'm not sure I would find the video that funny, but whatever. laugh.gif

Bruno Mars is indeed a late entry, but I finally took to the song in the last couple of weeks.

Very disappointing to see Lady Gaga struggle to get a hit these days. sad.gif

Thanks for commenting, cool.gif

Hey 360Jupiter,

Rockabye is a tune and could remain #1 on the official charts this week despite stiff competition. Sean Paul's relevancy is uncanny! ohmy.gif

Glad to see you too like Kids.

Tove Lo is starting to gain some momentum.

I'all check out Lady Gaga's performance online soon. smile.gif

As for Peking Duk, it was discovered via Buzzjack, I think I saw a topic for it.

Thanks for commenting. cool.gif

Hey Nick,

I knew you'd approve of Slumber Party being in my chart this week. tongue.gif It could climb even higher next week.

Tears was certainly good, but I definitely prefer Rockabye.

Martin Solveig certainly has lots of good tunes.

Why is the relatively old Cheat Codes and Dante Klein (Let Me Hold You) Turn Me On only bern in your chart for three weeks - newly appreciated? ohmy.gif

Kolsch Grey is a bit trancey in places - there is a trance beat and buildup in places and it is a good tune.

Good chart as ever, you put much work into it and the chart commentary

Hey Snaking Stevens,

Yeah for weeks I disliked the Cheat Codes version of Turn Me On, preferring the original much more for its reggae sounds. But now I'm quite hooked with it and suddenly prefer it to their debut single Sex. smile.gif

I thought you might approve of Grey, it sounds different to much of the dance music in the charts today. dance.gif

Hey Andrew! biggrin.gif

Wow at Clean Bandit ohmy.gif there's just no stopping them! It's not getting old for me, although I would like to see something new at #1 in the UK chart.

Loving the double Cheat Codes in the top 10! Really love both tracks still, both muuuuuch better than Sex.

Britney provides my favourite new entry but also like the Gaga, Bruno, Tove and OneRepublic songs too!

Great stuff biggrin.gif
