So annoying that it seems like we’ll never get Hot Songs back.

Yes and he's in the bottom 7 in New music Friday on Spotify.. Not gonna help. The song is super basic, it will flop. He wasn't good never anyway.

Posted by: SevenSeize 12th October 2017, 11:20 PM

Some fairly big releases then, i guess we can expect Matt Terry to go Top 5 on itunes and Jonas Blue/Vamps Top 10?

Posted by: RobBob 13th October 2017, 12:12 AM

YAY at Little Mix reducing to 59p, been obsessing over it all over again since the video came out so as much longevity as possible pls.

Posted by: Zárate 13th October 2017, 01:03 AM

REVenge is such a weird but super infectious song. I really hope it’s another top-5 smash for this era!!!

For some reason Eminem isn't credited on the Spotify version of Revenge. This'll probably mean it only gets half the opening day streams it would otherwise :/

It reminds me a bit of Clean Bandit - Stronger in style especially with the backing singing in the chorus!

Kylie at #62 with 'Flower' after being prominently used in last night's Emmerdale. Not that it will but I'd be over the moon if this ended up being a hit at some point - if Emmerdale can get it this high then imagine what an X Factor cover would do?

I have a feeling this could be Jonas Blue's floppiest single yet, which is a shame as it is better than 'Mama' imo.

I would say Deeper is likely to get Radio 1 playlisted eventually (with R1 faves MNEK and Riton on board) which will boost it a lot hopefully.

The Jonas Blue song isn't as instant as say 'Mama'... Although it is top of the New Music Playlist so may debut quite well streaming wise.

... Yeah hopefully Deeper picks up; just listened to it on Spotify on the off chance as I like MNEK and really like it biggrin.gif

“Revenge” is doing well for an album track. The power of Eminem. She should make that the second single from BT

I'm pretty sure she's already announced it as the second single, which is probably why it's doing well

Kweenmilya beating flops like P!nk, Eminem and X-Factor winners. When will anyone's faves?

Also, P!nk ("What About Us") is coming for "Rockstar" at #3 - Camila possibly getting another shot at #1 next week? "Revenge" up to #34.

Jessie J has re-entered at #56 with "Not My Ex" following the video release.

Pink is back up to no 2 though it fell to no 20 in the singles chart yesterday. They really screwed up by deleting the single version, though I imagine it will rise substantially this week.

The drop was due to ACR though and nothing to do with deleting the single version

At #2 iTunes & #12 Spotify (climbed on both) I'll be very surprised if What About Us isn't top 10 next week smile.gif

On Spotify she was streamed around 1,300,000 times in the last 7 days. With ACR her streaming sales would be reduced from 8.6k to 4.3k so only around 4000 sales lost. I think her digital sales will prop her up into the top 10 if they continue through the week.

Sales as so poor that the reduction in Spotify has such a big effect overall. Yes her diigotsl sales have grown a lot, but like the reason she never went Number 1 officially is because of streaming

your calculations are way off, she would have done 15k from streams, so she lost 7-8k for sure with acr

Do you think P!nk will manage to get off ACR next week? "What About Us" is likely to get a big increase in its overall total sales (streaming+sales) this week. And if a song comes off ACR, does it stay off for another 10 weeks?

I've heard it on Heart FM twice already (in the ~1 and a half hours I was listening to Heart in each of the last 2 days).

It is too early to write it off entirely but it's a shockingly slow start really. I think this is really the wrong kind of song for him, as much as everyone would moan I think going down the Ed Sheeran ballad type path with him would have made more sense.

Matt Terry on course to miss the top 100 is embarrassing...... I really like him and feel bad for him.... they really need to stop taking so long to release music from the winners. Maybe it will climb with a live shows performance, I can see him being dropped pretty quickly!

It’s funny...they’ve done this ever since Leona’s Bleeding Love in 2007 with only the odd exception. Fair enough if an act has clear superstar potential like Little Mix, Leona and even Alexandra then taking the time to make sure they are launched as a big deal is understandable. A marketable act like that is bound to do well with a killer debut single.

But most winners are forgotten about by March and the hype has all but vanished with no chance of it ever returning so this business model needs to be used sparingly on a case by case basis, not almost every time. I’d say for semi-popular winners with little originality or chance of superstardom, an April/May single release at the latest should be looked at, poor Matt has suffered with the long delay, just as Leon Jackson and Matt Cardle did.

Indeed, I meant to mention that. They were an exception to the rule though I think an October release and X Factor performance strategy would have worked just as well for them.

Even August (which I think is when Wings was released) is probably far too late for some of the blander winners, Matt should have been given the Shayne Ward treatment of an April first proper single I think, especially as his winning track was a Xmas song which had an even more limited shelf life than usual.

Except it probably wouldn't have - Capital only supported it because of Matt being managed by Global ie. the company that owns Capital, and Radio 1 didn't bother with it so I don't think it would've been a hit at all without Matt (even if his actual contribution was minor)

Posted by: Liаm 17th October 2017, 12:36 PM

I think a year should be the album, so they get 2 singles out to establish themselves before it. I suppose it's different now though, the likes of Anne-Marie who've had a few hits have still yet to release an album and Dua Lipa took ages for example, it takes longer for labels to be sure that they can release the album to success. But ether way it's never going to really work waiting nearly a year to release the next single, people don't care at that point. It wouldn't hurt to have a proper original for the winner's single, something that fits each artist, to get them going straight away. I mean they probably will if Grace wins this series as she'll have originals ready to go.

I think that’s the problem it worked with Leona so they thought it would work every year after and tbh it did give all a minor hit second single until sam bailey (who coincidentally rushed released an album that got number1) but they need to update the strategy, Louisa hasn’t even released an album yet ohmy.gif cool.gif

Strangely, I think Shayne Ward (who won pre-Leona) would have benefitted from waiting until the live shows! His second single (and second era singles) did reasonably well, I think we could have had the first Leona if they’d have waited. The potential was certainly there, I’m sure he was touted as the British JT at the time!

This has got quite a lot higher than Punjabi songs usually get on iTunes (it's quite common for new releases by some Punjabi artists to go top 100 briefly), wonder if it may have something to do with it being Diwali?

Having a listen to the song out of interest and it's really good. Hope it can somehow catch on beyond these first day buys. I'm sure it probably won't though. x

My Punjabi friend informs me that Diljit Dosanjh is one of the 'biggest artists in India, up there with Yo Yo Honey Singh & Arjit Singh', and this new track was apparently much anticipated. Lmao.

Taylor coming for her next iTunes #1 tomorrow hopefully *.*

Clean Bandit have a new song out next week so let’s hope they can knock him off officially

Waaait someone fill me in - is it the next official single? If so then it'll surely be a contender for #1 next week?? ohmy.gif

Yes it is an official single. It’s called “I Miss You” and it features Julia Michaels. It’s released on the 27th so it will chart on 3rd November

I think he means Taylor Swift...

Posted by: Liаm 19th October 2017, 04:54 PM

She announced it on Instagram like she did with LWYMMD, so I assume so. She didn't announce Ready For It iirc it was just a clip on some football thing then it came out.

Hopefully this Taylor tune is massive as she hasn't grabbed my attention this era.

Oh I see. The Taylor Swift song I assume is just an album track so I doubt she’ll knock Post Malone off

Posted by: cqmerqn 19th October 2017, 06:26 PM

It is a single.

Posted by: jessie j 19th October 2017, 06:28 PM

In that case, looks like we will have a new #1 come next Friday.

Posted by: Lomadz 19th October 2017, 06:36 PM

One to watch out for in future weeks in Rita Ora's new song. Simply stunning and after 2 listens on of my favourite tracks of they year already.

Hope the new Taylor can go number 1 officially however it doesn’t have the hype of first new single in years (non soundtrack) but if she releases that video if it’s the one she film could be more likely too

I think Taylor is more likely to challenge #1 after her X-Factor performance

arrow up.gif 08. Marshmello - Silence
arrow up.gif 25. Anne-Marie - Heavy
arrow up.gif 29. Niall Horan - Too Much To Ask
arrow up.gif 33. Matt Terry - Sucker For You
arrow up.gif 40. Jessie Ware - Alone

Have NO idea why Marshmello is doing so well, it’s so generic and sounds dated af. Anne-Marie starting to take off and Matt Terry appears to be recovering well due to good airplay. Would guess that Alone could become an official top 40 hit for Jessie Ware. Wouldn’t be surprised.

Posted by: HissingSparkler 19th October 2017, 09:22 PM

Marshmello's new one You and Me is better imo, sounds much less generic in instrumentation with a bit of eurodance reminiscence in parts but won't be a hit probably!

Although the vocal in 'Silence' by Khalid is stunning imo!

Yesss at Marshmello doing so well wub.gif Coming for that top 10 officially hopefully!

Posted by: Envoirment 19th October 2017, 09:37 PM

Great to see Anne-Marie's "Heavy" rising. Likely a combo of the music video being released and BBC Radio 1 A-listing.

#26. Jason Derulo - If I'm Lucky

Surprised this is so high, although not complaining as it's grown on me a lot! Thought it dropped like a rock after its first week.

10k seems more accurate based off her previous albums!
