BuzzJack Music Forum _ Pop _ Ella Henderson & Tom Grennan - Let's Go Home Together

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 11th February 2021, 06:45 PM

Announcement at 10am tomorrow! It's not on Tom's album out next month, so I assume it's a track with Ella as the lead

Posted by: benj 11th February 2021, 07:41 PM

I can't imagine at all how this will sound but I'm excited to hear it

Posted by: darrens94 11th February 2021, 08:17 PM

I have a feeling this might be ‘Let’s Go Home Together’ that duet she did with James Arthur on his tour that didn’t get released. Tom’s maybe on the track now instead of James for some reason. The whole meeting in a pub thing makes me think that’s what this could be.

Posted by: ManicKangaroo 12th February 2021, 12:58 PM

It is indeed Let's Go Home Together. Out next Friday

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 12th February 2021, 01:13 PM

Looking forward to it!

Posted by: Bjork 12th February 2021, 01:26 PM

What a bizarre choice, the song is ancient, Im sure I have the mp3 somewhere on my laptop from the time it liked like 5 years ago or something
But I rather Ella go the pop route than the dance route, which I feel is not her at all

Posted by: Marty 12th February 2021, 01:42 PM

The song has always had quite a lot of fan support so I guess they thought they’d give it a run.
Tom rather than James Arthur? Dunno if that helps it or not. I guess not as James is a bigger artist and his fans were already primed for him on this song.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 12th February 2021, 01:45 PM

James & Ella were both on Syco at the time weren't they? So it could be that - I'd much rather Tom anyway though

Posted by: Marty 12th February 2021, 01:46 PM

Here’s the Ella, James Arthur version if anyone is interested...

Posted by: ManicKangaroo 13th February 2021, 02:11 AM

Performing on Graham Norton Show next Friday (19th)

Posted by: JackTheeStallion 13th February 2021, 01:28 PM

I was kind of happy with her going down the dance route tbh sad.gif

Performing on Graham Norton Show next Friday (19th)

That’s a good gig to kick this off.
It’s a sweet song, hope it’s not overproduced.
Could do pretty well I reckon.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 13th February 2021, 02:46 PM

I really like the song and GN is great promo for it.

Posted by: JulianNial 19th February 2021, 12:36 AM

I like this. My only dislike is those stereotypical vocal stylistic choices that Tom makes. But other than that it's nice.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 19th February 2021, 12:49 AM

I'd be disappointed if this was a Tom single tbh, but for what it's worth it's decent enough! Hopefully it's a grower

Posted by: Marty 19th February 2021, 05:39 AM

I like this a lot!
A ‘proper’ duet with 2 great voices.
It’s gonna do really well!!

Posted by: Liam.k. 19th February 2021, 08:17 AM

I went into this thinking it would be an upbeat number, disappointing really. sad.gif

Posted by: Klumzee Iman 19th February 2021, 08:37 AM

Sounds a bit like it's from the Ed Sheeran school of writing. It's fine and their voices sound good together but I'm not sure it's for me.

Posted by: Bjork 19th February 2021, 08:50 AM

oh I do like it

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 19th February 2021, 09:30 AM

Interestingly, James Arthur has a writing credit - I wonder if he's not on it because he's releasing his own lead single soon?

Posted by: Bjork 19th February 2021, 10:21 AM

well all this time we've known James Arthur was a co-writer and they performed live together
so releasing them together was like the logical expectation

sure it's a label shenanigan if he's not on it but Tom Brennan is there instead

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 19th February 2021, 10:36 AM

Perhaps James wanted more money to feature on it, as Ella's on Rudimental's label now rather than Syco

Posted by: Marty 19th February 2021, 11:38 AM

I suspect Ella’s team have wanted to release this for some time, but James/his label didn’t fancy it.
I actually prefer Tom here, James slurring style is beginning to grate on me tbh

Interesting what bounce they get from Graham Norton and then Sunday Brunch...
(It obviously suits an acoustic treatment more than her recent dance tracks).

Posted by: Marty 19th February 2021, 12:47 PM

Posted by: CJK 19th February 2021, 12:58 PM

I like Ella Henderson and think she deserves a lot more success than she has been getting. I also love Little Bit of Love by Tom Grennan... so I was up for this duet.

I think Ella sounds a bit like Anne-Marie in her bits, which I really doubt would be considered a compliment.

It's okay and all well and good... but it's nothing we haven't heard a few thousand times before so I don't think I'll be going back for more in a hurry.

Posted by: steve201 19th February 2021, 01:32 PM

itunes number 1 now biggrin.gif

Dream On Me was a million times better than this and deserved to be huge sad.gif

Posted by: Marty 20th February 2021, 06:49 AM

Smashed that Graham Norton performance!
The song brings out both of their voices really well.
No. 1 iTunes, doing pretty well on AM and Spotify. Looking good !

The sample wasn’t strong, clear enough imho...

This is just a sweet little catchy song, that has some nice vocal qualities - often they do the business’

Posted by: Marty 20th February 2021, 07:06 AM

Graham Norton performance and interview.

Posted by: Marty 20th February 2021, 09:41 PM

Well over 50% lead as iTunes #1, so it’s going to sit there for a few days.
As of yesterday #48 AM and #194 Spotify, hopefully that should improve a lot the next few days.
Any thoughts where this might chart next week? Top 100? Top 40 no chance??

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 21st February 2021, 03:16 AM

I'm hoping at the least top 75.

This!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 21st February 2021, 06:06 PM

At #17 in today's update - it could become Tom's first top 40 and Ella's first as a lead artist since 'Yours' in 2014!

Posted by: Rooney 21st February 2021, 07:23 PM

Got to admit, I really do like this. Glad it looks like it's doing well so far. Always baffles me when some songs just take off and others float like a stone.

Posted by: Marty 21st February 2021, 07:28 PM

And #2 today on Big Top 40...
Spotify is usually Ella's downfall. And again it isn’t looking great atm.
I do think this song will push through though it seems to have a lot of momentum.
Right song at the right time and 2 really good vocalists.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 22nd February 2021, 12:13 AM

I think the song will build in the coming g weeks and hopefully it can stay top 40 this week.

Posted by: Bjork 22nd February 2021, 07:38 AM

When I watched the Graham Norton performance I certainly got Fairytale of New York vibes,
which Graham Norton also picked up

Posted by: dannjohn 22nd February 2021, 11:16 AM

i wonder how this will place her as it's looking to be her biggest solo hit since... like... 'yours' but she's signed to a dance label.

i'd love her to have some a really dance-pop solo song. 'dream on me' didn't quite grab me.

In fairness I'm looking at the artists signed to Rudimental's label Major Tom's, and none of them could really be classed as dance!

It’s not really a solo hit as it’s & Tom Grennan, but sure she’ll get a well deserved credit if it indeed charts!
Seperate discussion as to whether she should be credited re This Is Real where she was an ‘&’ at it charted #9 last year...

Posted by: RobBot MBE 23rd February 2021, 02:08 PM

I definitely prefer both of last years efforts but I'm super glad to see Ella getting success any which way she can! So pleased for her, the song is cute, not sure if it's something I'd go back to lots, but I like it.

I second this. I like the song but I don't like it nearly as much as either of 'Take Care of You' or 'Dream on Me'.

Very happy to see Ella getting chart success though. wub.gif

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 23rd February 2021, 09:15 PM

Its really good she is having success and her name has kept fairly active the last year or so which is good, hard to know what sound she will go with on her 2nd album if it ever happens.

Posted by: Marty 24th February 2021, 07:08 PM

So #26 in the chart today. I think we can assume this will chart top 40 this week!
Ella still seems to have major problems getting traction on Spotify. Dunno what this issue is.
All the other numbers seem very good.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 24th February 2021, 08:32 PM

Ya she is doing good everywhere but spotify which counts for the most, id love if it can stay top 30 but even for it go top 40 its great and hopefully it will climb in the week ahead.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 24th February 2021, 08:34 PM

Unlike her usual, Spotify have added this to the all important Hot Hits though so who knows?

It’s only about track 50 on Hot Hits so that’s not great. But at least it’s on there ...
See what radio playlists it makes later this week.
I think it has a lot of potential it should be a decent sized hit.
I guess the main potential negative to some stations is the ‘cheeky’ lyric..

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 24th February 2021, 09:07 PM

It's only just been added though, they could well move it up if it grows.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 24th February 2021, 09:55 PM

Hopefully it can grow and i have a good feeling it will.

Posted by: Bjork 24th February 2021, 10:00 PM

but it's already a very good start
especially if you consider than Dream of Me didn't even make the top 100 :/

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 24th February 2021, 11:09 PM

It's a brill start.

Music video out, it’s cute!

Posted by: Marty 25th February 2021, 06:56 PM

Really nice video which goes great with the song!
Full credit to Tom Grennan btw he does a great job in adding vocal interest and colour to this song.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 26th February 2021, 12:40 AM

I can see this ending up around 34 tomorrow which is still a very good start,

Posted by: Marty 26th February 2021, 08:54 AM

I think it might make #30.
Finally made Spotify top 200 at #192.

Let’s see what playlists it makes today...

Posted by: Bjork 26th February 2021, 09:02 AM

it had already made the top 200 on Spotify on day 1

Posted by: JosephStyles 26th February 2021, 01:38 PM

This is a brilliant track! I already prefer it to both Take Care of You (which was a grower but I do very much like) and Dream On Me (which I never cared too much for). Tom is a great fit on the track and far preferable to James Arthur.

Posted by: Marty 26th February 2021, 03:04 PM

I much prefer Tom he does a great job on this track, a really interesting voice. Can’t be doing with James Arthur’s slurring moody drawl. And his fans seem to be getting increasingly unpleasant. Tom has put up with quite a lot of nastiness with class.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 26th February 2021, 03:10 PM

James Arthur's fans on twitter have been quite odd for years :/ especially when Foals beat him a few years ago to #1 tongue.gif

Posted by: Liam.k. 26th February 2021, 11:38 PM

I immediately brushed this one off on first listen but it's actually a really sweet song. Their voices work really well together too.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 27th February 2021, 12:04 AM

D et lighted its managed top 30 officially.

Posted by: Marty 28th February 2021, 07:28 PM

No.1 on the Big Top 40 today!
Hopefully that might get it some more plays on Capital etc
I’ve not actually heard it on there yet but I have heard Tiesto The Business at least 100 times, or it feels like it...

I’ve heard it on capital once but it was a remix! More upbeat sounding

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 1st March 2021, 09:52 PM

31 in today's mids so hopefully it will be staying top 40 for a second week.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 1st March 2021, 10:12 PM

I think at this point it'll stabilise and start climbing, it's showing signs of being a big hit already.

Posted by: Bjork 2nd March 2021, 07:30 AM

The problem as per usual is the lack of Spotify support, it's on HH but at the bottom
also it was not doing well on Amazon, #500-ish last time someone posted
at least Apple is fully supporting it, #13 now, but Apple support is very volatile,
songs get full support one week, zero support the next week, and they disappear from Apple...

good thing also is in a couple weeks time, Tom's album drops so the song should benefit from that and get an album drop effect

Posted by: Marty 2nd March 2021, 08:12 AM

I think it’s strangely not had that much radio play either, certainly not on BBC Radio 1 or 2. See it makes their playlists this week.
There seems to be a lot of love for the song out there but some of the corporates seem not to have embraced it.
Maybe either because of the play on ‘fcuk’ or the fact Tom has another successful song out and they dont want to playlist him twice.

Posted by: JosephStyles 2nd March 2021, 09:28 AM

It's probably because Ella's last couple of singles haven't set the charts alight and as a result they weren't desperate to playlist this one immediately. I'm sure it'll get full radio support before long, it's showing signs of being a big hit and it's clearly popular.

As for the not-swearing lyrics, I played it in the car to my mum the other day and she's not huge on swearing in songs, but she laughed at those lyrics. I don't think they'll be any issue at all, they've played worse and there's no actual bad language on this for there to be a problem.

Yeah it made me chuckle too. It's one of those things that only someone mature enough would understand, I don't think children are going to pick up on it.

I've just given 'Dream On Me' a listen after seeing it mentioned a few times in the forum - the chorus has a similar vibe to 'Rain On Me'!

Big Top 40 #1 for a 2nd week, Radio 2 Record of The Week, and into the top 100 on Spotify.
This still has some legs!

Posted by: pippa 8th March 2021, 01:53 PM

Streams dropped significantly in the latest update so a recovery is needed as the week progresses.

That’s literally all Capital is now, didnt realise it had reached Radio 2 as well. Probably trying to be hip.

Posted by: steve201 8th March 2021, 06:00 PM

They sometimes do it on a Friday afternoon when trying to build for the weekend but it startled me as it never usually happens.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 8th March 2021, 07:28 PM

Good to see thats its still top 40 in the mids.

#60 Spotify
#8 Apple Music
#7 and #87 iTunes

It’s predicted #8 on official chart this week, probably will end up at #12 or so...

Id love if it can go top 10 but even as it is its done well and im sure ella will be very happy with the ouctome, i have a feeling the annoying number 11 is imminent this week though.

I was half disappointed with 13 as I was sure it would be number 11 but it's great it's still climbing and hopefully top 10 in the next week or 2. New peak in ireland aswell this week of number 27.

Bew peak of number 23 here in Ireland this week.

Posted by: pippa 10th April 2021, 10:47 AM

The Madism remix is pretty good, it gives the song a bit more of a kick

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 16th April 2021, 02:07 PM

Really like that remix, new peak this week in Ireland of number 20.

Posted by: Marty 16th April 2021, 03:02 PM

Will it just make UK #10 this week?
It might just slip out... fingers crossed.

Posted by: pippa 16th April 2021, 09:28 PM

It edges closer each week and maybe this week it will arrive at the Top 10.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 17th April 2021, 01:33 PM

Up to 3 on iTunes, its highest for a while.

I wonder if James is mad he gave up his part now it has become a hit while Medicine has failed to chart yet

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 17th April 2021, 02:58 PM

I guess there's a possibility that Tom's name has allowed it to be playlisted more - as Little Bit of Love is also getting much more support than Medicine has

Does anyone have the total sales so far please?

Ya it should be silver this week as I think up to last week its close to 190k.

2 weeks of decline. Looks like ACR is going to hit soon. It’s had a good run.

Wonder if we’ll get a new single or album/EP announcement soon.

Posted by: Bré 4th June 2021, 11:59 PM

It's subjective obviously but I'd say that these days anything that makes the top 10 and sticks around in the top 40 at least until hitting ACR is worthy of being called a 'big hit'. It's a lot harder to make the top 10 than it used to be.

Posted by: PAJ 5th June 2021, 12:52 AM

Thanks, true. Also without starting an artists war it might also be dependent on the artist in question.

All round this is a resounding success though. So glad to have Ella back.

I think for Ella this is a big hit and has plenty of life left in it yet.

I hope you’re right. It looks like it’s holding up well despite being on ACR. I’m disappointed it didn’t really do anything in Australia. I thought it might’ve done well, at least top 50.

Of course success anywhere is great but I think she needs to focus on the UK market and get a good run again, hopefully she can follow this up with another hit.

I agree, hopefully she’s got something lined up for late June or July.
