Right then so now the wait is over and at the runner up spot is "Stole", which means "Work" is the winner, but that will be in the next post, so now let's talk about "Stole". Written and co-produced by Dane Deviller and Steve Kipner and lyrically talks about chronicle three different scenarios with young people, whose lives are drastically changed by the aftermaths of a suicide and a school shooting. Released in Australia and USA in October 2002 and Elsewhere in January 2003 as Kelly's first official solo single and lead single taken from her first album "Simply Deep". Despite the rush release by the record company of the album (which was recorded in just 3 weeks) and this was picked by Sony Music's song pool, the song became a massive success. In the USA it was released after "Dilemma" was slipping down the charts, and debuted at #76, then 9 weeks later climbed to #27, not quite the success as hoped but elsewhere it was much better received and showed that her solo career success lies internationally. Worldwide it's still to date one of her most successful singles just behind Dilemma, Work and When Love Takes Over. In the UK it peaked at #2 and sold 210,000 copies and earned a Silver disc, her 5th highest seller over. In Australia it matched the peak at #2 and also hit top 3 in Ireland and New Zealand. In other countries it hit top 10 in Norway, Denmark, Swiss and Netherlands. Top 20 in Finland, Italy, Sweden, Germany and Belgium.

01. Work= Avg:9.964

Highest Rates: (11) Nick F1, Niall Minogue, xx Chris, Simon, x ketalina x (10) Davidson, Liam, JosephStyles, Kellyann, MIKEMYER

Lowest Rates: (8) Mr Aly, Cremey

So there you have it Buzzjack your #1 Kelly Rowland song is none other than "Work" with 5 11's and 5 10's and no rate lower than a 8, making this the clear winner from the start. Originally intended to be the lead single from her 2nd album "Ms Kelly", but when it leaked early it had negative feedback and "Like This" was chosen instead. A re-think was in order, so Freemasons was called in to remix it and give it new life and released as the 2nd single internationally in January 2008. In the USA "Ghetto" was released and bombed, so therefore never given a proper release. In the UK "Work" became a massive success by reaching #4 and spent 6 weeks in the top 10, selling over 250,000 copies. Elsewhere it hit top 5/10 in Turkey, Finland, France, Australia, Greece, Italy, Swiss and New Zealand. Top 20 in Ireland, Slovakia, Netherlands and Norway, then top 40 in Germany, Hungary, Austria and Belgium. This also caused a boost in sales for her 2nd album "Ms Kelly" and eventually led to a re-release and following the underperformance of previous singles "Like This" and "Ghetto", this song saved the era and became one of her most successful hits ever.

I wouldn't say 'Work' is her best, but it's still really good (strictly the Freemasons version only, the original is unlistenable).

'Stole' is very overrated, 'Commander' is a great song but it did get very overplayed and it hasn't quite been the same since for me. sad.gif
