Good to see Liar finally overtake Shameless, I was surprised it was the other way around until now. Hope at least one of them becomes a big hit for her!

Posted by: Bjork Sep 6 2019, 10:34 AM

bit confusing as Liar seems to be the one pushed on Spotify but Shameless has the super big budget video

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Sep 6 2019, 10:45 AM

Are these Camila tracks from a new era for her? They seem to have appeared totally out of the blue.

Posted by: Bjork Sep 6 2019, 10:53 AM

yes it's the start of her 2nd album/era.... new Camila album is called Romance

New Professor Green seems to be doing well, at least on day one. I doubt he'll ever get a hit again though - if he couldn't do it by featuring Rag'n'Bone Man, then I can't see it happening with anything else.

Posted by: Nick Jonas Sep 6 2019, 01:24 PM

What’s caused the boost for ‘Always Remember Us This Way’ it’s up to #57 and 1 place behind ‘Shallow’.

Also, both Katy Perry tracks out of the Top 100 ohmy.gif

This. It was an average song. It was OKAY. That's it. Small Talk was just forgettable.

Posted by: Bjork Sep 6 2019, 02:07 PM

just hear Liar, what a mish-mash of styles and songs, the verses sound like Shakira
and in the chorus there are samples of Ace of Base and All Night Long

not too keen on the song on 1st listen... but better than the other one, not sure what they've done to her voice in the studio or if she sings like that naturally, but it's almost unlistenable

I think this is the 3rd or 4th time Professor Green has had a song get high up on iTunes on its first day recently, it never comes to anything. He must just have a weirdly committed fanbase downloading his songs.

Shame Sierra Kusterbeck never got another hit after featuring in Professor Green's Avalon, I really liked her vocal in that song.

His new song has a sort of deep house inspired sound to it, wasn't expecting that. Sounds quite good though, and a bit 2014 too as Alice Chater's voice sounds rather like Kiesza.

NRO was a very big hit over here. Disappointing peak, but it feels and generally seems bigger than the peak suggests.

Posted by: Jack Sep 7 2019, 12:04 AM

The fact we can't even get to a Top 40 for best selling female hits is kind of depressing.

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 7 2019, 12:10 AM

Hopefully the rumours of Gaga, Adele & Rihanna releasing during Q4 will boost numbers a little. I think Little Mix have one more single scheduled for release at some point.

Joe has shared that list with me a few times and I never noticed it wasn't even a top 40! cry.gif That really is depressing.

Posted by: Esmerelda Sep 7 2019, 12:32 AM

You would think that over time it would be easier for female singers to score a hit but it actually seems to be getting harder.

just read that Camila's video for Liar is also coming out soon... so not sure what's the single, think they don't even know themselves...

on the Katy Perry topic, Never Really Over did amazing and it sure would have been top 10 if Spotify hadn't limited its success, she got support but not huge support and thats what costed her the top 10...

Posted by: 365 Sep 7 2019, 08:05 AM

Yeah, if it had the same Spotify support as Mad Love and a discount in the Uk it would have probably peaked a few places higher.

Never Really Over is still top 75 on Spotify despite being off Hot Hits for two weeks now. It's closing in on 200 million streams on Spotify, I think it proves that Katy can still get decent sized hits so long as the song is right.

Posted by: Bjork Sep 7 2019, 09:34 AM

Id say it could have even challenged for @1

One week. It climbed to #9 on Spotify and the day after they moved it way down.

#12 is nothing to turn our noses up at? It's outsold songs like 'You Need to Calm Down,' and 'Bounce Back' that kept it out of the top 10 at the time.

Wouldn't be surprised if Posty quickly swaps to pushing 'Take What You Want' as it seems to have potential to be a bigger hit than 'Circles' (it's holding up far better than the other album tracks despite being halfway through the album, has even risen to #2 on US Spotify). Ozzy coming for that hit.

It's not a single though, it's just a grat, none of the rest are top 1,500 either. Gone is still the current single. It's basically just an extended outtro to the album.

Yep! That was back in 2006 when downloads actually knocked it down a few positions in the same way streaming probably would've done when that was first introduced. Crazy to think, isn't it?
