What comes to mind when I think of this album is atmosphere, sophistication and impressive vocals. A finely produced album and one that I'm having difficultly ranking - I'd listen to the first two singles and 'Time Will Pass You By' on their own but otherwise it's an album best appreciated as a whole.
I'd say the downfall of the album would be a lack of, or at least a mismatched, personality. I think there was a lot of focus on making an album so removed from the PWL Kylie in terms of sound and style and Kylie's public image, but in the process they lost some of her character and charm. There's obviously some exceptions - I'd say the three songs I mentioned earlier are songs with the most personality - but it's evident in other songs and I think that makes it hard to believe in what Kylie's singing about, as impressive as they may be sonically. Was the original post released from BMG promoting the anniversary? If you mean the Spotify playlist, that was already uploaded previously. It's the 2003 special edition bonus disc. |

In hindsight it was a hard album to market, as it was a big change from Kylie and it does have a mismatched personality.
Such a change does take time for people to adjust to and also warm to and the main problem was people did not take to the changes overwhelmingly. |

The recording sessions for this album can be split between pre and post working with Brothers in Rhythm. Kylie and the record company were unhappy with the initial material for the album so scrapped it all but one song ('Automatic Love'). Brothers in Rhythm, who had remixed 'Finer Feelings' for its single release, got in contact and together 'Confide in Me' was created, which was obviously a resounding success so the creative sessions continued.
I've listed all the songs I know to have been recorded and categorised them by producer: KM94 1993 sessions Saint Etienne Nothing Can Stop Us When Are You Coming Home? The Rapino Brothers Aston Martin Automatic Love Difficult By Design For All I'm Worth Gotta Move On Light That I Was Looking For Living For Your Love Love is on the Line KM94 1994 sessions Brothers in Rhythm At the End of the Day Automatic Love (re-produced) Confide in Me Dangerous Game If You Don't Love Me Love is on the Line (re-produced) Love is Waiting Love is Waiting (re-produced) Where is the Feeling Gerry DeVeaux No Turning Back Surrender Jimmy Harry If I Was Your Lover If I Was Your Lover (re-produced) Intuition Put Yourself in My Place The World Needs Love M People Time Will Pass You By Pete Heller & Terry Farley Falling (reproduced) Where Has the Love Gone? Pet Shop Boys wrote 'Falling' and they sent in their own demo, which is very different to the final version: |

In hindsight it was a hard album to market, as it was a big change from Kylie and it does have a mismatched personality. Such a change does take time for people to adjust to and also warm to and the main problem was people did not take to the changes overwhelmingly. I think there was a sense of Kylie having to build up her fanbase from scratch, given this was such a departure from the sound her PWL fans enjoyed and was a step into the 'credible' music world which some people may have had issue adjusting to, as if Kylie was already tarnished with the 'bubblegum pop' brush and wasn't welcome into the 'accepted' music world. Obviously the filming for Bio-Dome really affected the album campaign too. I think the album did really well to secure a Gold certification all things considered - perhaps it would have been closer to 200k if the campaign wasn't interrupted? |

There was a level of Kylie having to build a new fan base on this release which is a very good point.
Not many of her fans pre KM94 crossed over with her at that time. I would find it interesting to know if the fans she gained on her Light Years return were mainly former fans or just a whole new set of fans in general. |

Can remember buying this on cassette wow 25 years.
Dangerous Game was always the best track by far for me. Confide In Me has such an electrifying instrumental though I can see why they chose it as the first single. |

The cover is extremely slick and captivating.
It is one of her best album covers that oozes sophistication. |

Very sophisticated I agree and that image worked very well for her.

I love the cover too! The suit symbolises her growth and maturity but there's still a sexual and playful side to her. It's a striking pose too, emphasised by the black and white and just her and the title.

Just listened to this for the first time . It really wasn’t what I was expecting!! Way more poppier than I thought it would be .
Preferred impossible princess. The middle of this album is bland and forgettable. I preferred the acoustic version on WITF Falling stood out. The songs on this album are very long. |

I love that you are only just listening to Kylie classics now Vibe!
KM94 is a decent album but a bit over the place, Impossible Princess is my favourite Kylie album - perfection IMO. |
