I have been following this forum but never posted before.
Kylie's singles have struggled with chart positions since all the lovers and streaming seems to be limiting her chart positions. Not to mention ageism on some radio stations!

So thought I'd pose a question....what do you think her chart positions and chart runs would be for her singles since then if they followed the pattern of her earlier work and charts based on sales alone?

I'd be particularly interested in how everyone thinks the golden singles would have been had it been based on older chart rules.

I think they would have performed as the sales only chart that OCC still publish indicated.... Dancing Top 20, SMFF Top 40, MTSWY Top 20 etc.,

Well they would have performed better than that as she would have released physicals too to boost her download songs

This is how Kylie has performed on the sales-only chart since the inclusion of streaming in the official charts:

Right Here, Right Now (with Giorgio Moroder)
NE: 74-79 (first entry: 07/02/15) 2w

Black & White (featuring Shaggy) (Including Kylie + Garibay EP)
NE: 66 (first entry: 24/09/15) 1w

Only You (featuring James Cordon)
NE: 59 (first entry: 17/12/15) 1w
RE: 86 (second entry: 31/12/15) 1w
Total: 2w

Dancing
NE: 15-55-37-57-62-11-21-29-52-37-52-13-23-46-62-81 (first entry: 01/02/18) 16w
RE: 63 (second entry: 04/10/18) 1w
Total: 17w

Stop Me From Falling
NE: 43 (first entry: 22/03/18) 1w
RE: 83-82-21-36-16-37-46-95-75 (second entry: 05/04/18) 9w
Total: 10w

Raining Glitter
NE: 80 (first entry: 12/04/18) 1w

What You Waiting For? (with Sigala)
NE: 33 (first entry: 11/10/18) 1w

Music's Too Sad Without You (with Jack Savoretti)
NE: 54-68-17 (first entry: 22/11/18) 3w

As SmileyKylie pointed out though, the typical physical release isn't in practice anymore, even for Kylie as of late, which would have an effect on things. There's also a case of who actually knows how similar the official chart would look to the sales-only chart if streaming didn't exist.

From this perspective Music's Too Sad Without You did exceptionally well as the 5th release when you view how the singles ahead of performed on the sales chart.

Looking this thread, if only sales chart was the real chart and musics to sad without you would have been a top 20 and Dancing an almost top 10. These 2 songs in particular from Golden deserved far higher peaks than they got but thank god dancing has built up some really nice sales.

BMG need to learn from ‘Dancing’ - they gave us a physical and we gave them a #11 sales hit and an overall Top 40. Give us physicals and we’ll provide the hits sleep.gif

They do need to take advantage of the fans love and want for physical releases, i really think its something they should invest in for the lead single if none of the other singles. I would love a cd single and vinyl for all the singles released and i would buy both on release week. Attacking the releases this way along with some downloads and the few streams would be enough to get Kylie a few more top 75 hits. The lead singles always get the most promo and hype so having both physicals released on release week with promotion and downloads and streams might get Kylie another top 40 hit. I know its us the fans that are of pocket but we do like our physicals i would go as far to release a cassette single for the lead single aswell. Maybe im delusional but a 3 format physical mixed with everything else would surely get Kylie another top 40 hit do you think? If musics too sad without you had a physical it would have got into the charts, for a 5th single of a succesful album it done better than the singles before it. A physical for stop me from falling i think may have got it top 40 aswell.

So many artists are doing physical singles now - The Weeknd done CD, Cassette and 7’ vinyl for ‘Blinding Lights’, Lewis Capaldi done 3 CD singles for £1 for his last release - I think it’s something we’ll start to see more of hopefully now from Kylie, she could easily shift 10k from a 3 format bundle.
