Hoping for 6ix9ine to be as low as possible today x

Hoping for Dua to rack up another week at #1 on the albums even if it does mean beating the record of lowest sales
Hoping 6ix9ine misses top 5, it seems inevitable that he’ll make top 10 now :/

Perhaps the Big Top 40 can change their misleading slogan now!

There’s no way they will stand for that! They’ll do everything they can to get it back.

The big top 40’s whole USP is being the biggest chart show 😂

can't see how Radio 1's chart would have more listeners as surely Capital and Heart always have more combined listeners than R1? but yay if it is true!

Wait there was a period when this chart wasn't the biggest on the radio? That in itself is embarrassing...

I feel like Rockstar is the most out of the blue #1 we've had since... Roses lol. This year's been pretty surprising for chart toppers. Wouldn't have expected Eminem to still be big enough for a #1 in 2020, 2 charity singles proving iTunes still isn't dead. Now another shock #1.

maybe lockdown has given Radio 1 (and other BBC stations) more of a boost - as I suspect more people choose to actively listen to BBC than they would Capital/Heart which are more 'background music' stations.
would be interesting if they gave us the figures.

The Official Big Top 40's been the most listened to chart on the radio for as long as I can remember IIRC, because they put it on two big stations (Capital/Heart).

That has been the case for as long as I can remember! The Big Top 40 used to broadcast on almost every commercial hit music station until last year iirc when it was reduced to just Capital and Heart.

I think the extra publicity of the official chart when Captain Tom grabbed #1 will help in the next quarter too, I saw the clip of Scott Mills revealing it to him on the news several times!

The Official Charts Company has written an article on this now which includes some figures!

QUOTE
While BBC Radio 1 are still basking in the glow of scoring a Number 1 single of their own earlier this month, with the Live Lounge All Stars’ charity cover of Times Like These, the station are celebrating once again today as new figures confirm that The Official Chart with Scott Mills is officially the biggest chart show on radio in the UK.

The latest RAJAR figures for the first quarter of 2020 put the Official Charts Company-compiled chart show that is broadcast exclusively on BBC Radio 1, as the UK’s Number 1 chart show, reaching 1.405m listeners weekly.

Add in the Official Chart First Look preview show too (every Sunday at 6pm), and its reach extends even further to 1.588m listeners.
