FINAL RESULTS

Tonight. 7pm.

57 nations voted in total, with only Freedonia and Pagasa missing out. As neither made the final, they will not face a deduction, but will be banned from BJSC144. Scherzland and Skall both voted late and will face a 15% deduction from their scores.

Expecting around 28th for my entry this time.

In lack of any preds whatsoever I'm pulling for Terra Avium to get that long overdue victory. If Emerald Princess did it then so can this!

I wouldn't rule St. Burbia out either, they will eat the pop bloc vote up surely. I think it has to be one of those three.

It's hard to call, I have so many favourites that I'd love to see do well, some of which will going by the hype so far. But a lot of my favourites also attracted some 'this is overhyped/generic' comments on Discord, so who knows really because there are quite a few which do nothing for me that have got big hype.

Terra could do it, it will pick up lots of medal positions, but will that be enough to see off a big pop song (St Burbia/Klum/Altyr) if the pop crowd all get behind the same one? And never rule out Aeroche with the hype it's attracted so far, and D'yermak'er and New Lexico which both sound like big crossover hits.

I think you should easily achieve that this time. It sounded big to me.

Here for Terra to finally get a win or St Burbia will be accepted too out of the contenders that are hyped.

Predicting 34th for me as there's stronger pop and some will go by the wayside lol. Just happy to keep my qualification streak up tbh.

My gut is leaning towards St. Burbia winning, or maybe New Lexico. (I see these were the top 2 in Savan's odds as well so a moderately cold take, although interesting to see quite a lot of different names being thrown around as winner contenders this time)

After my song got largely eviscerated in the final listenthrough I will be happy if I'm not in like the bottom 5 x

John has told me that he has 'every faith' that my double checking of the scoreboard will be needed tonight so an advance warning to not worry about anything that doesn't quite add up, I'll ensure everything is accurate by the end of the night if there are any errors as per usual.

Aw at the slight deductions for Scherzland and Skall, I hope that doesn't cost them too significantly.

So we have every nation off zero, leaving Trifoski safe and comfortable in their solitude for at least another contest. At the top of the board we have yet another change of leader as Summericia scored nothing from the last 5 voetrs and now Land of DW have leap-frogged into first place. Kluminican Republic are keeping pace though, so too are other pop efforts from Hendina, St Burbia and hosts Altyr Muunilinst.

What's this, another new leader? Land of DW score well but lay 4 points behind new leaders Hendinia. Last time they came to Altyr they left with silver, will it be gold this time? Elsewhere, Jadakissnia have moved up quite nicely from last, with Aquafina now filling this coveted position.

Ooh a second medal position - always a nice surprise the occasional moments that we show up in the Harmonican votes, thank you muchly Jordan *.* (and being that high in them was historically usually a good sign for us although not quite as much the last time (gupi I think)).

Thank you Chez! Midweek top 20 now is certainly massively exceeding my expectations but still no idea whether to expect that to hold up or not.

I thought Hendinia should do quite well but didn't quite pin it as being a potential winner so that's an interesting leader at this stage! Surprised to see Summericia so high at the moment too.

At the top of the board, Terra Avium have stretched their lead to 28 points, this time over St Burbia with Hendinia not picking up any points this time and now in 5th. Kathaldazia have now started to creep into the upper echelons too, with Lookylion and Altyr Muunilinst inside the top 10. Never to be ruled out, Aeroche seem to be gaining some momentum too.

Our 8th update finds Terra Avium still in the lead and the first nation to cross the 200 point mark, but with their lead down to 21 points as Hendinia move back to second. Altyr Muunilinst have surged into fourth place too. Aloha, thank you to Altyr Muunilinst for the hosting, here are the final votes for BJSC 143 from Persephonia

Our 18 this month goes to a future garage (?) banger from Fljótavík, the third time we've given them our top marks following back-to-back 18s in BJSCs 106 & 107 with Jean-Michel Blais and Danger, they have also received our silver medal 4 times and bronze 5 times. A much more relaxed new age vibe from our 15 which goes to the blissful offering from Lotunia, lifting their medal tally from us to 1 gold, 2 silvers and 1 bronze. Rounding out our top 3 is our recently (belatedly) revealed #1 country of 2021 Cumulonimbia continuing to bring the bangers with a rather unexpected swerve into Spanish hyperpop, their medal tally from us now stands at 2 golds, 1 silver and 3 bronzes. Our 2nd most pointed country of last year Jadakissnia remain right on their tail picking up 12 points this month also with a hyperpop banger while our 11 goes to some hardcore punk from Utopia.

10 points go to Kathaldazia's techno banger, not quite as great as the previus X CLUB. entry but still an easy highlight, maintaining their run of receiving points from us with every one of their finalists since their comeback. 9 points go to the odyssey of an entry from FSR Rontvia which proved to be a big grower. Some excellent production nets Niceland our 8 points, and a couple of relatively unfamiliar faces round out our top 10, a rare French pop song that actually hit hard with the Persephonian audience from Scherzland lands 7 points (their first points from us since 6 to Cailin Russo in BJSC 122, and the most points we have ever given them, although they did rank higher in our votes with Sebastian Ingrosso who got 4 points under the 12 point system in BJSC 43) while a looped disco bop from our arch nemeses New Lexico gets 6 points (they last ranked higher when we gave them the full 18 for Myriam Fares in BJSC 125 and last appeared in our votes with 5 points to La Rappresentante Di Lista in BJSC 136).

Terra Avium had the best anniversary entry of the month for us and pick up 5 points for their multicultural offering, 4 points go to a chill electronic track from Danæviia, another anniversary entry from Rolloland gets 3 points for a solid discovery of a minor 80s hit, Republic of Adonia get 2 points for an inventive slice of J-Pop and our mealworm point goes to another country that we don't vote for too often, Jupiterdonia with their very Empire Of The Sun esque entry.

As we move past the 3/4 point of voting, Hendinia retake the top spot with a lead of 14 over second placed Terra Avium, whose points have dried up due to a spell of pop votes. Kathaldazia become the 3rd nation to cross 200 points, with hosts Altyr Muunilinst narrowly behind thanks to their first 18 of the night. Kluminican Republic slip out of the top 10 for the first time tonight, replaced by Republique d'Askorza. At the opposite end, Taahino seem to have settled into last place.

Omg! I would not have called that, nothing quite like the feeling of announcing your own win *.* I (barely) remember it well.

Congrats John and thanks for a slick and effortless show and for hosting a great quality final, yours wasn't far out of my votes but I didn't see that coming at all! So close for Terra, at least even if I'd given it 18 it wouldn't have won but it so deserved to. Gutted that D'yermak'er missed the top ten though. Liking and voted for the rest of the top five, so some good results.

Ha well in my head I predicted 27th for myself just before the final so I wasn't wrong there. Shame to slip so far down when it was doing well earlier but obviously it was never getting any pop support so I was reliant on everyone else liking it, and only half of its target audience probably did vote for it so to not be bottom 10 is a result!

I double and triple checked the top 3 - partly to ensure I didn't hallucinate my win. Feels so weird announcing myself as winner, especially as I had no hype at all and against such excellent competition.

Dobago last is a joke really... Seriously this last is not giving me good vibes at all... This should have been in the top 10 at least. What happened???? Taahino pre-last??? Unforgivable crimes...

Oh well 98 points in the bottom 5... At least I can be really proud of the entry as it is an amazing Ukrainian bop that does not forget its roots while featuring lots of traditional Ukrainian instruments. Glad Greenfroze gave 18 points to this entry and this means a lot to me. My commiserations that your entry got robbed in the semi. Hoping that does not dissuade people sending more regional entries to BJSC!

Otherwise the top 10 is great! Pop essences Hendinia and Kluminican Republic occupied the top 10 while Kathaldazia and Land of DW thoroughly deserve top 10 too as they stood out from the rest of the bunch nicely! Would have loved to see POPHub higher though.

Pretty good results overall, I think Botanikka and POPHub deserved a lot more than they got but glad to see most of my faves did well.

Glad to get another small hit and surprised to be the highest among the French entries! However it’s the lowest placing Shanguy entry and I got beat by my potentials and an artist I got vetoed with (at least Noa did just about as well as my WorldVision entry) so add that to the list of entries that I’ll end up regretting in the future even if I do like it so much

Night Club getting top 10 on their 3rd time sent (previous two both sent by myself) it was a great song though.

Well done Altyr. I would have preferred Terra but I'll settle for that winner as it was good as well. Brilliant to see Kath so high there and Dylan of course too. I'm pleased Niceland wasn't bottom 10 as that would have been a travesty. Dobago last? It wasn't in my semi votes but it did grow on a lot more by the final and thought it would do better than that. At least top half of bottom 10 if so. That's a shame.

I'll also take 12th too as it's another first position wise for me. Was fun seeing it top 5 and earlier on in the evening be in the lead but I'm still good with a top 15 so bittersweet.

Congrats John, I don't remember it all that well and I definitely wouldn't have called it to win, but I think it sounded like a decent alt-pop song and impressive to get a winner straight after your last one ofc.!

Yeah, it hurts a little to be that close (five points I do hope one of the non-voters didn't point it highly in the semi) but at least it's not another bridesmaid placing and it makes my 2nd and 3rd medals at a neat 3 apiece now! Moreover though, I'm just so pleased with all the love it's got, I've had this on the backburner for about three years now since he dropped it as a surprise 1 million subs special and I really think it showcases the best of what he can do with the seamless mixing of world music. Summarising the minor scoreboard changes:

- République d'Áskorza moving up a place to 14th swapping with Jupiterdonia (Jupiterdonia losing 6 points)
- Lotunia moving up from 23rd to 17th (gaining 6 points)
- Jadakissnia moving down 2 places to 19th (losing 1 point) - sawry :'(
- Danæviia/Wholune/Rolloland/Utopia moving down 1 place each to 20th-23rd
- Taahino gaining 6 points, FSR Rontvia and N DNTN each gaining 1 point and FARC losing 6 points, not affecting any positions

My original scoreboard had one other difference in it which turned out to be my own error just to keep myself humble here xx But yes, the above should all be correct now.

So after being stuck on just Mdiče, FSR Rontvia and Aquafina for years, the list of countries to achieve back-to-back wins has grown by 2 over just the last year with FARC and now Altyr Muunilinst added - both legendary nations well worthy of a spot on that list so cannot complain! I enjoyed 'dying on the inside' more than the previous Altyr winner so although it's another winner I didn't vote for it's still solid enough, and definitely better than what came 2nd.

So close for Terra Avium yet again but I suppose for Chez's sanity it is better to be 3rd than 2nd That ending up being one of only 3 songs in the top 10 I voted for along with Kathaldazia and New Lexico - did not think Skin On Skin would do as well as 4th but I guess Kath does have a good record with techno entries, happy to see it! And pleased that Fear Of Tigers did indeed make a strong comeback among the later voters even if not quite ending up as a winner contender. The rest of the top 10 is, much like last month, mostly not really for me (only Aeroche also being a commiseration) but it's an improvement from not voting for any of the top 10 last time at least! Aw at Cumulonimbia just missing out on being another one of my big faves making the top 10, 11th is pretty good though (I think that's very similar to the pre-deduction result for Bad Gyal which this entry reminded me a lot of so makes sense!)

A few more of my faves showing up in the lower end of the top 20, would have liked to see better results for Lotunia and Jadakissnia (+ was definitely predicting a better result for Danæviia oops!) but not too terrible. 23rd seems like a great showing for Utopia after how badly all the other rock entries did this month though! Also quite disappointing results for Fljótavík and Scherzland and although I didn't vote for it Dobago certainly didn't deserve to be last aw.

Exactly one year ago Altyr were hosting, I sent a foreign language song that I'd had as a potential off and on for years, and came 33rd. History exactly repeating itself now. The reveal order took me on a bit of a ride with me being in the top 20 for a while before a massive drought but at the end of the day I said I'd be happy enough if I avoided the bottom 5 and I have in the end so I cannot complain too much, should be back to finding something actually new to send next time! (And I only need one more qualifier to match my longest Q streak to date so the pressure is on...) Thanks to those who voted for RVKDTR anyhoo, happy to have got a few medal positions here and there and a few unexpected voters!

And thank you to John for the hosting - though of course we may not be done with that just yet if you are up for doing the next contest too!

Congrats again John! Hendinia was my 18 but I do recall bumping Altyr up a couple places in my votes after my final listen-through, that definitely could've gone either way! Looks like I voted for 5 of the top 10, especially pleased to see KlumRep as one of those.

I won't quite call this a second hit for FK&C but I'm always happy to squeak into the final. I was counting on Niceland points so thank you Pete for following through Honestly pretty surprised to see Persephonia, Aquafina and especially Hushkanukia in the bottom 10 with me, justice for all of them next month please.

Congratulations John, that's a strong pop winner and while not on my radar as a possible one, more so than Hendinia too - though 'Shockwave' was quite nice also. Shame that 'A Million Voices' came so close, that was a towering triumph of a discovery and a good reminder that I do need to keep up with what Thomas Bergersen releases, damnit.

'Die In The Disco' and 'Piscis' doing really well is also great to see.

Thank you to all the votes for Zanmatony this month, managing to get us another unique final position of #30 which is better than last time round and an improvement overall in total points received. Thanks in particular to Aquafina for the maximum points. If my current trajectory is anything to go by in 2022 then I’m definitely hoping to manage another more improved Top 30 finish in BJSC 144.

I'm isolating this week and likely into the start of next week due to having covid (again) which is why starting the spin off asap suits me but I'm willing to drag the confirmation/voting stages out if needed to accommodate deadlines for the main contest if there are any clashes.

I've had the green light to get it started so I'll be putting a sign up sheet up tomorrow and running it over the weekend (might be longer depending on reception). I just wanna make sure it's countries who are participating that are being given out for people to mansquerade as but I might have a backburner list of other nations so that if there are late sign ups they don't need to miss out

It's been a while since I had a 23rd but it was still my most common position, so of course that's where I'd end up! Decent finish for Turnstile, very happy with that especially with a couple of 18s in there.

Had less of an expectation of where points might come from than usual, but even then surprised that was my first ever points from POPHub, especially 13 of them!

Your entry was lovely, and it definitely deserved at least a top 10!

I noticed that you gave me a lot of points in the semi final, and I was really bummed out about my DNQ, but at the same time, I made a lot of amazing discoveries, and the final was stacked with quality, so it's understandable that I didn't make it too. Even if I DNQed, that doesn't mean no one liked my entry, though, and I will keep on going with my type of flavor of East Asian entries. I did well with it the previous two months, which means I can do well again!
