BuzzJack Music Forum _ Kylie and Dannii Minogue _ DISCO: Predict the 2nd week sales

Posted by: SmileyKylie 11th November 2020, 05:08 PM

Many people suggesting Kylie's sales will fall off a cliff in week 2.

Probably not quite as bad as The Vamps !

Media attention alone IF she can grab this week's number 1 would help + bits and pieces of promo.

How much can she sell? And what will her chart position be as they are 7/8 big releases next week

I am going 7.5k+ and just outside the top 10

Posted by: jlj 11th November 2020, 05:11 PM

I think she’ll clear 10k and stay top ten!

She has Children In Need on Friday doesn’t she which should help her.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 11th November 2020, 05:13 PM

7 or 8k and probably fall outside the top 5 around 6-8.

Posted by: ___∆___ 11th November 2020, 05:14 PM

Let’s not forget she has great promo next week, plus the Amazon Black Friday Vinyl is about to drop again.

I think she will easily be 10k+

Don't think performance on Children In Need. I think she is just on to showcase the new charity song. Wish she was though

Posted by: *Calluminati 11th November 2020, 05:21 PM

I’ll be optimistic and say that the buzz generated by her (very likely) beating Little Mix to number one will keep her in the Top 5 at around 3/4 and she’ll shift around 18k.

Posted by: slowdown73 11th November 2020, 05:26 PM

I’m going to predict about 15k and within the T5 - probably no3 or no4. Golden did 14k in week 2 from what I can remember and she has more promo lined up.

Posted by: jlj 11th November 2020, 05:35 PM

Of the new entries I’d say AC/DC, Paloma and Mcfly could likely be ahead of her.

The rest are harder to predict. I wouldn’t be too shocked if Little Mix were ahead of her next week but I don’t think she’ll be any lower than like #8.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 11th November 2020, 06:03 PM

Hopefulky she can stay top 5, mc fly paloma and ac dc are sure to higher and its likely little mix will be ahead but if she clinches the number 1 this week it will get some press which will help get some sales.

Posted by: ___∆___ 11th November 2020, 06:31 PM

She has Sunday Brunch at the weekend plus CIN and the buzz around the single.

Plus there will be major press coverage if she does reach #1 about her breaking the record etc

Posted by: SmileyKylie 11th November 2020, 06:47 PM

Yep Sunday Brunch is only 500k of viewers but could get some good trickle sales.

As far as I am aware she is not performing on children in need but probsbly announce the charity single and read some Pudsey television numbers out in a pre recorded message

Also has the Roxi advert coming out on Friday.

Sadly not on The Voice final.

Strictly will be a different week also.

Posted by: vibe 11th November 2020, 07:04 PM

She prob has another few bundles up her sleeves 🤣

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 11th November 2020, 07:05 PM

Hopefully she gets strictly one of the weeks.

Posted by: aeroco 11th November 2020, 08:27 PM

It’s interesting how times have changed, I don’t ever remember her promo being so concentrated week one pre Golden. Add into the mix all the new editions.

Pre Golden I only ever bought the best edition available. Of her studio albums Body Language is the only one I’ve bought one version of. Would love that on Vinyl.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 11th November 2020, 09:22 PM

BMG have def changed the way kylie markets her albums

Posted by: Davidson 11th November 2020, 10:06 PM

I’m predicting 11k

Posted by: 365 11th November 2020, 10:10 PM

I think it could sneak a second week top 5! Behind ACDC, Paloma, Mclfly and Little Mix. On roughly 15k?

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 11th November 2020, 11:21 PM

Oooh, I haven't thought that far ahead. I'd imagine at least 10-15K is assured though?

I'm hoping if it gets to #1 that the publicity of her record achievement might help.

Posted by: markivj 11th November 2020, 11:29 PM

Easy 15K. Im sure there’ll be a TV advert, C In Need and activities to entice beyond the existing fan base. As the lead up to Xmas begins, I suspect t Infinite Disco show will be telecast on ITV or something.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 12th November 2020, 12:05 AM

I havnt put to much thought in to week 2 yet as I've been glued to the race for number 1

Posted by: pippa 12th November 2020, 01:21 PM

Close to 10, 000 at Number 6.
I think BMG will push hard for second week sales.

Posted by: Jay* 12th November 2020, 09:41 PM

I'll be optimistic and say 15k and remaining Top 5!

Posted by: Nick Jonas 12th November 2020, 09:45 PM

15k #5

Posted by: Liam.k. 12th November 2020, 10:10 PM

'Golden' sold 13,319 in its second week, which was down 72.3% on its first week sales. If we say 'DISCO' sold about 55k in its first week, then it'll fall to about 15k next week. Even if it's down nearly 82%, it'll still clear 10k. I'm going to go in the middle and say 12.5k+.

As for where it'll place, Top 3 is very likely to be taken up by AC/DC, McFly and Paloma Faith, so I'm ruling that out. I think Little Mix will be above Kylie next week too, then I also think Andrea Bocelli's album could complete the Top 5 - his last album debuted at #1 in November 2018 with sales of 26k. Andre Rieu is releasing too - his last album sold 16k in December 2019.

I'm going to go for #6, but wouldn't be surprised if she was #7.

Posted by: markivj 12th November 2020, 10:54 PM

I feel we are overestimating McFly and P Faith. I doubt they'll crack the top 5.

Posted by: Liam.k. 12th November 2020, 11:04 PM

I feel we are overestimating McFly and P Faith. I doubt they'll crack the top 5.

Paloma Faith's previous albums have consistently sold 30k-40k in their first weeks. I reckon this album will be a drop on those sales but not to the extent where it'll miss the Top 5.

McFly are releasing their first album in 10 years and they're also signed to Kylie's label. Busted's albums since returning have sold 21k and 17k in their first weeks respectively which could give an indication as to what McFly could sell.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 12th November 2020, 11:17 PM

45 mins to go. Let's hope we have a good enough 2nd week sales and that first week sales where good enough.

Let's see if a new vinyl appears as the blue one is discontinued on HMV etc and the Deluxe CD on her website is pre order, cassettes are sold out and shops still closed. I really hope you are correct with over 15k but they need all this out of stock, pre order etc sorted out

Posted by: pippa 12th November 2020, 11:30 PM

Paloma Faiths previous albums have all had great success.

Posted by: jsweetxe 12th November 2020, 11:33 PM

10-13k and falling to around 4-7. I think the sales for this week have been exhausted. I low-key feel like if Little Mix weren’t her competition this week BMG would’ve staggered out these bundles and alternative releases, because she could’ve easily done this week at #1 if she had no comp AND with the bundles she originally had.

Posted by: pippa 13th November 2020, 01:06 AM

Sales were certainly exhausted this week so week 2 could possibly struggle.

Posted by: jlj 13th November 2020, 06:05 PM

The #10 album this week sold 6.1k and Ariana sold 11.5k at #3 so the sales between that area this week were rather close.

I definitely think Kylie will sell more than 6k this week and I think she’ll stay top ten too.

Hard to predict where though and who may overtake her this week from the current top ten. Little Mix might overtake her but I think she could stay ahead of Ariana and Sam Smith for another week. As for the new entries I potentially can see 5 of those being ahead of her.

Posted by: pippa 13th November 2020, 06:19 PM

Anywhere Top 10 will more than ok for its second week

Posted by: slowdown73 13th November 2020, 07:07 PM

Disco should comfortably stay in the T10. Lewis Capaldi is no10 this week and sold just over 6k, which would be an enormous drop from 55k this week. Bruce Springsteen is similar age to Kylie and still T10 for 3rd week. Remember - people are likely to continue buying this in the run upto Christmas and if there is more promotion that will certainly help push the album.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 13th November 2020, 07:09 PM

With so many of kylies sales made up of multi buys she could fall hard in week 2 but i still think she will stay top 10, i think Goden did about 4.5 k on week 2.

Golden did 13,319 on week 2!

Posted by: SmileyKylie 13th November 2020, 08:03 PM

But casual shoppers could pick Golden up easier and it was heavily discounted.

Magic £14.99-£16.99 isn't cheap but the standard is still 9.99-10.99

She needs a week where she grabs bit of free promo and all her formats sell bits and add together. We will know on Monday where she is at and BMG will act accordingly no doubt.

Posted by: spiceboy 13th November 2020, 08:05 PM

I said 12.5k and remaining top 5.

Posted by: slowdown73 14th November 2020, 12:18 AM

Disco is no3 on iTunes tonight - ahead of Paloma Faith.

Posted by: jlj 14th November 2020, 01:20 AM

Surprised the deluxe overtook Paloma so soon! She may have been ahead both versions combined anyways but didn’t expect that.

Paloma does have promo tomorrow so she could re overtake but it’s great to see she’s only dropped to #3 so far today. They’re still ahead of Little Mix too laugh.gif (although that battle is over!).

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 14th November 2020, 03:41 AM

Interesting to see if paloma can perform even close to her previous releases as she is usually a steady seller, I'm wondering can ac dc match or beat kylies opening sales,, I'm hoping not but I'm happy to see them do well.

Posted by: Chapman 14th November 2020, 09:07 AM

I'm saying #4 with 12.1k

Posted by: Sour Candy 14th November 2020, 09:09 AM

Bocelli has a new album too.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 14th November 2020, 09:53 AM

OK.

I just would like to know where you getting those figures for Kylie from without any restocking of Vinyl or caesettes or Deluxe CDs from her website and all shops closed?

I pray you are all right. But taking away her pre orders from last week, the vinyls, the cassettes, the bundles etc, streaming lower....... That's most of those 55k sales gone lol

I hope the free promo keeps sales trickling. Hope supermarkets are stocked.

There a huge number of new releases this week plus we have the likes of Little Mix and Arianna whose streaming will stay huge...

Like I say I am not bothered about sales drop etc and chart drop as I can see the reasons, and she will pick up in future weeks when new versions, discounts, offers appear etc

Now if BMG / Townsend have held sales back from week 1 and started with a 2-3k order book then that would be good.

Keep streaming everyone and enjoy the success of Kylie Ann Minogue yahoo.gif funky.gif cheer.gif funky.gif

Posted by: ___∆___ 14th November 2020, 10:05 AM

Chalkys only just sold out of the CD/signed photo bundle so that extra sales for this week.

Amazon - Standard CD, Deluxe CD, Black Vinyl

Webstore - Standard CD, Deluxe Cassette

All the main indie stores still seem fully stocked including the blue vinyl - https://www.banquetrecords.com/kylie-minogue/disco/4050538633979

Plus download and streaming.

Week 2 for ‘Golden’ was 13.3k and Disco will land between 10-13k I’m sure.

Posted by: slowdown73 14th November 2020, 10:24 AM

Disco no2 on iTunes now. Kylie featured in many newspapers / magazines due to achieving a number 1 over past 5 decades so promotion from this may help.

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 14th November 2020, 11:01 AM

I voted for the more optimistic 15K+ and No. 2-5, but it's going to be a challenge.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 14th November 2020, 12:43 PM

Think you overestimate the Amazon sales etc website.

You can automatically delete 5k cassettes and 13k vinyls plus 4k of downloads and 2k of streaming from the 55k as they no longer available so that's 31k left. Take another 5k signed stuff and 3k exclusive website Deluxe so that's 23k... Say she sells 25% of that for week 2 sales that's around 5.5k-6k sales for week 2....

Golden was totally different. Shops where all open, less competitive time of year, heavy discounting etc.

Now if she releases a new format... Then we are talking or restock some of the vinyl.....

Also if there is a lot of backlog and orders then 2-3k could be added but unless something unusual promo etc we don't know about then I cant see it doing the numbers you all say...

However it is Q4 and people may start ordering on line while shops closed.

Anyhow let's seem hope she does sell week week 2.

A nice few people predicted the 15k + option.
