5. Viva la Vida (7/27 votes, 25.93% (12/22 votes in tiebreak)) After possibly the closest round we've had so far, by a whisker, it is Viva la Vida that leaves us before the all-important final stages. A bit of a surprise, I really had this down as a winning contender and didn't know it had (m)any detractors on here. Spanish for 'Long Live Life' and inspired by a Frida Kahlo painting, this was the second single from the album of the partial same name. Instantly unique from their back catalogue by featuring very few instances of a guitar or piano and instead built around a string loop conducted by composer, Davide Rossi and featuring minor instances of an electric guitar, the lyrics, featuring historical and Christian imagery, tell the allegorical story of a protagonist or king losing everything he used to love. Thanks to a handy promotion from an Apple advert at the time, the song was hugely popular critically and commercially and became their first number 1 in the both the US and the UK, the first occurence that a British band got there since Wannabe by the Spice Girls and it certainly cemented their status as one of the world's biggest bands. Despite this, they did receive a fair few accusations of plagiarism from three different artists, most notably being Joe Satriani for his song If I Could Fly who sued, the case was however unsuccessful. It was even compared to an Italian 1736 composition, I think that holds the most ground tbh, I always knew they were listening then xx While I'm glad I don't have to ban people yet, I'm still gutted at this result as this is easily in my personal top 3 from them, fully deserving of all its praise and is a massive standout in their back catalogue and has aged absolutely beautifully. Long live this song x 5. Viva la Vida (7/27 votes, 25.93% (12/22 votes in tiebreak)) 6. In My Place (12/28 votes, 42.86%) 7. Trouble (12/26 votes, 48%) 8. Paradise (7/23 votes, 30.43%) 9. Speed of Sound (9/34 votes, 26.47%) 10. Talk (11/27 votes, 40.74%) 11. Violet Hill (6/26 votes, 23.08%) 12. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall (6/28 votes, 21.43%) 13. Midnight (7/25 votes, 28%) 14. Adventure of a Lifetime (10/28 votes, 35.71%) 15. Magic (7/29 votes, 24.14%) 16. A Sky Full of Stars (6/24 votes, 25%) 17. Princess of China (8/33 votes, 25.81%) 18. Orphans (9/28 votes, 32.14%) 19. Hymn for the Weekend (10/26 votes, 38.46%) 20. God Put a Smile Upon Your Face (12/38 votes, 32.43%) 21. Charlie Brown (10/34 votes, 10%) (18/28 votes in tiebreak) 22. Christmas Lights (10/34 votes, 10%) (19/28 votes in tiebreak) 23. Up&Up (11/34, 11%) 24. Shiver (7/31, 9.59%) (Less votes in previous rounds) 25. Lost! (7/31, 9.59%) 26. Everglow (13/31, 17.81%) 27. Life in Technicolor II (9/32, 14.06%) 28. Atlas (12/32, 18.75%) 29. Something Just Like This (w/ The Chainsmokers) (9/29, 14.06%) 30. Miracles (Someone Special) (w/ Big Sean) (11/29, 17.19%) And then there were four, who will leave before the semi final? You have until Wednesday evening barring any silly tiebreaks. |

Phew thank goodness for that. Always been a very overrated song for me not just in their discography but in general.
A bit trickier now but Clocks just falls a bit shorter than the other 3 so gone for that. |

As if 'Yellow' is on course to win this thing so far, voting for that again.

A perfect top four!!
This is pretty much impossible now as I love all of these a lot, spent a while thinking about this and gone for Clocks this time. |

Clocks
I feel like this is actually a pretty poor top 4, 'The Scientist' is the only one I feel vaguely enthusiastic about winning. 'Trouble' and 'Viva La Vida' should be here instead of some of these, and 'Talk' too but I knew that was unlikely. |

Clocks remains the best track in this top 4 by a mile, so it looks it’s going to be an underwhelming top 3. If Fix You wins then it’ll be an even bigger disappointment, so over rated.
