So this album is out now and 'Bicep' from like 84 years ago is actually on it as well so there are only 3 actual new songs. x
I found 'Colossal' to be the most instant of these songs so far, so dark sounding <3 probably my 2nd fave after 'Unbleached'. |

Poorly Coward is the best song on the album. Just incredible. So glad he kept it hidden until the very end.

Part 2 is getting released next week and we already have 4 tracks out there. This has completely flown under my radar!

This is shaping up to be far superior to Part 1. All four tracks are superb but in particular "The Stain" and (although we all knew it already) "Destroyer" are wonderful

This is definitely better than part 1. The title track is absolutely fantastic, as is Iris

I never got around to listening to all of part 1 oops so I will listen to both that and part 2 some time this week. The singles from part 2 haven't been nearly as strong as those from part 1 imo though ('Iris', 'Destroyer' and 'cor' are all good songs but I'd take any of the part 1 singles over any of them, and I wasn't really feeling 'The Stain' much).

Listened through both albums just now - part 1 would be a flawless 6 track EP if the last 2 songs were cut out, the singles are all great and 'Poorly Coward' is a fantastic album track highlight too, really like the industrial-esque beat switch near the end. (Last 2 songs were both good too but not on the same level). Part 2 is sadly quite underwhelming in comparison for me, the singles weren't quite as strong as I said in my last post and 3 of the 4 new songs feel more like an intro and 2 interludes than actual songs, they're nice enough but not songs I'd ever want to go back to in their own right... 'Slow Burn' at least is a great closing track and possibly my favourite song on the album though.
(poked SavanSeize to change the thread title as this hasn't just been a thread about 'Gone' for ages now xx) |

I agree that part 2 is a bit underwhelming. Some highlights but not nearly as many as in part 1. It also felt less cohesive.

I'm still really enjoying it!
It's a great album when you combine the two parts and Destroyer is my favourite thing on either - it's got a kind of The Cure vibe to it which I really love. Currently my playlist of the two is: Enduring Chill Iris Colossal Gone Unbleached Darling cor Destroyer Shame Poorly Coward Bicep Grouch The Stain Slow Burn |
