It's happening again! We need to decide on an entry to represent Girls Aloud in the first "free choice" round of AF Idol.

I was thinking something like Can't Speak French - generally considered midtable in their singles and leaving some big guns until later thinking.gif

I think if you go for a middling GA hit, you'll be safe tbh. I' probably throw in 'Promise This' by Cherly too or something.

Or even 'Beat Of My Drum' by Nicola?

Can't Speak French makes sense, The Show and The Loving Kind would get through and probably not be much use for later rounds either. As a risk, I'd actually go Nicola's Beat of My Drum! I think it'd get through. But the three above would be safer.

I think you should save the Girls Aloud hits for future rounds and use some of the solo singles now, depending on what your thoughts are for the themes in future rounds.

My thought was to go with Call My Name or Fight For This Love as a big solo song in Round 1, and not "waste" a Girls Aloud single at this early stage. For future rounds I don't think we'd need to use Cheryl singles again, because there'd be plenty of Girls Aloud to go with.

What do you all think?

If we were to go with Girls Aloud I'd suggest The Show or The Loving Kind (echoing Andrew!), they're generally well liked but they're not their very biggest.

On a personal level FFTL for me, howeverrrrr, CMN is extremely popular and should be a very safe qualifier, no? (Obviously if you're sure you wont necessarily need it later!) I think I'd vote for it (at least I'd like to coz its amaze)

Call My Name is what this site seem to think is Cheryls best solo track so that would be very good for round 1! Saying that there’s so much potential to use for GA songs as long it’s not Beautiful Cause You Love Me or one of their covers.

I wouldn't be against going for another solo song as the group singles will be the strongest, I think Crazy Stupid Love, Fight For This Love and even Beat of My Drum would get through! Of the GA singles Long Hot Summer might just about scrape though but it'd really struggle, The Show is a risk so I'd go sexy yeah *.*
